Here, Jean‑Georges cultivates a truly seasonal, farm-to-table cuisine, with ingredients sourced from the Hudson Valley and New England, whenever possible. Constructed in 1833 as a residence and serving later as an inn, the building has been painstakingly renovated to preserve as many of the original materials as possible, including four working fireplaces. Thomas Juul-Hansen designed the restaurant’s interior with a modern yet rustic sensibility; zinc and marble accent stone and reclaimed wood. The restaurant’s lighting, artfully conceived by Hervé Descottes, employs paper shades and Edison fixtures to create warmth throughout.

Food was amazing! Only reason to give 4 stars for service is because there must have been a server change in the middle of our meal and the new server did not know that we were celebrating a birthday(the original server knew but did not tell us they were leaving before our meal was over) so we did not get a birthday candle with our dessert. I know it’s a small thing but it really is a nice touch when a restaurant brings out dessert with a birthday candle. Highly recommend the Crispy salmon sushi, Steamed shrimp salad, Herb crusted Salmon and the Peach cobbler!!

If you’re in White Plains and haven’t checked out Freebird Kitchen and Bar, you’re definitely missing out. We were very much out-of-towners, but the team made us feel totally at home from the moment we walked in. The vibe is fun and energetic, and the service was top-notch. Our waiter, Stefan, was amazing—super friendly and knew the menu like the back of his hand. Even though he’s gluten-sensitive and couldn’t try everything himself, he still gave great recommendations and helped us navigate the menu with ease. You can tell the place is all about good energy and growing talent. They’re building something special—not just for guests, but for their team too. Highly, highly recommend Freebird Kitchen and Bar to anyone in the area. It’s the kind of place that leaves a great impression.
