Smell the delicious smokiness of Bendigo’s only dedicated steakhouse & grill, where we use local redgum on the grill; there’s nothing quite like the flavour of meat cooked over redgum. The natural smoky flavours and aromas created by this unique timber are something truly special. In the finest tradition of steakhouses, we use locally sourced meat and the very best in fresh, regional produce.

Showcasing 350 wines, including 28 by the glass, including some seriously interesting wines curated by our inhouse Sommelier. With local wines taking pride of place, including some intriguing European offerings, plus a supporting cast of spirits, beers and other beverages, including a decent alcohol-free selection. Overall dining experience was great. Note the food is Asian fusion, so don't expect genuine Asian food. We loved the chicken skewers (so tender) and the beef cheeks in curry. However, we found Frankie's balls to be pretty bland and really no different to dim sims from the corner shop. Likewise, Frankie's donuts were also disappointing and tasted no different from gourmet sausages from Woolies or Coles. Service and attention was great. Atmosphere was also top notch.

The Merrijig Kitchen is housed in the historic Merrijig Inn {1842), known as Victoria's oldest Inn. Situated across from the Port Fairy wharf, in the heart of gorgeous Port Fairy.
We are HIGH on atmosphere and write our menu daily, after Tanya chats with our fish monger, veggie growers, local butcher and any of our wonderful local gardeners who may pop in with their backgarden produce.

A Restaurant experience which is deeply satisfying from many perspectives- ambience, culinary, service & refreshments. The menu & food offerings are varied & brilliant.
