An outstanding meal for the 4 of us. Had a sticky orange beef tips appetizer - delicious. Three had the Halibut and risotto special. Outstanding!! I had the bronzed grouper. Good but not great. Desserts delicious - chocolate peanut butter pie scrumptious. Cinnamon crème brûlée was tasty. We love Savour and will be back!!

My wife and I revisited one of our Pensacola favorites, the Union Public House. We discovered it during our first trip to Pensacola in 2019. The food is Southern home-style with a contemporary twist. We arrived almost an hour early. They had a table ready for us anyway. We asked if they could switch us to one of the booths which they did. It is a comfortable, open room. It can get a little loud, but you have enough space that it is easy to converse and hear each other. We usually try to select dishes we haven’t had before, but we enjoyed the Tuna Tartare starter on our last visit. It is served with a truffle soy vinaigrette. It also has seaweed, small sliced onions, Jalapenos, citrus slices, and rice crisps. The tuna was very fresh just like the first time we had the dish. For the main course, our server recommended their signature Crispy Pork Shank or the Jerk Redfish. Both sounded great, but we decided to go with the pork. The pork was cooked perfectly. It fell off the bone and the skin was “Cuban” crispy. It is served with a smoked potato mash, sautéed brussel sprouts, bacon and onion marmalade, and a jus. Each component was very flavorful and complemented each other. We finished our meal with their classic southern Buttermilk Pie. This is served with a blueberry compote and a roasted corn ice cream. We had this on our first visit and wanted to retry because it was so unusual. Again, the plate was pretty much “licked” clean. Our server was very attentive and the staff works together to make sure you have an enjoyable dining experience. Teresa and I like to try new places, but it is really great when you find someplace which consistently delivers on flavor, quality, and service. The Union Public House in Pensacola is definitely on our recommended list.

Lots of fun and we had a good time! Expect to stay 2 hours but it was a very enjoyable experience with great service!

We pay tribute to the rugged individualism of Pensacola’s unique historic cultural significance, specifically its Spanish influence. Real and super-rustic, the kitchen presents Old World cookery at its roots, with all the layers peeled back. Brother Fox utilizes a live-fire approach to cooking almost everything that we serve, from coal-roasted oysters to Carne Asada for two, served with hot tortillas. Our beautiful outdoor seating sets the stage for a casual meet up with friends for a glass of wine from regions near and far, carafes of Bathtub Gin or Sangrias from the bar. Inside, the cuisine and casually elegant design are the embodiment of a “neighborhood” spot that caters to visitors and residents alike, for special occasions, celebrations, and some of the finest wood-fired cuisine in Pensacola. Imagine food with soul, both exciting and traditional, in a breezy setting, right in the heart of Old East Hill.

We wrapped up this quick trip to Pensacola with a first visit to Brother Fox. The restaurant had recently received national attention which is how I discovered it when I was looking for some new places to eat on this trip. They have a happy hour menu where you can get small versions of the tapas so you can try 3-4. We decided to do that. We got the patatas bravas, chorizo, and manchego.These are only small-tasting plates. For our main, we ordered the Prime Skirt Steak Asada. This is 2 pounds carne asada, wood-fired, with tortillas, grilled onion and piquillo peppers. It is definitely designed for two people. The meat was cooked well with a fantastic char. The tortillas were also wood-fired. The onions were sweet and the peppers were also well done. Our only critique was they gave us five tortillas instead of six (or maybe eight?). We decided to wrap up the meal with the churros. These are one of Teresa’s favorites and it is hard to find them authentically done. It didn’t hurt that my mouth was craving sugar after its encounter with the jalapeño. It was the perfect finish to a great meal. We were happy we had chosen Brother Fox for our wrap-up night in Pensacola.
