Need better wine selection.
My husband and I think Sabio is hands down the best restaurant and bar in Pleasanton. Great handcrafted cocktails, and high quality creative food. We love coming to the bar for drinks and tapas and also for dinner. This visit was for our anniversary and we had a wonderful meal with great service. Highly recommend!
Sadly our service was seriously lacking. We were seated right away but waited about 10-15 minutes before a server approached our table. Then we waited another 10+ minutes to get our cocktails. We had to remind the staff two times that they had not brought a certain dish (appetizers). We had to ask again for more cocktails and it took at least 15 minutes for the second round to make it to our table. The restaurant was busy, but not so packed that a 15 minute wait for a drink made sense. The food prices are high which we knew but the experience and food did not make up for it.
We dined a Sabio on a Sunday for their brunch celebrating a friends birthday. Everyone had a different entree, and all of us agreed we had to return soon to try the restaurant for dinner. This is a lovely restaurant with friendly service and excellent food. The cocktails were excellent as well.
This is our favorite restaurant!
I had a reservation and arrived on time. The hostess showed us to our table which was horribly situated. I inquired about a different table and was tills none are available despite the fact that they're were at least a half dozen open tables. It was fifteen minutes after sitting, before our waitress showed up. She apologized for us being at a table that apparently "often gets forgotten" and proceeded to take our food and drinks order. Twenty minutes later, our appetizer showed up, and we had finished eating it ten minutes later before our water and wine were served! Once we finished our main course and drinks we were given a menu to order dessert, except it had no dessert on it "wrong menu". Needless to say we decided to get dessert somewhere else. We were there for over two hours, and four of the tables that were "not available" remained empty... The only reason I gave it two stars, is because the food was good.
The food and experience while dining at Sabio on Main is fantastic! I love being at a restaurant where you can tell the chef really puts his heart and soul into everything. The food was delicious and the flavors were spectacular. We will be back!!
We went to Sabio on Main for Brunch on a Sunday. The atmosphere was nice. The food was okay, but not great. Portions were on the small side. Service was just okay. Had to request to have our bottomless mimosas filled and had to ask for the check twice. Overall it was a pleasant brunch but will probably try something else next time.
Best cauliflower appetizer and hummus too
Our server is very nice and very attentive!
Pricey goodness but not outrageous given the quality of the food, service and environment. Special occasion restaurant that we'll go to again. And if you arent afraid to double the cost of the meal for a great bottle of wine, this is definitely your kind of place.
Great place to meet up with friends.
Very good brunch!
I have been here before and had many options as a vegan hence I went back. But I didn't find that so anymore. Also there was only a brunch menu in the afternoon! I do still love the ambiance and service. But please have more variations for people who may be vegan or gluten free or both.
Wonderful brunch at this Pleasanton gem. Creamiest grits with shrimp followed beignets with a drizzle of chocolate (dessert first!). The eggs benedict on levain toast with Tasso and spinach was decadent. My dad had the banana bread French toast with maple peanut butter syrup. Yikes!
The restaurant has taken a decidedly NoLa turn to go with the Spanish sensibility.
Food was great but service was awful. Despite being 30 years old, we were treated like kids who had no place in the restaurant. We were there to celebrate my wife’s birthday, and I had included it in the reservation, yet they seem to not acknowledge that.
The restaurant was pretty empty, yet they wanted to place us at a terrible table against a wall between two windows while there were plenty of nicer tables available. After sitting down, it took over 15 minutes for anyone to come see us despite there being barely any other guests and three servers. Appetizers came out super quick, however, our entree took roughly 40 minutes. Again, nobody was in there, so I couldn’t imagine how long this would take on a busy night.
As the meal concluded, they still never acknowledged my wife’s birthday or asked if we were celebrating anything. Too bad the service was so poor because the food was very good.
Another great experience! The Chef's 10-course tasting menu was excellent. If you've been there recently, let them know, so they can avoid something you've already had. They are very accommodating. Fantastic wait staff!
Once again, a terrific dinner. Chef Hogan's local-centric, seasonal cuisine is always creative, interesting, and delicious. Truly a local gem.
I do not understand why this place was so empty... Sunday at 6 pm. Maybe that’s a reason we received such a wonderful, attentive service ... from a beautiful lady! Go! Check it out!
My fiance and I have been looking for a good 4 course dinner at a local restaurant and this absolutely blew us away! 11/10 would recommend to all my friends and family! Everyone was extremely nice and the service was the best I have ever received at a sit down restaurant. We will be returning for the 10 course in a month or so and look forward to eating at Sabio on Main many time in the future! Compliments to the chef also, the food was cooked perfectly and each dish was so unique and something I have never had before. I can't express how much I enjoyed it!! Thank you so much Sabio!!
Sabio for brunch as superb. Bottomless mimosa, the truffle grilled cheese sandwich, spicy cauliflower, homemade spam, who could ask for anything better. The service was outstanding and worth going for some good eats.
Great food. Great service
Cocktails were dangerously good! Pricey menu, but you knew that going in. Knowledgeable and happy staff.
Think this might be our last visit. Last time they had a big party and our food took over an hour. They compensated us so we tried again. This time two more big parties (on a Wednesday night) and my duck dish was raw. Noticed too late, not feeling well the next day. Service was great but food has gone downhill in the past year or so. Too many other good restaurants in the area-its too bad.
Great! Loved the food.
We really enjoyed the small plates (Sunol tomato panzanella burrata, Devil’s Gulch pork belly, and semolina gnocchi) and Cavatelli fairy eggplant entrees that we ordered. The chicken fried flank steak was very tough and the lobster sauce was way too salty. Mentioned it to the staff but sadly they didn’t really seem to care. Sadly that may influence our return to Sabio on Main.
NOTE: Parking near the restaurant is is difficult to find as there is a Starbucks next door and there are so many downtown restaurants in that area without parking lots.
Overall... the service was good, but the entree selection on Monday, 26th, was limited. Of the 6 of us, 4 ordered the same item, because the other selections were not that appealing. I had the chicken fried steak and it was as tough/chewy as shoe leather.
Its a toss up as to whether I would recommend it to someone.
Came in on Monday for a meeting with some clients. Had the best steak I’ve had in years. The steak was huge I had to share it with my clients. Server recommended an awesome local wine to pair with it. Will be coming in again soon with my wife.
Really love the quality of the food!! Very fresh and local ingredients. Our server was fun and informative and recommended a great wine pairing with our duck! Greek red wine who would have thought. Definitely coming back again soon!!
It's our 3rd time to this restaurant. Beautiful interior and great service. But the cauliflowers was too salty. In fact everything was too salty. Good food doesn't have to be that salty.
Sabio was great. I went with my family for a birthday. Our server was very attentive. The squash blossoms and cauliflower were outstanding, as was the house made sausage. I had the gnocchi which reminded me of tater tots in meat sauce. I definitely expected it to be different. The menu did not describe it well. Another dish that was just okay was the chicken fried steak. Delicious deserts and cocktails.
Great service from a warm, friendly and knowledgeable staff. An adventurous menu brilliantly executed in a Charming downtown setting. I highly recommend this spot for Foodies!
Sabio's was a really nice experience. The decor is gorgeous and the food and service equally so. This is a higher end restaurant but not stuffy at all, no attitude. The cocktails were great too. I will be going back!
When booking ask if there is a private function booked as the room the restaurant has devoted for private functions is NOT sound insulated and our dinner ambience was ruined by the excessively loud group in the private room last evening. Bartender/server was excellent but could not makeup for the noise level as well as the excessively salty cauliflower starter and Ropa Vieja. The sausage entree was excellent.
Amazing service, exceeded only by the food!!!
New menu is delicious! Enjoyed the panzanella and gnocchi with sausage! Kids loved the flank steak and halibut.
One of the best meals my wife and I have had in a VERY long time! It was one of those special meals that when the check came out I didnt care at all what the amount was going to be. It was worth it.
Our dinner was excellent - but the best part was our service. I don't remember the name of the young man who waited on us, or the young lady who brought our food - but they we're OUTSTANDING! Really, really special.
Thank you for a wonderful evening.
Jim, Sue and Mike
Cauliflower--- way too salty
Dry-aged Burger--- too big, lacked flavor, definitely "dry."
Love the atmosphere and ambiance. Do not like the tall booths
The bar and the cocktails are the best part of this place. Carefully thought out, crafted and executed cocktails. Unusual cherrywood smoked (right at the bar) rye cocktail. Many of the menu items are carefully selected and avant-garde – perhaps too avant-garde, e.g., The pork belly came with a green pea and, I think, sprouted wheat concoction which not only did not complement the dish, it also smelled badly. The halibut, though, was perfectly prepared with a crispy skin left on. Nicely done. This restaurant may have some growing pains to go through but has much potential.
Outstanding seasonal menu and exemplary service..what more could you ask for?
Sabio was excellent. The server was friendly and the background music was excellent. We tried the 4 course meal and it was perfect, we wanted more but that's the way multiple course meals go. I highly recommend this restaurant! I will return!
