Sit back and relax as our team proudly present a celebration of seasonal ingredients and flavours in our recently renovated premises. From starters to desserts, every dish has been carefully crafted to showcase excellent local produce.

We’re a family-friendly restaurant with children’s menus available.

Since opening in 2020, we’ve become a favourite to locals and visitors alike - recently claiming a place in OpenTable's UK Top 100 Restaurants for 2023 and winning Best Restaurant in the 2023 Radio Forth Awards.

Our restaurant is open for breakfast seven days a week, and open Thursday to Sunday for lunch and dinner (last seating at 5pm on Sunday). Booking is essential.

"The Canny Man's in Morningside is an Edinburgh institution established in 1871 and passed down through 5 generations of the Kerr family. As famous chef Rick Stein said 'The Canny Man's is the best pub in the world.'
The establishment is well known far and wide for it’s quirky nature and ‘never’ changing décor. The interior sees every nook and cranny filled with everything from moose heads to muskets, sheet music to stuffed animals. A genuinely one of a kind bar and restaurant. The restaurant specialises in the best Scottish produce with a strong focus on local suppliers. Alongside this they have a well stocked gantry of over a 200 malt whiskies and a large wine list. The Canny Man's is very much a unique experience in Edinburgh and not to be missed."

Cardinal is a relaxed fine dining restaurant from chef Tomás Gormley. Located in Edinburghs historic New Town Cardinal offers a modern approach to Scottish cooking.

With a wide range of local and sustainable suppliers at our doorstep, from our Lobsters and Crabs at Belhaven Lobsters in Dunbar to our vegetables and Native breed meats at Free Company Farm in Balerno we’re lucky to be taking advantage of Scotlands unique and unrivalled natural larder.

Cooking over coals helps add an extra layer of flavour to whatever we’re cooking on them, it’s more intuitive and engaging as cooks and we feel like that comes through on the plate.

Tasting menus are our bread and butter but we also offer a pre fixe three course.

We had the tasting menu and all courses were delicious. The ingredients were impressive and, from what I can remember, entirely locally sourced. Every dish was presented beautifully and the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. Standouts for us were: Oyster with Guinness and caper berries, the monk fish, lamb and lemon mousse pudding. The amount of skill that must go into crafting those dishes! Felt like good value for money.

Skua is a small basement restaurant and bar located on St Stephen street in Stockbridge. The food menu, led by Head Chef James Aikman, is seasonal, refined, well balanced and innovative. Drawing from a large library of pickled and fermented produce year round the kitchen team offers dishes that punch well above their weight and are produced in an exceptionally small space, visible to guests as they enter the restaurant. The cocktail programme, spearheaded by Jacob Thunder is equally innovative and playful with a regularly rotating selection of house favourites as well as the classics available on request. Skua has been listed in the Michelin Guide and The Good Food Guide since its opening year in 2023.

Truly excellent experience. Food was fantastic - we ordered a second round of one starter as it was so good. Service was impeccable, and we were given an excellent recommendation for a pre-dinner cocktail across the road. The prices seemed very reasonable for the high quality of the food, but do bear in mind that we come from the south of England. The standout course for us was the pudding (which is SO rare) - we had a pistachio and honeycomb dish, topped with white chocolate and camomile cream that was out of this world good.

A great meal, as usual, at Monteiths. Made use of a voucher for 2. Menu was great. Starters of scallops and smoked haddock were excellent. Venison loin was incredibly tasty and finished with orange sponge with sauce and ice cream. Delicious. All washed down with a glass of red. Service was great although we did have to ask for the music to be turned down a little (not really a gripe though) A very good menu and a great place to eat.
