About the restaurant

Riccardo was born in Florence, Italy and grew up in Boston, MA. Marybeth, a Sioux Falls native, ventured to the east coast as a nanny and then nursing school in Somerville, MA. The two met, fell in love, and became engaged on Martha’s Vineyard island. Moving back to Sioux Falls in 1999 and working at several area restaurants, they opened R Wine Bar in 2018. As owners of R Wine Bar, Riccardo and Marybeth are passionate about one thing: people. They believe that people don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care. With a curated wine list, local craft beer on tap, and beautifully executed menu, Riccardo and Marybeth are thrilled to bring R Wine Bar & Kitchen to the East Bank of Downtown Sioux Falls along with their General Manager, Jane Allen, Assistant Manager Bailey Bernal, Sous Chef Caleb Carr, Sous Chef Esteban Gonzalez, and Culinary Director Adam Schumacher.

Riccardo and Marybeth welcome you to their 3rd property, Maribella Ristorante. Opening R Wine Bar & Kitchen in 2018, and Vespa Catering and Brix Wine Bar in 2022, they have created a culture of hospitality for guests who feel like family. Riccardo was born in Florence, Italy and moved to Boston when he was 5-years-old. He stayed in the Boston area for college and attended Tufts University. Marybeth, born and raised in Sioux Falls, SD, moved to Boston to be a nanny and went to Somerville School of Nursing. The two met in Medford, MA, dated and became engaged in Oak Bluffs on Martha’s Vineyard in 1996. Relocating to Sioux Falls, SD in 1999, Riccardo and Marybeth have developed a reputation for making people feel welcome with their three boys, Dante, Berent, and Jaxon. Together with their hand-picked team, Riccardo and Marybeth bring the best parts of hospitality to life in their restaurants, for both their staff and guests. The decor unabashedly integrates masculine and feminine: wild west meets gypsy...from the cowhide paneled bar, quartzite bar top, iron railroad track footrest and reclaimed wood tables to the vintage tiles, jeweled wallpaper, Moroccan chandeliers and antique Indian columns ...no detail is left untouched. The tomato crab bisque was great, the Bourbon Apple Pork (award winning) was delicious and flavorful. Our waitress Vanessa was fun and engaging with a great personality.

Food and service was excellent. Very nice wine list, with a great variety. All serving staff was on top of everything. We had the calamari — a generous portion of fried deliciousness. I highly recommend the Duroc pork chop; it was some of the best pork I have had. Again, a generous portion; next time we would share it. I took over half home. My husband was happy with the lobster tortelloni. The Chianti was fabulous — Lamole di Lamole Maggiolo Chianti Classico. No room for a dessert. We will be back. I want to try the salmon, the arancini, the pizza….

There were six of us last night, my brother and sister-in-law flew in from Georgia and they wanted to go somewhere. They don’t have there so I took him to Granite city the food was amazing. My husband said his waffle fries were cold and soggy. The waiter we had was not very friendly. Got upset with my husband who’s hard of hearing because he was in the military for 24 years and it was loud in there. He was Very rude to him when he was trying to order. He did ask us about refills or dessert. He wasn’t happy when I asked for a refill of water, so nobody ask for another drink or refill on their soda. We will go back because the food is great, but if he’s our waiter, we’re gonna ask for another one.
