Kampai is becoming our new favorite spot for dining out. The wagyu tataki is delightful. As is the sake aburi and soft shell crab. Going with the chef's choice of sashimi is the way to go!

About the restaurant
Nestled hillside at the base of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort lies the intimate and rustic Il Villaggio Osteria. An eatery reminiscent of the comfortable, community-focused restaurants that pepper the Italian countryside, an evening at Osteria transports, making you feel as though you've traveled to one of Italy's hidden gems - all without the jetlag. A salumi bar, pizza oven and cozy main dining room marry seamlessly to complement the authentic flavors of the expansive menu, while an outdoor fireplace warms during the sometimes chilly Wyoming nights. Osteria presents a menu perfect for multicourse dining, composed of homemade pastas and pizzas, seasonal salads, and imported meats and cheeses from the world's finest purveyors.

Wonderful service and great food. A little pricey but in line with other restaurants near by. They noted our anniversary and compd a dessert which was unexpected and greatly appreciated. We had the arancini (small portion for the price), Cesar salad (again a small portion for the price), and then shared a pizza. The dessert was cheesecake and huckleberry ice cream which was excellent! Only odd thing was the music playlist which was an early 90s rap (beastie boys, run dmc etc) which just did not really fit the atmosphere.

Dining at the Lodge has always been a thoroughly exceptional experience. This time, however, the bass was served overcooked and the elk way undercooked for medium rare. Sent both dishes back and both were corrected. The bass was good. The elk lacked flavor. Service was very good. The guitarist performing in the Fireside Lounge (Byron Tomingas) was absolutely exceptional, and in my opinion, hearing him play outweighed the dinner experience.

This was our seventh or eighth visit and the food remains superb and the service outstanding. Regarding the latter, our waiter, Matt, was very attuned to our needs. The scenery is breathtaking.
