Sable has been our top 3 recommendations to anyone from or visiting Chicago. Unfortunately after our last visit this weekend, we won’t be back.
The seated portion of the restaurant in the back has since been cordoned off for private events only. The food menu has been cleaved by two-thirds and the quality was atrocious. A $40 chicken dish was ridiculously over brined and burned (see photo). First time I had brussell sprouts that were fried to a burnt crisp. Our server was apathetic and did little to show attention. The head server was a bit better, walking around tables to check on folks.
We won’t be back to Sable again.

I made reservations for the restaurant and no one bothered to tell me they were closed for private dining. We ate bar food and the service was atrocious.
The meals didn't come out at the same time. The bartender was surly and unfriendly.
we had a GREAT waiter and checked on us timely.The selection of creative cocktails with bourbon was awesome. food was great and not to much!

Would not recognize our reservation on Open Table. The host claimed that we only reserved "space" but not an actual place to sit!
Wow this place used to be amazing. Now it is embarrassingly bad. Food not just bad, but down right awful. I'm not a complainer but this requires it. Cheese platter had the 3 smallest, thinnest pieces of cheese ever for $16. Charcuterie was almost as small and two the the items were inedible. Squash dish was a soggy over cooked mess. I've had better cheese balls from a fast food restaurant. I was embarrassed for the staff who did their best. It's clear they must have run out of money at this place and have no real chef. Until something changes just don't go.
This used to be one of our favorite spots....but chefs changed and it is now mostly a bar with an assortment of things to eat. The food was fine, but it wasn't the broad range of options that they used to have. (Whereas previously, we always had trouble narrowing down what we would order, we now had a bit of a problem putting together enough dishes.) My chicken, while reasonably tasty, we just barely recognizable as "fried chicken". The accompanying salad was strange. Moreover, the prices were a bit high for the food.
Bottom line. It wasn't bad. But it wasn't the previous Sable and we do not anticipate a quick return in a city with so many great places to eat.
Sable used to be a decent restaurant. When I reserved, I was not told that the restaurant had closed and was now a bar and appetizers spot. This was a big disappointment as well as the sub par food and service.

From the moment we walked in, the entire Sable team made us feel as if we were the only one's dinning there that day (Note, it was packed). The service, food, cocktails, and ambiance are all 5 stars!

Not the Sable as it was back in the day. The entire restaurant is closed. There is a limited menu that is served in the bar area which is now the only place you can eat in. No hostess, open seating. The food we ordered was very good however. The cocktails are excellent, but not nearly as good as I remember them when Mike Ryan was behind the bar. Too bad as this was one of the best spots in the city when Heather Terhune was in the Kitchen. The vibe is that this is a place on it's way out.
Great food with exceptional service. They were very accommodating and went above and beyond for us to have an excellent day! Good ambiance too!
Food was ok at best but the ambience and wine were good! Our bartender was friendly but not super attentive.

I stayed in the hotel that houses this restaurant , so ate here twice , and had cocktails numerous times . Very fun , happening spot , interesting food and cocktails , very entertaining and personable servers and bartenders .
Though a bit pricey, the food was very delicious and the service was excellent. We enjoyed the fries, pork cheek, deviled eggs, and pumpkin panzanella. The cocktails are incredibly unique.
Loved being able to sample several wines before choosing one. Great service.
I was unimpressed with the menu. It's a small plate and venue that offers very little choice. But hey the icewater was good

The new menu is really disappointing. The calamari was its only saving grace--it was delicious.
Stopped by Saturday night for a good drink and some small bites. The old fashioned was great and so were the appetizers. This is one of my go to places for decent food and great cocktails.
All the food was over-salted. The menu on Open Table did not accurately reflect what was on offer. Everything was heavy. Service was spotty. Overall, after being hyped by so many, I would not return.
Dessert was the best part. Drinks were a bit over-priced for both the quantity and quality.
Food was decent, nothing spectacular. Pretzel encrusted calamari sounds good, but was too much fried portion that masked the calamari taste.
Overall, good food, service wasn't very friendly. Not necessarily unfriendly, but very cold.
I guess it was a problem with expectations. My wife and I expected a really good Sunday brunch. What we got was an average hotel coffee shop. The food and service were fine. We just thought it would be more.
Great food, interesting cocktails, and unbelievable service.
We were flying in from out of town and at the airport when I got the confirmation call for dinner. Expecting 4-6 inches of snow, I joking told the gentleman on the other end of the line that if our flight ever takes off, we will be there. Fast forward 6 hours and two plane delays later, the young man who drops off the truffle fries (which were awesome) asks me how the flight was. It took me a minute to realize what he was talking about until I remembered the call earlier. It was nice to see someone go above and beyond what is normally expected of them. This goes for the whole staff
We had the sliders, pork cheeks, butter shrimp in avocado, truffle fries and octopus, each plate better than the last. Will definitely go again
We were here on a very slow Sunday afternoon. Place looked a little dirty...floors had crumbs and mess everywhere. Our waitress, Veronica, was friendly enough but forgot water and forgot a place setting. She said they had been very busy earlier and that might have explained the dirty floor but there were several employees around and the only one who seemed busy was a bus boy. Others were just chatting. Crab cakes and potatoes were COLD. Coffee tasted as if it had been sitting for awhile. Couldn't get Veronica's attention in order to correct it in a timely manner. Lunch for three without alcohol was about $55. Not worth it.
The Sable was a pleasant surprise. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. The staff was so kind and helpful with recommendations for food choices. The food can be ordered in smaller portions so you can make multiple choices and try more. The food flavors were wonderful. The timing of serving each portion was perfect. We enjoyed our anniversary more because of this special experience.

We all thought the restaurant was fantastic until one of our group got violently ill after the seafood.
Everyone who did not eat the octopus was tremendously pleased with their meals.
Was told no bloody mary mix at brunch on the day we dined, but it's attached to a bar, so that was weird. Then saw them pour bloodies 30 minutes later. Eggs were over cooked, sent back then the steak was cold when I got the new eggs. Fail.
We had an amazing meal! Marty was an awesome as our wait staff! Our food was amazing!!
We have been to Sable a few times now and all our meals have been really wonderful. We shared all the dishes which we enjoy. We especially enjoyed the pork cheeks with roasted vegetables and the sweet potato pie dessert.
I've been to Sable before for dinner which was excellent. This was my first time for brunch. I had the pancakes with earl grey cream and lemon curd. It was very tasty. There are plenty of options for brunch. My only comment is I noticed the tables and the chairs looked pretty worn (tables scratched up and the chairs had very noticeable tears) for a restaurant with a very modern vibe and clean look. Otherwise, good service and good food.
