In the heart of historic downtown Pleasanton Sabio was designed by acclaimed San Francisco architect Jim Maxwell. The interior reflects a modern European feeling with an expansive wine wall and open kitchen surrounded by warm, Spanish themed tiles.
I would not eat there again, Service was very slow
Food mostly good. Some dishes were better than others. We enjoyed the butternut squash soup, pork belly, bread with lardos, pasta with mushrooms, duck, mousse dessert. The crab ravioli was so-so. Kanpachi sashimi was just okay. Service mostly good. Friendly but missed one of our orders and we had to reorder. I would go back though. Interior very nice- lots of wood, lighting warm. Felt inviting and a good place for a special occasion.
My wife and I had a belated Valentine’s Day dinner at Sabio, which was fantastic! Everything about our dinner experience was great! Thanks!
Great Valentine’s Day experience, food and service!
Madison our server was very good. For being there on Valentine's evening, we were never rushed. The food was pretty good overall. The pork belly was a bit over cooked and the pasta as well. But overall, we had a very nice evening. Thank you Madison.
I paid $40.00 for a Johnny Walker.... I am still disgusted with that. It not nesseccary to RIP your customers off with over charging them for a drink. Not to mention the manager that kept walking around the restaurant with a scowl on his face. Made my date feel uncomfortable. I also would like to say as that Osso Buco should be made with beef or lamb shank not sort ribs. That is if you want to do it right. Your need to make a profit has overwhelmed your need to do it right. I will say that the martini was good.
Absolutely amazing once again! Our third time having the 4 course dinner and this one was our favorite! The desserts were amazing!
Sabio is one of our very favorite spots to enjoy amazing tapas. Chef Hogan creates amazing marriages of foods that always make your palates smile. The Valentine's Day prix fixe menu was stellar and the service was both congenial, yet beautifully attentive. I'd recommend Sabio to anyone looking for culinary treats!
My wife and I enjoyed our evening at Sabio. Everything was great! Will be dining here again in the future.
Service was amazing, food was ok.
Every time we go, it seems the food is more delicious! I usually host a group and the other evening everyone, including our guest from Japan, said the dishes were great!
Brunch with the girls
We went earlier in the evening so it was nice and quiet. Great service, food and cocktails were delicious!
My Favorite Restaurant in Pleasanton. The food, cocktails, service and ambiance are fantastic. I have dined for lunch one time, and dinner on several occasions, and every visit has been perfect. The menu has something for everyone, and the service (especially if you are lucky enough to be waited on by Abigail) makes for a memorable dining adventure. For a special occasion you couldn't find a more beautiful restaurant, and for any evening when you don't feel like cooking Sabio's is a great alternative. It's a shame every city doesn't have at least one restaurant of this quality.
Food was very good, but they had run out of a couple of items. They could do with a couple more entrees. Server was very attentive but was trying to service to many tables.
The staff appear to be over-stretched running the bar and attempting to wait tables.
Not a place to be in a hurry for the table to be cleared or check to be delivered.
Sabio is a very nice place, food was good service not so much, we got stuck on a small table in the corner when they were plenty of other tables available on that evening we were rushed through our meal at one point they were not enough space on the table to accommodate everything our waitress was bringing at this price point the service need to better that what we received
Pleasant dining experience and tasty dishes off the menu.
I’ve been to Sabio’s before and was glad to see it more busy. The place is gorgeous, great menu and good service. We had a hiccup getting assigned a wait person but once discovered, they were extra attentive.
The food was delicious and we really enjoyed our evening.
We arrived a few minutes before our reservation time and were seated immediately in a nice booth by a friendly hostess. Service was on point throughout. As was the food! Chef Hogan and crew always do a great job and tonight was no exception. Oysters, duck and trout were perfectly prepared. The thoughtful wine list is appreciated and the craft cocktails are top-notch. Highly recommended.
Amazing experience from start to finish. Was greeted immediately upon walking in and checked in for our reservation. Got seated in a booth near the bar and brought water right away. Jenney, the bartender, was our server and was able to talk to us about the new menu items since we haven’t been in for a few months due to the holidays, and the new items sounded great. We were here for brunch but we will have to come back for dinner very soon, and to try the new BBQ at lunch, something Pleasanton lacks! The truffle grilled cheese, our classic standby, was a good starter with the beignets. This might be the best grilled cheese I’ve ever had in my life and my guest felt the same way! Chef Francis came by the table at the end of our meal which was a treat and got to chat about the menu; earlier on we saw him bring in some fresh produce from the farmers market around the corner, great that Sabio supports local farmers and takes advantage of some of the great ingredients grown around town. Will always come back to see what’s new! A true gem in downtown Pleasanton!
We got the NYE 4 course dinner. It was amazing!! I dont usually eat pork but I always get pork at Sabio because it is quality meat that is cooked to perfection! The only concern I have was the dessert, I am a huge fan of cake and the Lemon Pound Cake was very disappointing, I could not stomach the lemon curd on top, as it was far too sour, and the cake was hard as a rock and just not good. I was not able to eat my dessert, which was what I was looking forward to the most. Last time I was at Sabio our dessert for the 4 course was two mini donuts filled with a delicious fruit and topped with powdered sugar, it was amazing! I was expecting the same quality dessert, especially since the price was doubled from your regular 4 course. Thank you for a wonderful dinner! :)
Had the happy hour menu. Loved the oysters. Will be back to try the tasting menu.
Awesome Christmas Eve dinner! The food and service were fantastic. We seemingly tried every plate and the seasonal menu was on point. We especially liked the pork belly, gnocchi, and black cod. We finished off the dinner with a great chocolate cake. Between our family of five eating with a few drinks, we spent almost $300. A bit more than I would’ve liked, but well-worth it as we’ll likely start a Christmas Eve tradition at Sabio!
Excellent, high quality gourmet food. We were in San Francisco the week before we visited Sabio. The food at Danilo was better than high end San Francisco residents for 30% less.
There was a party going on and the food order took over 40 minutes to get. There was not allot of patrons other than the party. This was my first lunch experience. My dinner experience has always been great
Went there with the office for a retirement lunch. Staff was friendly and welcoming. We had 10 people in our party and things went off without a hitch. Food was cooked very well and the amount of food was more than expected. Overall, I will be going back.
It took over an hour to get our food, we had to have the entire meal boxed up to go.
Food was great-
Jamon/cheese w bread is small. Too small for 7.
Table bread fresh- yum.
Soup was divine.
Beet salad scrumptious.
Beef was great too.
Sat by the door in table of 8- too cold by door with backs to windows.
Bar is beautiful to look at tho!
Large table next to us very loud women- made it hard to hear grandma and it was her birthday.
We went on Thanksgiving, the food was exceptional both the prime rib & the smoked turkey as well as the remaining courses, the wine pairing was also well done. Where I was a little surprised was more of the protocol, we started with a soup, this is a higher end establishment, I would have expected the soup to be accompanied by a soup spoon, it wasn’t, then when they took away our bowls it appeared they wanted us to keep our tablespoon which we had just eaten soup with I just said no I don’t need a spoon. Then when the main course was served no steak knife, the meat was good but not cut with a butter knife tender, I had to request one, I kept thinking this would change, it didn’t, we had to put our forks on our plates to get them to take our silverware from dinner before desert was served, then when desert was brought out there was no silverware and it caught our waiter off guard, he said he would be right back with spoons. The food, attentiveness of service and overall value were very good but the approach to diners needs work.
Sabio tried to be fancy, but the execution was pretty poor. we started with the serrano jamon plate, and the jamon looked like it was bought at costco, and came with one tiny piece of cheese. for mains, my grandma ordered diver scallops. they showed up raw (crudo would be fine but none of that was suggested in the item description, and when she asked the waiter, he didn't mention it either) with diced beets (i think?) and a little bit of sauce on the side, but there was no flavor. Service was fine, and our wine was good, but the food was a deal breaker.
Food was decent, but overpriced. Our server was awful. Slow to greet us, gave us dirty plates for appetizers. Rarely checked in unless requested or interrupted her. Needs better training and attitude adjustment too.
Need better wine selection.
My husband and I think Sabio is hands down the best restaurant and bar in Pleasanton. Great handcrafted cocktails, and high quality creative food. We love coming to the bar for drinks and tapas and also for dinner. This visit was for our anniversary and we had a wonderful meal with great service. Highly recommend!
Sadly our service was seriously lacking. We were seated right away but waited about 10-15 minutes before a server approached our table. Then we waited another 10+ minutes to get our cocktails. We had to remind the staff two times that they had not brought a certain dish (appetizers). We had to ask again for more cocktails and it took at least 15 minutes for the second round to make it to our table. The restaurant was busy, but not so packed that a 15 minute wait for a drink made sense. The food prices are high which we knew but the experience and food did not make up for it.
We dined a Sabio on a Sunday for their brunch celebrating a friends birthday. Everyone had a different entree, and all of us agreed we had to return soon to try the restaurant for dinner. This is a lovely restaurant with friendly service and excellent food. The cocktails were excellent as well.
This is our favorite restaurant!
I had a reservation and arrived on time. The hostess showed us to our table which was horribly situated. I inquired about a different table and was tills none are available despite the fact that they're were at least a half dozen open tables. It was fifteen minutes after sitting, before our waitress showed up. She apologized for us being at a table that apparently "often gets forgotten" and proceeded to take our food and drinks order. Twenty minutes later, our appetizer showed up, and we had finished eating it ten minutes later before our water and wine were served! Once we finished our main course and drinks we were given a menu to order dessert, except it had no dessert on it "wrong menu". Needless to say we decided to get dessert somewhere else. We were there for over two hours, and four of the tables that were "not available" remained empty... The only reason I gave it two stars, is because the food was good.
The food and experience while dining at Sabio on Main is fantastic! I love being at a restaurant where you can tell the chef really puts his heart and soul into everything. The food was delicious and the flavors were spectacular. We will be back!!
