The Grafton Inn is a proud supporter of Vermont’s pioneering farm-to-table philosophy. Our historic inn and two restaurants in southern Vermont offer on-site dining year-round and feature locally-sourced ingredients prepared by food-loving professionals to create timeless, hearty dishes that will please any palate.

The Phelps Barn, originally a carriage house for guests' horses, provides a unique and rustic VT dining experience. Even the hayloft has been repurposed and renovated, providing an elevated seating area as well as our 8-tap bar. It is a fast pace restaurant with live music usually scheduled on the weekends.

If you are looking for a quieter space to have dinner or celebrate a special occasion, we would recommend our 1801 Tavern located inside the Main Inn. This historic space provides a cozy and elevated dining atmosphere. Within the 1801 Tavern you’ll find our recently renovated Pine Room Bar with a working fireplace.

As always dining at the Grafto Inn’s Phelps Barn is pleasant experience. The food is always delicious and the wait staff is friendly and professional. Can’t wait for our next visit.

! We are located directly across from City Hall at 55 Washington Street, there is a black gate with a Roots sign on it and you will find us 20 yards into a park called Center Street Marketplace, the restaurant has limited visibility from the street. !

Roots is one of Rutland’s better restaurants. The service is friendly and efficient. This evening’s meal was good, the highlight would be the Brussels sprouts and their “fondue” (not really a fondue) was also well done. The main’s were okay, the burger came cooked as ordered, but it apparently had zero seasoning during preparation and was simply okay …. needed salt and pepper which for me have a bigger impact when done during cooking. The beet salad was also okay, the beets had the right consistency but essentially flavorless. I don’t know if the kitchen is trying to appease the world by not seasoning, but it’s not working — except maybe for those who object to everything.

My son and I had the GF meatloaf which was wonderful. My daughter distillery burger and loved it. Small menu but food is great.We choose this restaurant for it's GF options staff is will versed in this.

The Harpoon Brewery Taproom and Beer Garden is open 7 days/week for outside/inside dining or take-out food orders. We are open Sunday through Wednesay from 11AM to 6PM- Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 11AM to 8PM. We have live music every Thursday from 5pm-8pm. Our retail store is also open for merchandise, beer, cider, and hard coffee to go. You must have proper ID that verifies you are 21+ to pick up alcoholic beverages.

We sat out on the patio-gorgeous view. The wine and drink menu awesome and lots of local VT beers. It is great to have the salad bar option and it was filled with super fresh items. Prime rib delicious, eggplant delicious, kids food abundant and fried platter overflowing! Service was prompt and friendly-going back again and again!

There was a huge group next to us with a lot of kids who were basically hovering right over our table doing dance moves. I love this restaurant, but that was slightly annoying. I would want to be placed in a separate place next time. I think couples that are alone shouldn’t be put near big tables with a lot of children.

The food was really good. The Caesar salad was great and so was the chicken parm. My wife had the eggplant parmigian and it was good also. The restaurant was overall a pleasant surprise. Wait staff was terrific
