A really nice restaurant with a lot of flavors and food options. Our waitress really knew the menu well and made some great recommendations. What is really nice is the lack of crowd noise there. Some of the steak houses in town are just really loud. This was almost like sitting at your dinner table and being able to have a conversation. So great food, great wine, great atmosphere.

We dined here two nights in a row while in Birmingham for work. Excellent food and service in a modern setting. It felt very relaxing despite how busy the restaurant was and we didn’t feel rushed. We had different entrées, drinks, and desserts each night and everything we ordered was cooked perfectly and well seasoned. The scallops, branzino, and lemon olive oil cake were standouts. This was definitely a better choice than the other numerous chain restaurants in the area.

This was my first visit to Char Bar No. 7. My friend and I were seated at a high top table in the bar area. Service was prompt and friendly. I ordered a ribeye, medium rare, with the field greens salad and tater tots. My friend ordered a filet, medium, with a caesar salad and broccoli. Both steaks were very good and cooked as ordered. The sides were freshly prepared and hot, and the salads were fresh and crisp. There's a short list of wines by the glass, mostly California selections. My friend asked a question about the white wines but the server informed us that she was underage so she could serve the wine but hadn't tried any of it. However, she brought my friend a sample of the one she asked about so she could decide. The restaurant was out of my first choice but the second was available and a good substitute. I will definitely visit this restaurant again. The menu prices are very reasonable, the dining room was pleasant and comfortable, and the service was good. This would be a good choice for a casual date night or friends' night out.
