Great food, but they were out of a few things on the menu. Live music in the bar, but not at all too loud to have a conversation. Very nice!
Usually one of our favorite restaurants, but this time I was disappointed. They had sold out of the chicken pot pie the previous day, that was my reason for going. I wonder why they didn't make more on Saturday?!
I ordered the ribs that I have enjoyed before and have been juicy and falling off the bone. This time they were dry and tough. I couldn't eat them and when I mentioned it to the server as she took my uneaten meal away, she said nothing.
Next time we decide to go, I will check on the availability of the pie!
Chef Gabe does an amazing job. The salmon and scallops dishes were outstanding as usual. Only comment was that the music was a little loud to carry on dinner conversation. Also the wine list was undergoing an update so it took a little time to select the proper wine as the wait staff knew very little about what was available. Should keep wait staff up to date on what your are out of and what is currently in stock particularly when you are updating your wine list. Other than these minor issues love our local hangout!!!
A return after 4 years. A great dining experience. Food service guitarist all wonderful!!
Food was good. Service was very slow (took 30-45 min to get appetizer and then again for entree). We were there on. Monday night and it looked like they may have been understaffed.
The live music was so loud throughout the meal that we couldn't talk with our friends without yelling.
I hope it was an off night for this restaurant. The wait staff was very slow and had a bit of an attitude. By the time we got to sit down it was an hour later before we got our food. I would try this restaurant again, but I hope it was an off night. Otherwise, I probably would go to another restaurant in town.
Hard to give a full report as they were very short staffed that evening. Our waitress was really nice but harried. Food was okay. We started with calamari, a beet salad, which was a bit overdressed and a wedge salad which was too big and the lettuce head should have been pruned before serving. My husband had the short ribs which had good flavor but was a little too fatty. I had steak frites and the steak was cooked perfectly but had way too much sauce of two different kinds so had to scrape off. French fries were delicious Great atmosphere with good band playing that evening.
Sabroso was recommended by a couple next to us at the Taos RV Park and it was every bit as good as they raved about. We had a wonderful time and a great dinner with the best margaritas anywhere. The patio was wonderful and our waitress was friendly and attentive. Thanks, we will be back next time we're in Taos.
Great place and location, even though they were short staffed we sat at the bar. Made friends, listened to live music. The outdoor dining space was excellent. Staff was great, good was top notch. Highly recommend.
Great ambiance!! Margaritas were terrific!! Outdoor seating for summer is fantastic🍸🍷
My steak was great and my friends liked their food as well.
Only issue we had was being constantly bothered by flies
We ate outside
What a gem. An unexpected surprise. Excellent menu and preparation. Good service and value. Live music several nights a week. Quickly became my Taos favorite.
amazing food & drinks (margaritas are a MUST) !! lovely ambiance, perfect for our dinner date <3 Staff attentive but not overly attentive... perfect night out. will be coming here again.
We had the fried mushrooms which were tasteless and the filet w fingerling potatoes and veggies. The steak was tender but not seasoned, the potatoes and vegetables also lacking in seasoning. The top shelf Patron Margarita supposedly had orange liqueur in it was tasteless. I’m from Dallas, Texas where everything is bigger and better and this was a sad comparison. Too expensive by far for what you got. By far.
Fun resturant with live music. Food was good. Service was good.
Our first time dining there and the food and drinks were excellent. Best Dirty Martini I’ve ever had. Waitress was slow and not attentive. Others waiters seemed more attentive to their tables and more engaged.
Our server never even checked how we were after we got our dinners until we were already finished. They weren’t very busy so not sure why our service lacked.
Would return but hope to get a different server.
We went here on our 30th anniversary (which was noted on the reservation but never acknowledged at the restaurant). We were seated for 10 minutes before I had to flag someone down in order to get some service. The appetizers came out in the wrong order after that. Our entrees were good but my expectations for the evening were much higher than what we experienced. It was disappointing for a special occasion.
Sabroso was excellent! This was our nice dinner on a very long road trip, and we feel we picked a great place. The food was excellent, the environment enjoyable with live music, and excellent food. Overall a great time was had!
I brought my partner here for the first time. We got to sit on the patio and enjoy the music of Jimmy Stadler as he played for a private party on the terrace below. We both enjoyed a cocktail and several appetizers as we were not super hungry. All the food tasted wonderful and had excellent plating. We will come again and recommend to others.
Fresh blue point oysters minionette, large perfect scallops served over crabmeat and mushroom rice, crispy asparagus, delectable cornmeal fried soft shell crab, limoncello cheesecake, warm chocolate raspberry cake with ice cream. What's not to adore and come back for more!
Sabroso is Taos. This is our go to place whenever we are in Taos. Walking into the garden dining space I always get the feeling of coming home to myself. This place embodies the serenity that is Taos. Being here makes our vacation special and memorable.
It was our anniversary, we arrived early and there only about 8 people there. We were seated outside (very nice) and then it went downhill from there. Our waiter (Mike?) had very intense energy and when he asked what we’d like to drink I said I’d like a Moscow Mule without vodka, he smirked and said oh then you want a ginger ale to which I replied “no” and my husband explained that we don’t drink alcohol, do you have any mocktails? He smirked again and replied “I refuse to work in any establishments that serve mocktails because the average check wouldn’t make for good tips” then walked away. My husband and I looked at each other dumbfounded, scratching our heads. In our experience mocktails are almost just as expensive as regular cocktails & contribute plenty to the tab. Plus it’s very poor taste to mention tipping to your patrons. Sabroso is supposed to be one of the “better” establishments in Taos. We were so disappointed. They only had a salmon special (farm raised not wild caught) (we don’t eat red meat) no scallops (one of their signature dishes), so we ordered a shrimp cocktail and a spinach salad. Our rude & imposing waiter tried to convince us to combine the shrimp cocktail with the spinach salad, at first we agreed but then we thought about it and realized we wanted the shrimp cocktail by itself separate from the pesto spinach salad. We told our waiter and he very dramatically dropped what he was doing and ran to the kitchen (very rude) like it was going to be a problem and we were a huge inconvenience (again 8 people dining, we were there early). The manager (very nice female) noticed the aggression/hassle in asking for a mocktails, apologized and tried to make it right. To add insult to injury the waiter & the bartender talked trash about us, we were within earshot and heard them bashing us for asking for a mocktail. It was our anniversary and was the worst dining experience we’ve had in Taos. We used to love Sabroso, we don’t anymore.
Convenient location to Arroyo Seco. Interior needs updating; especially the chairs. All four in our party thought they were so uncomfortable that it detracted from the otherwise nice meal.
It was our first visit and we will be back. The food was outstanding and the service was perfect. The chef even came to our table to ask how we enjoyed our meals. What a wonderful experience!
Food was a alright, but very expensive. Service was slow and very inattentive. Waitress was haughty and asked us if we wanted our check before we had to ask for coffee and dessert. Overall, a very mediocre experience. Won’t be back again...
Everything about Sabroso was truly outstanding. FOOD WAS BEST EVER
Service was a little slow, prom night had them very busy, but we were in no rush and enjoyed the opportunity to talk with friends we don't see as often as we would like. The food was excellent and the atmosphere quiet for talking with the music coming from the bar not too load. All and all a very pleasant couple of hours. We'll be back!
What a pleasant surprise! Quite off the beaten path tucked back behind a thicket of trees Sabroso was not easy to find. We were visiting a Spa/Retreat in New Mexico and decided to use Open Table to do what it does best, suggest a restaurant that otherwise we would not be aware of. We found Sabroso, read the reviews and decided to take the 1 hr. trip from our Spa to experience some real southwestern food. When we arrived, we were surprised, the place was quite dated in appearance, the outside as well as the inside could use some well-deserved TLC and updates. Thankfully, how it looked on the outside does not reflect what is going on, on the inside! (Can't judge a book by the cover)
It was worth the drive! The chef there is very creative and his preparations fresh and innovative! We had the braised Buffalo short ribs with fresh veggies and the most delicious white/sweet potato mash on a bed of green pesto (so different but delicious)! We also had the ginger pork belly and Portobello fries. I had a custom concoction from the bar their version of a Mojito the Taos Bliss it was also delicious.
I am truly glad to say the food is the star of this show and if ever we are in New Mexico again we will make the trip to Sabroso's. One of our top 5 faves for sure!
Service was great!!!
Sides were unique and very good however steaks were over cooked and ribeye was more fat than meat.
Wonderful place - very attractive New Mexican decor and a delicious selection of salads, entrees, etc. I had a fish taco and spinach salad with pine nuts and pesto dressing - SOOOO good!
For happy hour not necesssrily dinner. Not thrilled with the finner menu.
This place is a local favorite with an authentic New Mexican twist on many of its dishes and drinks! A great vibe with beautiful live music.
Service was excellent and the live music was a wonderful addition to a very pleasant meal.
Great ambiance, nice wait staff and chef.
Great tasting food, vegetables were tough and couldn’t eat them, but we enjoyed everything else.
Great food and service a very nice place to eat and a beautiful atmosphere.
A bit pricey, but the food was amazing and the service good.
Excellent meal and service. Close to home and with great atmosphere.
We came to Taos from Fort Worth on Wednesday, which was my husband’s birthday. We got in super late Wednesday; super early Thursday, so didn’t go out then. Then Thursday was Valentines Day, so we didn’t go to dinner. So, Friday night we decided would be his birthday dinner night. The staff, restaurant, and food left nothing to be desired in a restaurant. It was beyond good. We all highly recommend it, and will definitely be back.
Wait staff was rude and inattentive. Food was pedestrian and overpriced. This used to be a great restaurant, the live entertainment is all it’s got going for it now.
