My wife and I have dined in every restaurant in Greystones since moving down a few years ago, and while we've yet to have a bad meal we had not had such an extraordinary experience as last night's meal in Caladh. If you're looking for a cheap meal, this is not the place. If you're looking for the best quality produce, the best service, the perfect combination of ambience and coziness, then Caladh is your bet. We started with the sausage ragu, and the mozzarella tomato salad and couldn't decide which was better. The flavours of the salad all combined so effortlessly, but the homemade pasta and ragu made you feel at home. We then moved on to the sharing steak, medium rare as is my preference, I had enquired about the roast potatoes as I had been advised they were astounding but was told by the restaurant manager that the accompanying dauphinoise complimented the dressed leaves and steak more appropriately, and they were absolutely right. The steak itself was cooked to absolute perfection with slight seasoning and a red wine jus, just enough to satisfy without overwhelming the steak. The dressed leaves were so delicate and flavourful they leave you craving more. We then had both deserts that were left, the pumpkin bavarois, and sticky toffee pudding. I have a particular sweet tooth but wanted to try the pumpkin and I am incredibly thankful of my gut decision because it was possibly the best dessert I've had since a rum baba in Patrick Guilbauds - I have not stopped talking about it since. To top everything off the staff were just so friendly, knowledgeable, and welcoming, and their bar staff surely know their way around an espresso martini. We were already booking back in while sitting waiting on our main so if you're pondering where to go for a special occasion then stop thinking and book Caladh.

Impressive that you can leave your coat at reception, the continental way ;-) No need to put up with your wet coat at the table…

Roundwood
About the restaurant
Opened under new ownership in December 2023, we are located adjacent to our existing Roundwood Stores bakery and artisan food store. Come and enjoy good food, wine, craft beer, and log fires in the beautifully restored 1820’s Coach House.
The pub is open midday until late, Thursday to Sunday, for walk-ins and reservations.
The menu is slightly more casual (as are some of the tables) but the room is cozy and the experience the same.
The restaurant is open midday for lunch and 5pm for dinner, walk-ins or reservations available.

We look forward to welcoming you.

About the restaurant
Classic Irish cuisine from chef Sean Smith in the Kildare countryside.

Sean’s mouth-watering new menu is as always sourced locally with some ingredients even grown on the very grounds of the Cliff at Lyons Estate. Food lovers will enjoy classics such as Roast Rib of Beef, Cherry Valley Duck Breast and Oven Baked Baby Turbot with sides of seasonal vegetables, mini Seafood platters and of course for something a bit sweet, Whiskey & Orange Ice Cream or Chocolate Fondant with Salted Caramel Ice Cream.

The Mill restaurant is the heart of Cliff at Lyons, with huge double-height ceilings, warm open fire and windows that open up to a terrace beside the mill race and waterfall. Here, you will find a relaxed style of dining where it is easy to enjoy a lunch or dinner with friends or family. The illuminated waterfall provides a unique back drop to this airy and spacious room.
