This is the PERFECT date night dinner. The space is intimate and lovely. The service is knowledgeable and thorough, and the food is well curated and quality. I had the french wine that Renee recommended and my partner had a Manhattan. Both were delicious. We each had our own pizza and shared an app, so we'd have enough for lunch the next day. I've had a wonderful experience every single time I've been there. Renee's is always a win.

Prepare yourself to eat a LOT! And that's great...had we known, the 4 of us could have shared the platter listed as for 2. Service was good and the sangria was lovely. Birthday baklava was a nice touch.

East Tucson
About the restaurant
Zio Peppe is where tradition meets innovation, serious collides with playful, and gourmet converges with casual. Zio Peppe means “Uncle Joe’ in Italian, and just like a beloved “funcle” – a fun uncle, Zio Peppe will make sure all are welcome, and everybody is having a good time.

Zio Peppe is a collaboration between Chef Devon Sanner and Chef Mat Cable. Our menu is anchored in Italian-American classics of pizza and pasta, but draws heavy influence from the foods and flavor profiles of Tucson and the Sonoran region.

Sanner joins forces with Cable after having cooked under Tucson culinary legend Janos Wilder for the past 15 years, serving as chef at Janos, JBAR, Downtown + Cocktails, and The Carriage House.

Zio Peppe, which means “Uncle Joe” in Italian, is in part a tribute to Cable’s uncle, Joe Sottosanti, who opened Tucson’s first Sicilian pizza place, Tesseo’s Pizzeria, nearly 50 years ago.

About the restaurant
Bata is a restaurant designed to celebrate the best our region has to offer. We cook over a live oak fire, on our custom fabricated hearth. Our menu changes daily. We mill AZ grown grain in house, daily. We focus on whole animal butchery, done in house. We have an extensive fermentation program. Our bar program largely focuses on wines that are organic, biodynamic, and produced with minimal intervention. The cocktail list highlights the best products of the season, with a carefully curated list of spirits from across the globe. We believe that our hospitality is just as important as the food and beverages we put on the table.

We do not encourage our restaurant for young children. We do not have any highchairs in house and ask that you please bring your own if it is required.

We do not offer any outdoor seating. Private dining, kitchen counter and large party seating available. Email hello@batatucson.com for inquiries.

Very creative event. Not a dining format one normally gets in Tucson with a meal inspired by Andrew Weil. Would have liked wine pours that were a little more generous.

Outstanding in every area, but noise level was entirely too loud. Hard to converse across a small table. Otherwise, everything was excellent.

This is a big favorite of ours. One thing we both wish Cayton’s would do is to add two menu items 1. A deluxe chicken sandwich like it used to have 2. Tater Tots. Those were the best we have ever had

Food was amazing as always, as was our service. I love the food options at OBON! I was disappointed by the bar though, in terms of selections and I felt whoever manages that area was not performing as well as they could have. It was BOTH Mother's Day and UA graduation weekend; and they were out of Woodford Reserve, Jameson and only had 3 white wines to choose from (2 of which were sweet wines). A Chardonnay should be available on every menu, and not a Reisling or Chenin Blanc. The bar should be fully stocked going into a weekend such as this.
