South Block is a North-Carolina inspired BBQ hall and brewery on the edge of Mission, in Calgary. Upstairs you’ll find a large dining room, 20-seat bar, and a year-round indoor/outdoor beer garden. Downstairs hosts our stage, live music hall, and brewerey – where we brew our entire draft lineup from classic staples like our Pilsner, Lager, and IPAs, to our unique seasonal Peach Bourbon Ale and Mango Wheat Ale.

Behind the bar, we run a hand-crafted cocktail program and offer a whiskey list of over 200 varietals, including American, Canadian, Irish, Scottish, and Japanese whiskeys.

However, the biggest draw has to be our slow-smoked barbecue menu. Inspired by the flavours of North Carolina, our team arrives early every morning to smoke our famous brisket, pulled pork, ribs, and more for up to 14 hours.

It was quite a nice time. Went there with my boyfriend for his birthday and the themed drinks were very creative, although I think the price per portion was a bit steep. Good ingredients and food so that makes up for it a bit at least.

They were great the place was really full and it was right before a concert so a little on the loud side. The service was good we didn’t feel rushed the timing was good giving us enough time to get to our seats. The pre-set menu was very good and had good options for the price.

The outside table was really nice, did not get to go inside the restaurant. Ordered the lemon linguine with garlic shrimp, and it was absolutely delicious! The Okanagan wine was very good. Nice selection. The only thing, the service was a little slow, and the waiter seemed to confuse who ordered what at the three or four tables outside, and he did this more than once. Might not be indicative of the overall service of the restaurant, but this particular waiter was not very good. Otherwise the food look delicious at other tables and mine was definitely a great meal.
