S3 Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Very nice sushi rolls. The wood grill seemed like a good choice but no one in our group tried it. Server was great. Hostess was a little pretentious about moving us to a different table. The 18% “service charge” automatically added to our group of 5 wasn’t explained so we assumed it was the gratuity.
I would definitely return.
The location is great; directly across from Ft Lauderdale beach. Sit on the deck and watch the waves roll in. And then...wait for your main course...and then, wait some more for your second guest's food to roll out (they told us they don't serve food at the same time)...and then, wait some more for more for the third guest's food to arrive, by which time yours is cold.
The restaurant is more vibrant and fun outside since if has a bar feel to it. The restaurant inside is massive with little ambience and a lot of noise. Food is mediocre. The filet came accompanied with pickles, a tomato, and some lettuce. The burrata came on top of car to (not a good combination). The sushi was mediocre too, with the ratio of rice to fish excessive.
I am unsure about the high ratings, but it must be the location (in front of beach). The food is slightly better than a traditional chain you see in suburbs. My thought is that place attracts precisely the suburbia that is looking to dine in the heart of fort Lauderdale.
Steak 954 has better food (quite good, with some minor mistakes), and is close by to S3 (note: although worst service than S3).
We had been regulars about a year ago and decided to go back for my wife’s birthday. Not the same, food wasn’t nearly up to what it was. Menu changed and seemed so did the quality. Extremely disappointing! Great place and scenery but service, food quality and bartender was subpar.
This place was amazing. We went for a birthday celebration. The food was great! We ordered sushi and we all shared. The service was exceptional. Diedra was so attentive to our needs and very personalable. The ambiance was perfect. We will definitely go back.
We had a small hiccup with the hostess who would not seat my husband until "the entire party was there and if you are late you could lose your table" We were there - ten minutes early- the two of us - I was in their ladies room which had a line due to an "issue" inside. No reason for her to be short. It would have been much easier - and profitable for S3 to seat him and let him order a drink while I waited. After we were seated and the hubs calmed down it was fine.
Visiting from out of town - I found S3 on open table and it was close to our hotel. It was a fantastic unexpected surprise. Carlos was our waiter and was fantastic! Everything from the edamame to the kale salad and Bavette steak was so delicious. I highly recommend it! It was a little loud - but a good energy loud... not obnoxious!
My wife and I are foodies. We love coming to Fort Lauderdale but have been disappointed with the restaurants we tried until now. Last night, S3 changed all that!
We now have a favorite Fort Lauderdale restaurant. The food was amazing, the ambience was perfect. Our server, Victor, took great care of us. He was the perfect balance of professionalism and personality.
It’s our second time going there and we loved it . We love the South African wine “Chocolat Block” and the diversity as far food option you can have Asian fusion food , Latino and Moroccan food.
Ashley the waitress made the evening even more enjoyable with her great service . KUDOS TO ASHLEY.
The desert options were a bit lacking in originality. The kale quinoa salade was good but not great. The short rib was phenomenal I didn't like the horseradish sauce it sat on but that is probably just because I don't like a lot of horseradish. For the price/quality I'd rather go to Kaluz or other neighboring restaurants.
We really liked this restaurant. We had goat cheese croquettes, tomato bread, Mac and cheese, dragon roll and steak. Too much food really. Mac and cheese was quite filling. Could have left off dragon roll or steak & would still have had plenty of food. Service was fine. It was raining so we sat outside. Bar is covered though - we don’t drink so we didn’t do that.
We've enjoyed S3 several times in the past, however, yesterday's visit was very disappointing. We sat at the bar upon arrival and there were 3 bar staff and only 3 people at the bar. We sat there for 10 minutes before we were acknowledged. The first comment to us was "can I have your credit card to keep your tab open?" I told her we hadn't even ordred drinks yet. She apologized and then we sat there several more minutes before another server took our drink order.
At dinner, our food was good overall , but not up to the previous visits. The Red Moon Sushi roll was excellent. The grilled brussel sprouts were limp and greasy. The Grilled Caesar was bland and "grilled" was a mystery. Our server Candace was the highlight of the meal. She was engaging and helpful, with a great personality.
I did note on our open table and again to the hostess that we were celebrating a special occasion. There was ZERO acknowledgement of this.
I don't think we will be returning to S3 anytime in the future.
This restaurant does not disappoint. Having dined here many times we know that the food is going to be great and you cannot beat the location and the ambiance. On this trip we did notice that the service was not up to its usual excellence. Our waiter seemed to disappear for longer than usual stretches leaving awkward gaps in the meal. Aside from that the short rib empanadas, sushi and half chicken in the Tabasco sauce were fantastic. I know we will be back again and again and look forward to our next visit.
My girlfriend an I stayed at the hotel and decided to eat in the restaurant. We were very pleased with our dining experience all around. My girlfriend is a vegan so it tends to be a bit difficult to find suitable dining options for her but we had no trouble. Our server had been eating vegan on and off so she made a great recommendation of the veggie roll and tweaked some of the ingredients. We also got the rosemary frittes which were amazing and I got the California roll as well as a JB roll. Everything was fantastic. We even decided to come back for lunch the next day it was so good. She got the veggie roll again with a slight variation to the night before and I got a turkey burger melt which was spectacular. We will certainly be coming back in the future.
We were on vacation and went to this restaurant twice as we were staying next door. First time we did small plates, and they were excellent. Second time we did entrees, and they were equally as good. We sat at the bar the first night and Shea and Shi-Shi were fantastic! They gave great advice, were friendly and very attentive. The second time we sat at a table, and our waiter, Jose, was equally great. We sat outside both times, and what a great spot across the street from the beach. The amber lighting due to the turtle nesting season outside makes for an interesting dinner as you can't see the color of your food at all! But that didn't stop us from enjoying every bite.
Nice place to sit outside. It is really loud due to the music though. Service was just ok. My spouse even told the server it was my birthday and didn’t do ANYTHING to make it special or recognize it. Food was good. Could use a few more betteecwines on their wine list. Overall it was average.
Food was pretty good , Service was slow, and the worst part was the place was really warm as in very hot. Also the smell of the wood fire oven was very annoying .
On the positive side the edamame was the best I ever had .
Mac and cheese was good and so was the steak .
We didn’t have dessert since the waiter left the dessert menu and then disappeared for 20 minutes .
My husband will not go back and I would consider it on a cold day in winter .
