Sabor Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
The food was great. The service was not good. The server forgot things we asked him, walked away when our glasses were empty without asking if we wanted another drink, didn't engage much at all with our table and seemed to disappear at times. Everything else was good but the service ruined the night. It was our first wedding anniversary and he didn't bother asking if it was a special occasion. We've been to Sabor before and had wonderful service so this was disappointing.
Overall okay, but even though both my husband and I remarked that our dishes were too salty, (sardine pate, extremely salty; and grilled prawn & calamari, my husband couldn’t finish it) our comments were ignored. We weren’t asking for any compensation, just an acknowledgement and promise to tell the chef. The reason that I didn’t give a lower rating is that the other 2 diners’ meals were good.
Went for a night out. Had their fish specialty plate. Was very good. Nicely presented, nicely prepared and well priced. Ambiance was nice. Only issue I had is (no fault of the restaurant) is hearing my partner. As I said not their issue more so mine as I’m hard of hearing lol. However with the long tables I had to lean over a lot to hear her. I guess I could have moved my chair to the side of the table. All was great though. Thank you.
Food was terrific, even for those in our party who do not like seafood. Tenderloin was delicious!
Waiter was personable and friendly. Nice to have a dinner with friends when volume did not require shouting to converse.
Coming by again for tapa!
Will recommend highly
We had reservations and they did not seat us until 50 minutes later. It was really busy for a Thursday. We arrived early so we went to their wine bar, Bodega. We had a nice glass of wine and some oysters. After sitting for over half an hour, though, Sabor apologized for the wait and brought us a complimentary bottle of wine. Once we got into the restaurant (after a 50 minute wait), the service was excellent and the food was fantastic. Every detail was attended to. We greatly enjoyed the octopus appetizer, and the 3 boar entree was amazing! My wife had a fresh pasta with sturgeon and she really enjoyed it. They brought us a complimentary dessert as a thank-you for our patience. The meal was worth the wait, and we will be back.
Really enjoyed the ambulance and the variety of food… from tapis to full course meals . I'm a vegetarian but there was a nice choices for meat eaters… The rack of lamb looked really good... Coming from a vegetarian I think that's a real compliment. 🤓Wine selection was quite broad.
Something for everyone I think. Hard to make a bad choice… We had two bottles of a house red and it was exceptional
Great restaurant ! Great service !
I tried this restaurant with a work meeting /dinner , loved it , so I had to come back and try it again with the hubby , he wasn’t disappointed, the steak was delicious , had a nice bottle wine . Service was great , she spoke French with us , ( she is from Quebec and so as us ) . Great date night and it is so close to Rogers Place , that you can go for dinner and walk to the stadium ! So convenient ! Thanks for a great experience !
I've been to Sabor many times and this time was a less than positive. Generally speaking, our server did not seem very interested in her contribution to our dining experience. One of the guests ordered soup in addition to an entree. The entrees were brought out and when the guest indicated that they would forego the soup now that the entrées had been served, the server seemed surprised. She arrived to offer freshly ground pepper well after we'd begun our meals.
Sabor is pricey enough that I expect excellent service which is usually the case but unfortunately not this time.
Luckily I made reservations for a Monday night even though I didn't think my party of 2 would need it, but was I wrong! It was quite busy even for a weekday and I can see why, it was my first time eating there and it was amazing. Probably one of the best meals I've had! The service was on point and the oysters and mussels there were probably some of the best I've had. I would definitely go back and would recommend anyone to go but as long as they're not on a budget.
Love the food! I’ve been here twice and was fully satisfied both times! Lobster risotto is delicious! My husband had the chicken and chorizo paella, I don’t really even like paella but it was soooo yummy! Excellent, will definitely be back to try more dishes!
Darren makes it special. We always request to be seated in his section. He is very knowledgeable about the WHOLE menu and pays particular attention to my Gluten Free requirements. I am never disappointed with his recommendation.
We have celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, grandchildren and even when we sold a house, at Sabor.
I would mention that the exhaust fans might need some work. The ambiance was a bit overwhelmed by the kitchen odors. I hadn't noticed it any other time, just last visit, last weekend.
I have been to Sabor before and the ambience was great the only complaint was we were in the room off the main restaurant and it was very dark. Every table around us had their cellphone out using them as flashlights to read the menu. Other than that it was great
Great food but my reservation did not work. We waited for an hour at the entrance for our table, even with a reservation, which in turn ruined the surprise Birthday dinner I had planned several weeks in advance. I had even called to confirm my reso a couple times. We were very rushed because when we did get in, it was so close to closing time and felt like they just wanted to get us in and out the door. It was too bad because I love this restaurant and the food is incredible, but I will not be back. It is an expensive dinner for special occasions for us and I was quite disappointed.
Wanted to try a new place. Not comparable to some of our favourite spots( XIX, Norman's, Hardware Grill). Don't waste cash here as the quality of food was similar to a boring chain restaurant.
Server did not check on meal quality even after removing two full pieces of fish that were not eaten (half the meal). Fish was served raw and was not meant to be sushi. Tables in our area were all sending the same fish to the garbage. Server provided the all basics to serving without any personality or communication. Two days later we are still disappointed we chose to celebrate at Sabor.
The location is a nice comfy place which offers outstanding seafood. We were being welcomed in a very courteous way. Even our coats were taken off.
The menu is really creative, though a little pricy. The portuguese wine is great as well.
The waitress acted friendly and was well informed but actually not interested in us. When she asked the good old "How are the first bites tasting so far" she didn't even take her time to listen to the answer as she seemed to know it anyways. Even a 20% tip (on a bill with more than 300$) couldn't lift her mood. Other than that it's a great place I would definately go back to.
The service was excellent.Good variety of menu items especially if you like seafood.
Great wine varity.
The ambiance was wonderful.
The live music was fantastic.Great for date night or group function.
The food would rate a 10 out of 10.
Will definitely visit again.
My husband and I went on a date for his birthday and we shared the family-style 3-course dinner. It was totally amazing and exactly what we were looking for! Service was excellent and they were quite busy that Thursday evening. I would recommend to anyone looking for a lovely evening out! Cheers!
