Gastro Pub
Huntingdon
About the restaurant
Set in the picturesque village of Abbots Ripton with access to beautiful walks on the local estate, The Elm has everything you want from your perfect countryside pub; A glorious garden, a roaring fire, comfortable rooms, delicious food and a wide selection of drinks.

The Grade II-listed building was built, as an open hall, in the late 15th Century to offer hospitality to the drovers bringing cattle down from Scotland (along the Bullock Road) to the market at St.Ives. It was later altered with the insertion of a brick chimney in the early 17th century. The Fellowes family, that own and run the pub, came to the area around the same time the pub got its chimney...

Arrived for an early pre-event dinner and took advantage of the free glass of bubbles offer. Service throughout was outstanding. The food was very good but some portions on the small side hence the lower rating for “value”.

A well known, unpretentious Village Pub/Restaurant with tables inside and in its spacious garden. Very clean, with good food and bar with good Guinness. Other customers seem to be happy and friendly and keen to welcome dogs! The young young staff are energetic, welcoming, friendly and cheerful and the manager very hands-on and full of enthusiasm too. It is not The Ritz and does not try to be but the manager and his team make the place very happy, whilst providing good food and drink, without breaking the bank. I will go there again.

Pub
Keyston
About the restaurant
A charming village pub nestled in the heart of Spaldwick village on the unspoiled greenbelt of Cambridgeshire. This traditional, local pub offers a fresh, seasonal menu coupled with local craft beverages, all of which can be enjoyed in our rustic, country setting. Our alfresco courtyard is the perfect oasis for any passing visitor or returning local. Take in the views of the rolling hills under our pergola or sit street side as you watch the world pass by, both are perfect with a drink in hand.

We sat in the garden at the back of the pub on a sunny Sunday lunchtime, four adults and a dog. Staff were very welcoming to humans and the dog (bowl of water for the latter) which was a good start. Menus were brought out to us quickly and we had enough time to choose without feeling rushed, or waiting too long. The choice for us was a bit limited, could really have done with some sandwiches, or ploughmans, or the like, but we went for the sharing platter for 4 which was deliciouus, plus some chicken strips, pork belly bites and some chips. The chicken strips felt extremely overpriced, well cooked, but £8 for a few pieces is a bit OTT. Rather the same story with the pork bites too - nice but over-priced. We had quite a long wait for the food, but we were quite early when we arrived, and it was a lovely day to be sitting under a tree. Quality and presentation when the food arrived was excellent, and just about the right quantity for 4 of us. Overall, it was a good experience and we will certainly return.
