Wonderful evening. Mike is the ultimate Southern gentleman and host. His management of the restaurant makes every guest feel like they are home. Lea Melissa provided 5 star service. My daughter felt well celebrated on her birthday with lovely chocolate scripting on her dessert plate. The salads we ordered were refreshing and creative. The beet salad with fresh burrata made our hearts smile. The summer salad of arugula, fresh strawberries, candied sunflower seeds, balsamic vinegar drizzled with local honey was a song of summer. The fried green tomatoes with pimento cheese (sans the bacon jam) for us, were scrumptious. Our entrees, grouper in a curry sauce, and halibut in a lighter lemon butter sauce were delicacy dives. The chocolate cake with ice cream and chocolate sauce delighted my daughter. Bravo, Anson!! Always a treat on our trips to Charleston. A dining must for anyone visiting or living in the area.

Downtown Charleston
About the restaurant
Located on Charleston's Upper King Street, Indaco (Italian for "indigo") serves rustic Italian cuisine. Wood-fired pizzas, hand-crafted pastas, housemade salami and cured sausages fill the restaurant's menu which can be enjoyed family-style or a la carte. With community tables, an open kitchen, and a comfortable atmosphere, Indaco can accommodate 100 guests for a casual night of food and drinks. The wine list is focused on affordable Italian varietals, the Negroni cocktail is on tap, and the fresh sodas are made in-house. The massive wooden doors on Upper King Street are your first indication that Indaco is different from the typical Charleston restaurant. Rustic details continue inside with butcherblock tables, lime-wash walls, and white brick. An open kitchen with nearby community tables lets interested diners keep an eye on the action inside the kitchen. Outside, a patio puts you streetside to watch Upper King Street's vibrant nightlife scene.

Everything was amazing! We felt so taken care of and was overall satisfied with our meal and service! The only issue we had was the temperature- I believe that air flow was different for us bc we were in an enclosed booth- but both my husband and I were visibly sweating when we left the restaurant. When we got up to leave and use the restroom it didn’t feel nearly as hot- so I do believe it was airflow in the enclosed booth. We did have coffee with dessert bc it is a tradition for us- but though it didn’t help matters- we were both hot prior to that. Just felt like the temp was worth mentioning! Overall- it was one of our top 5 experiences! We will be back!
