In the heart of historic downtown Pleasanton Sabio was designed by acclaimed San Francisco architect Jim Maxwell. The interior reflects a modern European feeling with an expansive wine wall and open kitchen surrounded by warm, Spanish themed tiles.
Sabio is truly a wonderful find in the East Bay. Frances does a *great* job at blending interesting and unusual flavors into dishes that delight the palate while preserving the individual components in each dish. The menu changes seasonally, but the entrees we shared (Jaegerwurst Sausage, Cavatelli, and Ropa Vieja) were all just fresh and wonderful. The companion cocktails, appetizers, and desserts were likewise top notch. A great place to relax and enjoy a simple-yet-elegant dining experience.
The service was absolutely fantastic. Our waiter and the staff were excellent. The problem is with the food and the price. Price is of no object to me, I’ve paid $4000 for dinner on a previous occasion. My issue is with the “Wagyu”, the oysters and the caviar service. The Wagyu was not “melt in your mouth” (when you think of Wagyu), it was semi-tough. Although, the flavors were spot on. It wasn’t an unpleasant bite, but, it wasn’t an authentic one either. The oysters, these were shucked very poorly.
We had a lovely evening. The wine was smooth, service was excellent. You’d think the entrees are pricey but I feel they are worth the $$. All food was served elegantly and tasted delicious. I would definitely come back again.
Interesting and varied food choices. Each dish I tried had very good flavors. Very accommodating with special dietary needs. Great vibe. Will be back !
Sabio's is a wonderful restaurant. The menu changes often. The service was perfect. We totally enjoy the experience. Many of our friends now dine there.
This is my go-to for my birthday and anniversary celebrations. Had some friends visiting from Florida and knew this was the place to go. Always start with the Cauliflower!!!
Had a lovely evening at Sabio with a couple of friends. Great cocktails fun appetizers and a wonderful waiter for the evening. Will definitely be back.
Wonderful dishes and presentation!
Our dishes were creative and absolutely amazing! They were flavorful and extremely fresh. The attentive staff and ambiance of the restaurant added to our excellent experience at Sabio on Main. We will definitely return!
Treated like a consumer expects to be treated. Polite, good service, not rushed.
Me and my husband went to celebrate our 22nd anniversary. We decide to do the 4 course meal. Was a great experience . Tried different foods and paired with wine. We loved it and will be back for sure.
Great place for a date night or to meet up with friends. Love the local and seasonal offerings.
It took a really long time for them to take drinks order.
I have visited Sabio on Main during brunch with my friend and I knew this is where I wanted to take my hubby out for our anniversary. I read many review and ordered cauliflower and pork bellies for appetizer, which they were good, but not as others raved about. My husband had potato and asparagus soup, and that was impressive. It was a bit salty side but asparagus was just, right tenderness, creamy texture but not overly tacky. What impressed us so much was entree. My hubby had chicken and I had beef cheek. They were OUT OF THE WORLD!!! For chicken, very fresh and meats are soft, so flavorful- skin is not oily, but perfectly browned. Beef cheeks... what can I say. Everything- absolutely loved flavor of red wine they braised with, softly fall apart-and with creamy best tasting polenta- oh my goodness. It overwhelmed me! By the time we had chocolate souffle I was quite full. Chocolate souffle was not so sweet-homemade caramel sauce was perfect- also chocolate coated coffee beans-all blended perfectly. You made our anniversary night, Sabio on Main! We will be back again!!
Love this place, we have been here several times and Chef never disappoints!! Service is always amazing and they have great wines by the bottle and glass. Would highly recommend a visit to Sabios on Main !!
Mother's Day Brunch and two of the three of us either didn't like the menu choices and/or their meal. Mine was good, not great.
Service was great though 😊
I didn’t like the fried chicken, sausage would have been better with waffles.
I would have liked the cannoli to be softer.
Granola had too much variety.
Chocolate crepe cake was delicious.
Salad was great.
Loved the Bloody Mary!
Can't wait to go back! We started the evening with happy hour bubble and oysters. Oysters were fresh and we loved the cucumber mignonette. Also enjoyed the hummus with spring crudites. The hummus was delicious, but we could have used more crudites or bread to finish the hummus (using our fingers was an option we didn't employ.) Also enjoyed the craft cocktails Beers Knees and Dirty Cougar. We would do both again. Dinner was "Discover Sabio" four course with the sommelier pairings. The courses are up to the chef, but they do inquire about food allergies. The mystery was fun and we were not disappointed with anything Chef Hogan selected for us. Starter was arugula & strawberry salad with chevre followed by pork belly with English peas. The main course was miso cured black cod w/oyster mushrooms, black rice and Tokyo turnips. We could have licked the bowls and drank the broth. Desert was Meyer lemon posset paired with a port. While they told us the servings were smaller than the normal menu, we had plenty to eat. Every wine pairings was spot on! We would do it all again. A shout out to our server Lorilee. She gave us honest suggestions when we inquired about choices. Lorilee was attentive, but not over bearing. She also timed servings so we were not rushed or had long lags between courses. Thank you!
Our server was amazing. I didn't get her name but she served us with such a great attitude. Usually people will judge younger people but this place was great: wonderful fresh food without being pretentious. I had the Loco Moco and it was so wonderful. They make their own SPAM so it isn't incredibly salty and that accompanied with the wonderful earthiness of the forbidden rice with the mushroom gravy is the thing that songs are made from. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for something a little different for brunch. I know I will be back.
Very nice staff and great food!
Muy buen servicio. La comida es buena y con bastante originalidad comparada con otros restaurantes de la zona. Es una combinación de notas o ingredientes de varias latitudes con estilos de preparación contemporáneos.
Our waiter was amazing and the food was delicious! Cannot wait to go back!
Our server was very accommodating, and the hummus appetizer was nice. Not many options for a vegan, but was able to be served the food that the halibut is served upon. It was too greasy for me, but they did try to accommodate so I appreciate that.
Best Brunch in Pleasanton the French toast was huge and all the flavors mixed perfectly the candies peanuts have it a nice crunch. The blood orange mocktail was perfect for brunch out with my 11 & 7 year old. Beignets are a perfect starter we were all fighting over the forth one.
Always great food and fabulous service. Best restaurant in Pleasanton by far IMO. Fits a different category that's elevated and would survive in SF. Yeah!
Great restaurant and atmosphere. Small, energetic environment with wonderful service and food.
Awesome food and service. Always a great tome here.
Everything was excellent, from the chips, to the trout, and the amazing Nutella donuts!
Service could be a little slow. The food was okay but it was expensive.
Food was excellent. Our waitress was somewhat clueless "Hey I just got back from vacation and don't know what's going on - let me check" when asked a question about the menu.
We ordered the 4 course taste with wine pairing (for only me) and it didn't come with course 1 so on course 2 they loaded me up a wine I really didn't care for BUT they threw in a complimentary drink for my girlfriend. So it's hard to nail them on bad service when they realized their mistake and tried to make it right.
I actually would give them 4.5 stars and I would come back here.
The most delicious Banana Bread French Toast with wonderful salty bacon and a maple peanut butter sauce. It was killer!!!
Food was prepared well and great presentation. It took a little too long for food to come out. Portions are small for the value.
We loved this place...a gem! Impeccable service. Eian was kind, knowledgeable and helpful navigating the menu with us. We loved taking our time to enjoy a great quality meal. The presentation was as beautiful as the food tasted. A great place to visit w/friends, bring out of town visitors, or go on a date. We will return again and again. ❤️
The food here was incredible, and so was the service. Our waiter Wyatt checked in with us multiple times and was very quick to bring us refills and clear our plates. I will definitely be coming back soon!
I Took my fiancé out for her birthday. Both of us have never been. Our server Eian was really knowledgeable about the best food and drinks. He even paired an amazing wine with our dinner! The portion sizes are small but the food was delicious. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is looking to enjoy great drinks and amazing food.
Likes the place better when it was Tapas. It was something different and fun and now it is a restaurant with a limited menu
It was our first time here. The food was delicious and the special drink selections enticing. Would definitely recommend. Good service. We'll come back when in town.
So disappointing! I remembered a very good dinner a while back, with fun tapas. So I chose this restaurant for a gathering of long-time friends, as we didn't want "the same old thing." Unfortunately the tapas are only at night, not at lunch, so we got a menu full of "the same old thing,"--grilled cheese sandwich, hamburger, a few ordinary salads such a chicken caesar---yawn! And in addition to being disappointed in the menu, the wait for our food was long, incredibly long. In fact two different people came out at different times to tell us it was coming soon, yet still we waited. They said they got busy all at once--at noon? What a surprise!
Grabbed lunch. Great ambiance. Fun yet stylish interior surrounded us with warmth. Food was delicious and proportions reasonable. Service was fluid and friendly. Return trip a must.
