Had an excellent dinner on the patio. Gabe the chef prepared a nice dish of scallops over polenta with a hollandaise sauce garnished by an apricot salsa that was a wonderful seasonal touch. My wife had fish and chips done perfectly in a light tempura batter .
Service was slow and our drink orders were incorrect. After food service we had to remind that we ordered wine.
A delightful evening. Excellent service, delicious food in a lovely atmosphere. We will be back!
Nothing special. Indifferent staff. Mediocre food for the price.
Great BBQ, sides, and margaritas! Lovely patio.
sabroso is a dear friend . we always feel welcome and well fed
The filet mignon and truffle fries were amazing! The meat was tender even though I ordered it medium well. My only recommendation is to use less sauce. The sauce was good but my vegetables were drowning in it so I couldn't taste them. My husband had the salmon which he said was good, but he said the filet mignon was better. The margarita was good, but a little too tart for my tastes. Service was great. We sat inside which was nice and quiet since most people sat outside.
We dined outside on a perfect evening and the patio ambiance was very charming. We started out with cocktails, followed by a bottle of wine with dinner. The shrimp and grits were good as were my husband's short ribs.
Our waiter didn't not add to our experience in the least. He was rushed and seemed disinterested in delivering fine service. When asked specific questions about the entrees, he was non committal. He brought the bottle of wine just seconds after our cocktails arrived. Empty plates and glasses stayed on the table throughout the meal. The restaurant was not overly busy so we could just assume he wasn't up to the job of professional wait staff.
Really enjoyed dinner the short ribs were fantastic.
Highly recommend this restaurant! Great food, drinks, and service! Be sure to try the Creme Brûlée!
Love Sabroso! I tried the poke bowl this time and WOW! My friend got the short rib and I'll forever claim it my favorite meal on the planet!!
The Margarita's were very good, food selection and quality were, as well.
Tables spaced, outside under cover, if you wish. Delicious meal.
Oh my! I thought you'd never ask! We had reservations for patio dining on June 11. We were met by 2 officious young gals who said first thing, "you can't enter the restaurant without a mask." We said we have patio reservations. They repeated, "you can't enter the restaurant without a mask." There was no greeting such as "welcome, your name, please, do you have a mask? would you like take-out ?" The patio was right there behind them, and no one was there. We did not bring masks because we planned to eat al fresco. If masks are mandatory in your establishment, it should say so on your web page, and perhaps there should be a sign out @ the highway where you offer "fresh squeezed margaritas." AND BTW we drove 40 minutes to get to your restaurant and it was our anniversary. Barbara and David Schultz
Great service and food. Lovely patio!!!
mmmm..mmmm Good :) I will be a return for some more of that onion soup for sure!!
Wonderful local restaurant. Good food and drink; inconsistent service. We - and everyone we know - prefer dining in the bar, but can make reservation only in dining room. Go early and sit in the bar, where there are comfy tables and chairs and a fireplace. Much better ambiance than more formal dining room. Live music provided often in the bar, too.
Our waiter spoke to us as little as possible and didn’t appear to want to serve us with our two sons (ages 5 and 9). There was an assistant waitress who was awesome and refilled our drinks, got us bread, etc. I hated that the waiter was going to get all of our tip for doing nothing, so we have the girl a cash tip on the side. Our food was not great, lukewarm, and not worth the price. Music in the bar area sounded great. We have been coming here for over 15 years and won’t be back any time soon. Wish it was better since it is the closest to Taos Ski Valley.
Excellent everything, great food, great service, people having a blast in the bar with entertainment
Our only regret is that we didn't get there sooner to enjoy the music in the lounge! All else was fantastic, especially our server Dylan! Attention to detail was emphasized all evening long, from the moment we walked in the door!!!
Sabroso has reliably delicious food and serves good sized portions. It is worth the money for a nice dinner out.
We come to Taos every two or three years, and Sabroso is always top on our list for must-do dinners. Imaginative starters and entrees, some reasonably priced wines, and a warm and welcoming dining room (with a beautiful, not overwhelming, fireplace). Lots of interesting artwork on the walls adds to the ambiance, as does the distant strains of live music in the bar area. Service is always top notch.
The bar scene on our way in and out, was lively....time permitting, we may go back to sample the happy hour offerings, after a hard day skiing!
Our meal was excellent as was the service. We enjoyed a calamari appetizer and split a generous Caesar salad. My wife enjoyed a delicious fish taco and I had a nicely prepared skirt steak with frites. We had a very enjoyable dining experience at Sabroso.
Loved it. Great food and service
I had the buffalo short ribs. Delicious. The drinks were very good.
Love going to Sabroso. It's always such a warm & friendly - very inviting atmosphere. Love the creations of the chef - not only the old standbys but the specials also. We're locals & took a friend from out of town - great experience for all of us. The initial service is a tad slow but other than that it's a wonderful place in Taos. Looking forward to the summer to be able to sit on the beautiful patio.
Prefer to eat in the bar, where the lights are lower and the seating more comfortable, but reservations may only be made in the dining room. It was fine, but too bright. We eat there often and our server recognized us. I wish I knew her name; she's excellent. Best wedge salad in Taos. Other couple's food looked good, but husband's liver and onions were cooked to leather and inedible; however, the server and chef were very responsive and removed it from our bill.
The bison steak with lobster and shrimp pico was 👍🏼👍🏼 but $85. We split it and still took some home. The fireplace in the dining room is cozy and staff very friendly.
It was my daughter’s 18th birthday and we had a blast! Love the food! Fresh raw oysters, scallops with veggies and micro greens, flourless chocolate cake a la mode! Tummies! Everyone had a great time!
Great food, but they were out of a few things on the menu. Live music in the bar, but not at all too loud to have a conversation. Very nice!
Usually one of our favorite restaurants, but this time I was disappointed. They had sold out of the chicken pot pie the previous day, that was my reason for going. I wonder why they didn't make more on Saturday?!
I ordered the ribs that I have enjoyed before and have been juicy and falling off the bone. This time they were dry and tough. I couldn't eat them and when I mentioned it to the server as she took my uneaten meal away, she said nothing.
Next time we decide to go, I will check on the availability of the pie!
Chef Gabe does an amazing job. The salmon and scallops dishes were outstanding as usual. Only comment was that the music was a little loud to carry on dinner conversation. Also the wine list was undergoing an update so it took a little time to select the proper wine as the wait staff knew very little about what was available. Should keep wait staff up to date on what your are out of and what is currently in stock particularly when you are updating your wine list. Other than these minor issues love our local hangout!!!
A return after 4 years. A great dining experience. Food service guitarist all wonderful!!
Food was good. Service was very slow (took 30-45 min to get appetizer and then again for entree). We were there on. Monday night and it looked like they may have been understaffed.
The live music was so loud throughout the meal that we couldn't talk with our friends without yelling.
I hope it was an off night for this restaurant. The wait staff was very slow and had a bit of an attitude. By the time we got to sit down it was an hour later before we got our food. I would try this restaurant again, but I hope it was an off night. Otherwise, I probably would go to another restaurant in town.
Hard to give a full report as they were very short staffed that evening. Our waitress was really nice but harried. Food was okay. We started with calamari, a beet salad, which was a bit overdressed and a wedge salad which was too big and the lettuce head should have been pruned before serving. My husband had the short ribs which had good flavor but was a little too fatty. I had steak frites and the steak was cooked perfectly but had way too much sauce of two different kinds so had to scrape off. French fries were delicious Great atmosphere with good band playing that evening.
Sabroso was recommended by a couple next to us at the Taos RV Park and it was every bit as good as they raved about. We had a wonderful time and a great dinner with the best margaritas anywhere. The patio was wonderful and our waitress was friendly and attentive. Thanks, we will be back next time we're in Taos.
Great place and location, even though they were short staffed we sat at the bar. Made friends, listened to live music. The outdoor dining space was excellent. Staff was great, good was top notch. Highly recommend.
Great ambiance!! Margaritas were terrific!! Outdoor seating for summer is fantastic🍸🍷
