This is one of the most unique sushi eating experiences! The chef and owner are one of 35 in the country that import directly from Japan. It was incredible and I highly recommend! We will be back when Zach opens up his permanent place!

Reston
About the restaurant
Welcome to the new Mari Sushi, located just off of Reston Parkway.

We spent years trying to figure out why innovative and exquisite sushi can only be found inside the beltway.

Having procured some of the best chefs in the area and sourcing the highest quality ingredients, we now try to break that stigma.

Modern sushi, close to home.

From our steadfast preparation to make lunch easy, to our carefully curated dinner options, with a special Omakase on Friday an Saturdays, we aim to please. For the little ones who may not enjoy nigiri, we have plenty of options.

Our Friday and Saturday Omakase offerings are prepared with the notion that every customer leaves totally fulfilled. So after the planned courses, feel free to order anything again, on us. Please note: when reserving Omakase, please mention "Omakase" in the reservation notes, so we can prepare for your visit.

Went with two great friends for a night of sampling from the sushi bar. Chef John made amazing sushi treats for us. Food was wonderful, service was great and half off beers made for a fun filled night. Can’t wait to go back! Great addition to the Reston area.

Good food: fine quality meat (not the greatest, but good nevertheless). Excellent lady (Yao Yao) assisting at the table. Two less good points: (1) we were informed only when we arrived that we would have the table for 1 hour 45 minutes. May seem enough, but food did not start to arrive until 20 minutes had elapsed. At the end, we had to rush to finish our s'mores so we could vacate in time. (2) We had notified the restaurant that it was my son's 18th birthday, but they did not sing for him, bring out a piece of cake for him, or acknowledge in any way. Disappointing.

The food doesn’t disappoint. The noise level from the other table was unbelievable. And at least one individual was vaping at the table.

About the restaurant
Chaplin's Restaurant & Bar is a 1930's style Japanese Ramen House and cocktail bar. Chaplin's Executive Chef and Partner, Myo Htun, is originally from Burma, but was cooking ramen in Japan at a young age. Myo received a blessing from his mentor in Japan after nearly 30 years of cooking in Japan, to come to America and continue to showcase his authentic Ramen and traditional Japanese cuisine. Chaplin's Restaurant demonstrates the aesthetic of a bustling ramen house in Japan in the 1930's silent film era. There is also a large outdoor dining area that is dog friendly. Chaplin's is located in the heart of the Historic Shaw neighborhood. And it is open until last call 7 days a week. Chaplin's received a Plate certification in the Michelin Guide in 2020. And it is located steps from the convention center and popular Logan Circle, 14th street and City Market.

Reliable, Japanese Sushi restaurant with some creative rolls and nice Hibachi offerings. But the standout here is the Ramen and the varied selections. This is where Toryumon truly shines. I had to ding them a star as I found the quality of their sashimi to not quite be there, fresh but not as high quality as what I would expect. The service is exemplary, with highly attentive waitstaff and conscientious servers. Value was what you'd expect from a Foggy Bottom restaurant close to big law firms and the GW campus.

About the restaurant
Please be advised that the reservation is for the Izakaya on the second floor and not the ramen shop on the first floor. The ramen menu is not available at the Izakaya. The Izakaya, located on the second floor of Daikaya, is a casual restaurant that serves Japanese comfort food to accompany a diverse selection of bar offerings. The izakaya experience is perfect for after work, before a big night out, as a full supper, or for late-night bites with friends. The cuisine is freestyle and adaptive in nature. Each izakaya in Japan puts its own touch on its menu items. The plates are typically small so that one can sample many different items.
