Empellon Taqueria
Mexican | West Village
161 reviews

Open for Lunch, Dinner & Brunch. We opened our doors on March 22nd, 2011 with the intention of treating tacos with a high level of respect and serving them in a fun environment.  Which is how I believe tacos should be enjoyed. We designed the menu with the idea that most ingredients worth eating can benefit further by being placed atop a well-made tortilla. We push our kitchen team to explore the ubiquitous flavors that we all love about Mexican cooking in this country as well as the less obvious ones that we all should love. Empellon's approach to cuisine is informed by authenticity but is not limited by it.

Empellon Cocina
Mexican | East Village
96 reviews

There is a fine line between taking a cuisine in a new direction and stripping it of its soul (and Mexican food has some serious soul). This is a belief that we keep in mind when contemplating the cuisine at Empellón Cocina.

Garlic, ginger and scallions taste different coming from a wok then they do from a saute pan. Technique and application define a cuisine just as much as the ingredients. In fact, I would argue more so. And that is the philosophy of our kitchen in the East Village. At Empellón Cocina we are dedicated to the myriad of fundamental techniques and applications that make Mexican cooking taste Mexican. But we are dedicated to using them with our own sensibility. Empellón's approach to cuisine is informed by authenticity but not limited by it.

Geronimo Tequila Bar and Soutwest Grill - Fairfield
Southwest | Fairfield (Connecticut)
39 reviews

Geronimo Southwest Grill and Tequila Bar is based upon the authentic cuisine of Santa Fe. Deeply rooted in the traditional foods of the Native Americans of the southwest. Southwestern cuisine takes its cues from the land. Its primary ingredients consist of corn, beans, chile peppers, rice, tomatoes, avocados, pork and bison. Slow-stewing meats were a means by which to tenderize the less than stellar cuts of beef, and the natural heat from the various chile peppers gave southwest cooking its original reputation as being hot and spicy. The bold flavors of this rustic cuisine are now considered to be an art form.

In July 2007, New York welcomes Johnny Utah's, the urban cowboy experience, to Rockefeller Center. With hearty recipes of our cultural ancestors, Johnny Utah’s will offer a menu full of zesty Texan BBQ ribs, savory steak fajitas, & authentic Mexican tequila.

Almost every seat in the house has a view of the dining room’s main attraction, Manhattan’s only mechanical bull. Showcasing the full essence of the Southwestern theme, the beast is theatrically surrounded with cascading metal chains & burning candles that echo “rings of fire,” signifying the celebration of the icon. The interior was designed as an interpretation of an old western mining shaft with salvaged antique tiles & pony-hide furniture. Johnny Utah’s is sure to serve as an ideal location for both delicious Southwestern food & drinks, & late night reveling & bull riding.
