Best meal and service we have had out on the peninsula in a long time! Excellent service, everything tasted incredible ... from the mozzarella appetizer to the meals to dessert. Beyond five stars ... we WILL be back soon! If you are on the fence, definitely try Mezzaluna ... you won't be disappointed!

The newest creation from the owners of the beloved Villa Azteca in Downtown Salinas (Salinas City Center), the eatery honoring the Alvarez family patriarch will open Summer 2023 in Carmel Plaza. The 5,000-square-foot restaurant will have indoor dining, bar seating and a small outdoor space, serving specialty Michoacán dishes as well as other Mexican favorites, incorporating three generations of family recipes.

3rd time to savor and enjoy this young restaurant, and it was the best dinner outing yet! Food is authentic to the region, wonderfully fresh and made in house, delicious & creative. 4 friends with us rated it very highly! Decor and table settings are lovely and unique, the service is attentive and knowledgeable. And Chef Andres came by to chat with us at the end of our meal. The crab chile relleno is to die for, mild but very tasty. The fajitas and enchiladas all got big thumbs up!! Cocktails & mocktails are presented beautifully in icy pretty glassware, with flavored salts and citrus garnishes. Highly recommend this beautiful and delicious new restaurant!!!

Robata Grill & Sake Bar has the highest quality fresh fish and seafood. Head sushi chef, Cirilo, has been with the restaurant for 23 years. Robata Grill is known for their authentic sushi rolls, nigiri, and Japanese style pork ribs. The outdoor patio is spacious, inviting and features a large cozy firepit. As soon as you walk into the restaurant you will notice the beautiful Japanese woodwork craftmanship. Fresh fish dishes abound here! Barramundi was served with black beans, rice, veggies over a crispy tortilla shell and was excellent. My wife had the pasta primavera with additional grilled salmon and loved it. We also split a Caesar salad to start and it was plenty for two. Wine list included a wide variety of CA vineyards and per glass prices were reasonable. Note: we ate here in late September, after the tourist season had past, so it was quieter than it is during the very busy summer months, due to it's proximity to Asilomar Conference Grounds and the Pacific Grove beach scene.

We were seated immediately and pleasantly by someone who I think was the manager, very nice man. Our server Stephanie, could not have been more professional or knowledgeable about the food offerings as well as being pleasant and fun to talk to. Our dinners and appetizer were delicious and well presented. A gem of a restaurant, relaxing and easily accessible from Hwy. 1.

We come to Yafa every year when we visit Carmel in September. We like the dog friendly support and Mediterranean menu. The vegan cauliflower steak was wonderfully spiced but the lamb shank was tender but uninspired in terms of spice or flavor. It's not a good sign when I had to ask for salt and pepper.
