About the restaurant

Chef Hakan is a second-generation baker who learned his craft in his uncle's bakery in Istanbul. His love for baking started out with making pastries and sourdough bread at first.

Hit by a pizza obsession later on, similar to Anatolian flatbread, Chef Hakan studied, experimented, and observed various pizza-making methods. He participated in pizza expos, visited pizza restaurants, and tasted different styles of pizza around the world until buying a nice wood-fired pizza oven and creating his own recipe.

Then time came for Hakan to open up his restaurant. Previously known as Napa Baking Company is now serving in Napa as Croccante. Chef Hakan offers long-fermented Pan-style Detroit and Chicago thin tavern style pizza.

Croccante currently holds an award from 50 top pizza, as one of the 50 top pizzerias in USA in the "excellent" category as well as a nomination by SF Chronicle as One of the Top Pizzerias in the Bay Area.

DO NOT MISS THIS PLACE!! The Detroit style pizza is beyond description. The flavors are amazing and the thick, light airy crust with crispy bottom cannot be compared to any pizza we’ve ever had. The wait staff are super friendly and responsive. 5 Star all the way.

The Star features the same delicious Chicago-style deep dish pizza that made Little Star Pizza famous, with their consistent Guardian's Best of the Bay Pizza. We have an extended menu including salads, appetizers, and sandwiches. We feature an artisan full bar as well as a diverse beer and wine menus. Montesacro is the first “Pinseria Romana” in the United States.
The interior resembles old Roman “Fraschette”, offering a wide selection of artisanal cheeses and cured meats, cold dishes from Roman tradition and a modern take on pinsa, a low fat, low calorie and easy to digest flat bread made with a blend of rice, soy and wheat flour imported directly from Rome, all GMO free.
Our wine list represents mostly old world regions. We carry wines that are made from grape varietals native to their respective areas. We feature smaller producers of less known wines with a focus on organic, biodynamic and natural agriculture.

I had an absolutely fantastic dining experience at Montesacro! From the moment we walked in, the warm, inviting atmosphere made us feel very welcomed. The service was impeccable. Our server, Susanna, was attentive, knowledgeable, and made excellent recommendations. And the food? Simply exquisite. The Asparagi seasonal salad was a symphony of flavors, and the pizza was cooked to perfection. We felt that the price was very reasonable for the high quality ingredients and the overall experience. I highly recommend this restaurant and can't wait to return

Absolutely love their pizza and the wedge salad was delicious. But most of all their cocktails have always been a solid foundation (we had the Manhattan and old-fashioned). Our service was outstanding…whereas the competition down the street is some of the worse I’ve seen. Opportunity for improvement: It’s time to refinish the tables. It seem that the cleaning product may have eaten away at the finish, causing him to be slightly sticky.

I had a beautiful time for my birthday. The patio is charming. There were no bad appetizers. We love a good butter-roasted Brussels spout. My friends with gluten intolerances said this was the best pizza they have ever had. The sourdough crust was fresh and delicious. I’ll be back!

Food was excellent but I wasn’t a huge fan of the service model. I don’t mind ordering through Toast but it took a really long time to get drinks (food was a bit faster) and there was no one to follow up with and no one checked on us. We were told our server would be checking in but that never happened.
