Owner and Executive Chef R.J. Apozaga has spent the last 20 years perfecting his skills behind the sushi bar.
R.J. and wife Dana opened MaKi (named after their children while also meaning sushi roll in Japanese) in May of 2018.

The service, food and the atmosphere was impeccable!! I was astounded at the attentiveness of each of the servers, the quality and taste of the food and the decor of the restaurant itself. This experience was truly the best I have ever had. I went for my birthday and will definitely be back in the near future. Highly recommend!!

Zanzibar is a hidden gem on Hilton Head and I hope everyone finds it!! From the incredible restaurant atmosphere, amazing staff, and food that will keep you coming back!! It’s right behind The Sea Shack and Captain Woody’s…pass both of those and go to Zanzibar. My wife and I loved it…took her there for her birthday and she had the best time!!!

Chef Lynden Zuniga grew up in Honduras, CA and worked in kitchens through high school to pay rent. He quickly realized making people happy through his cooking would be his lifelong passion. Shortly after marrying his wife Sally, they dreamt of their concept of Tio's and in 2018 it became a reality!

Quality matters. We're committed to serve the highest quality steak, pork, chicken, and seafood. Our proteins are always fresh- sourced locally and domestically across the United States.

You'll hear the sizzle of the grill in our open kitchen as each meal is made to order. Pairing our high-quality proteins with our delicious salsas and vegetables, rice, beans, and tortillas is a winning combination. We pride ourselves on making great tasting food made with simple ingredients.

Our experience over all was very good. We didn’t wait long for the food. The waitress was ok, not super friendly but did check on us periodically. The food was good. I had the chicken fried rice, which was really good. We also had the Mongolian beef, it was ok. I remember it being better, it’s been a while, the quality of the steak was just ok. Also had sesame chicken and teriyaki chicken both were good. Also had turkey lettuce wraps, very good and the pork dumplings, very good. I had the espresso martini, fantastic!!

We had a party of 6 including 2 young grand daughters. We were immediately seated. The person on stilts made each of the a balloon character. Food was good and the atmosphere was excellent
