Sabor De Cuba Ratings and Reviews
Sabor de Cuba is one of our favorite 'go to' restaurants in Frederick, MD. We often dine here on the weekends. The staff is super friendly and attentive. The food is very delicious and authentic. Love the comfortable atmosphere of this neighborhood restaurant. Highly recommend!
Safe choice here. Attentive, caring service by a newish waiter. Food was good considering lack of good Cuban choices in this region. The daily special was basically a Cuban version of fajitas with no tortillas. Vaca Frita was tasty. I'll keep looking for great Cuban in this area.
Had been looking to try this restaurant for some time. The food was good but the service was poor. Ordered an appetizer before ordering main meal, server took the order and then came back to get rest of the order but asked if we wanted an appetizer which we had already ordered and was being brought to the table as he stood there. We ordered a bottle of wine which he brought to the table, presented the bottle and left it without pouring it into glasses or even opening it (screw cap). Ordered dessert to share and he handed the 2 spoons to person I was dining with. The restaurant was extremely loud and was difficult to hear our own conversation. Should have asked to sit outside since perhaps it would have been more quiet. Meal was decent but will not go back again.
First time at Sabor de Cuba; we really enjoyed our dinners - Vaca Frita & Pernil. We also had the soup special for the day, described as being a pureed enchilada, which was also very good Service was fast, but it was a Sunday night, so likely quieter than usual. Looking forward to returning. Only "criticism" is that it would be helpful if servers had a better understanding of menu items to answer questions about the dishes.
First time to this restaurant. What caught my eye was the menu item, a guava empanada. This sounded good. So I went, ordered the pollo ala plancha, and saved room for dessert. The chicken was a generous portion of citrus marinated breast grilled to a sizzling hot state upon presentation. The plate also included a ladle full of rice topped with four fried green plantain mashes. A bowl of mildly spicy black beans finished the entrée. Each item flavor complemented the other and I just kept thinking that my wife would definitely enjoy this place. So would my kids. Especially when it came time for the guava empanada. Out it came, fresh, hot, and delicious. Definitely worth the trip and a return visit.
I love the sizzling shrimp and a habanaro margarita with cilantro. Don't forget the garlic for the shrimp and the cilantro for the drink! Did you get a new chef? Train him/her in your flavorful ways! The whole table wondered about the usual flavorful food. I'll be back...I know I will.
After being stationed for 4 years in Puerto Rico and enjoying incredible Cuban cuisine, I was excited to stumble upon this unassuming restaurant in Frederick. What Sabor de Cuba lacks in ambiance was more than offset by the quality of the food AND the beverages. Our party of six ordered six different entrees and they were all superb. Our mojitos were excellent and the sangria was just right: not too fruity, not too sweet, not too heavy. Service was prompt and our waitress addressed our many requests with a smile. I highly recommend dining here for any reason whatsoever!
Normally I'm happy to visit this restaurant. Unfortunately, my first Mother's Day experience at this restaurant was awful!! The host was rude and took my son stroller because he said it was in the way (it wasn't), placed my son's car seat on a holder (which was the same size as the stroller) which my 3 month old son screamed his head off because it was too high up, that he could barely be seen from our seat. The host didn't care or asked us if there was anything he could do to help. My son cried for 20 minutes, which made my experience awful until I got up and brought back my son's stroller and placed his car seat back on it. My son finally stopped crying after that. The host gave us an uncaring and insensitive look, which at this point I asked for the check and packed my untouched meal. My special day was ruined and was extremely disappointed with the gentleman. It will be a long time before I decide to back there again. It's really disappointing, since I really enjoy the food.
Food is always delicious. This is my preferred restaurant when family visits. The staff is polite and friendly. The Manager is professional yet very nice. He called me to let me know there was power outtage and did a follow up call when problem was resolved.
