Sabor Cocina Mexicana - Thousand Oaks
Using 100% Agave Tequila and seasonal flavors for our Margaritas and hand crafted signature drinks, combined with a Colonial Mexican Decor for a romantic ambiance.
My family had eaten at Sabor a number of times and had a great experience. However, our last visit was awful. I ordered the tacos and the meat was loaded with fat and gristle. The rice was barely warm. Another family member had the chicken tacos and while she enjoyed them, her rice and beans were cold. We paid the bill and will never return. I would encourage others to find another Mexican restaurant.
The food was super delicious, my guests loved it and would come again.
Every Sunday you have buffet or only on special events like Mother’s Day?
My mom and I will go sometime on the week to try the fish tacos and others delicious plates that shows in the menú.
God bless all and continue making a delicious food.
Delicious!!!!!!!!!!!! We come here at least 4 times a month. Always delicious, everything I’ve ordered is. Lean meat, fresh vegetables, great fish tacos! The margaritas are PERFECT. Their “well” organic tequila is TOP NOTCH. I don’t even switch the tequila to my usual Don Julio Silver, Don Julio Añejo or Don Julio 1942. My boyfriend’s a native Californian, says this is the best Mexican food he’s had in awhile in Southern California.
Tasty food. Way too noisy seated in the bar. Will request main dining room next time. Part of order (tortillas) forgotten. Ran out of chips. Waiter pleasant but didn't check back.
Very unique preparation of classic Mexican food. Unusual ingredients; nicely-sized portions. Will definitely dine there again.
The Sunday brunch menu has some wonderful choices and the fun rose drinks really make the meal into a celebration.
The table was sticky, the guacamole was tasteless,/enchiladas Marisco were colder than the plate it was served on. The margarita had was too much ice in it and melted too fast resulting in a water downed drink. This is not the restaurant I it used to be The entire restaurant could use a good cleaning. While it’s nice to have a hot plate it would be nicer if the food tasted better.
My husband and I are on Weight Watchers, so we told the server, and he recommended the guacamole served with fresh veggies rather than chips. It was delicious and so refreshing. He also recommended other items that were so diet friendly. It was all so delicious and forced us to think outside of our normal Mexican restaurant eating pattern. I love the choices, the food and the service!! There is something for everyone.
Reservation was honored....food was delicious....service great, but the noise level is very high. But we will return again!!!
Visited this restaurant for an early lunch so it was pretty low key and quiet. Food was received rather quickly and everyone enjoyed the meals they ordered. Waitstaff was nice and attentive. Beautiful Decor.
Ever since Polacheck's Jewelers moved out and Sabor moved in, we have thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant. The margaritas are so large, you almost need two hands to lift the glass. My favorite item on the menu is the Aranchera (Skirt Stake) followed by the Ribeye Tacos. I had the Tacos Pescado last Sunday, the best fish tacos I have had in a long time. The Guac appetizer is amazing. If you are looking for gourmet Mexican food as opposed to street food, then Sabor is the happening place.
Always good food and pleasant service.
I've been to Sabor many times and each time it seems to get worse. This last visit took the prize. Whenever I've eaten a rib eye steak I've eaten the meat and thrown away the fat and grizzle waste. I now know where that waste ends up....in Sabor's rib eye steak taco. They should rename it the rib eye fat/grizzle taco. And for that I had the privilege of paying $20. I won't be back.
We have been to "Sabor" many times. Always good food and service. One of our favorites.
Great food, a bit of a twist from normal Mexican food. Food and service were excellent. Would say just a little pricy, but everything was so good.
I had the pollo de mole and was surprised with the sweet corn cake as well! Yummy! We had guacamole that was a medium! Drinks were generous🍸
My favorite Mexican restaurant in Ventura Country!
Excellent food with reasonable portions! Chips are fresh and not greasy! A little dark but overall nice ambiance!
A nice place and convenient to the theatres, but because of that, and the rent factor, a bit overpriced. The ambiance is very nice and our waiter was very attentive..
Soup is was cold- had to ask for Utensils and to have the heater turned on 4x. Overpriced for the quality
Great place to go before going to the theater! The margaritas & food are excellent!
I went here pre-Concert with a group of friends and was pleasantly surprised! Not typical Mexican cuisine. Tasty and beautifully presented. Service was great, ambience fun, great decor. A tad pricey for Mexican food but totally worth it. I’d come here again definitely.
We LOVE Sabor ! Amazing food beautifully presented . Great friendly service in a lively romantic atmosphere .
Cocina Pibil (pork) remarkably fatty, which it has been intermittently in the past. Scallops not tasty, zucchini pasta not tasty, either. Sabor margaritas excellent, as was salsa, and spicy creme broulet dessert.
We love Sabor’s food and margaritas. The service is excellent and atmosphere is very pleasant. We will continue to visit and would highly recommend.
The food was good but expensive and the margarita was very diluted and very expensive as well
Everything comes ala carte
Had a wonderful meal with excellent service from Cesar. Service was attentive, pleasant and not intrusive. Food was fantastic!
Always hit Sabor before concert next door! Great food, terrific margaritas & service has always been excellent.
Loved the atmosphere
Food was good but won’t go back for the food
Way overpriced for the flavor
I loved my food. Everyone at our table loved their food. We just thought the prices were a little high for lunch.
I had never had a chile relleno with a panko crust and now it is my favorite chile relleno.
Tacos made with filet mignon were out outsanding. My wifes chile rellenos (came with 2) were so good.
Great food and service... best experience in a long time
What a great place to go to for a casual dinner, or when you have theater tickets to the Civic Arts Plaza. Food always excellent.
Excellent menu and exceptional service. The drink and food quality far exceeded my expectations.
Had a good vibe. We sat at bar. The food was fantastic. I got the steak tacos and my wife the chile relleno. It was Saturday night and the place was packed, however there was a show next door at the civic center. We left at 7:50PM and the place started to empty out. Hence, not sure what its like when the business is slow. Will definately go again prior to a show at the civic center.
As always our experience was excellent and our server Cesar was exceptional as he always is.
We love this restaurant. The food is absolutely delicious and love the size of the margaritas! The service is also outstanding as well.
Server couldn’t get anything right including splitting the chick correctly. Took 4 times to get the check split correctly. Overall, nobody was impressed at all with server, food!!
Good food and service. Pricey though. Lunch for 2, $74.00
