At night for chic carnivorous gatherings, Windsor Grill on St Leonard's Road is a swanky little restaurant owned and run by Chef David Wilby. With its elegant interior and unpretentious British grill menu, this discreet restaurant is loved by locals and visitors from out of town alike, and the dining room is decorated with slate-coloured walls, gilt-framed paintings and leather seating giving it an atmosphere of dark glamour. Windsor Grill's menu is prepared with fresh ingredients, sourcing their aged beef from Surrey Farms, Iberico pork from Spain and Wagyu beef from Australia.

Here, at Sonning in Berkshire, our hotel and restaurant sits by The Thames, at the point where the river is at its most beautiful.
Walk into the cosy bar and you’ll be greeted by a French Horn tradition, the sight of ducks roasting in front of an open fire. Everything is as it should be in this family-owned English institution, run by the Emmanuel family since 1972. Life is good here.
Our Head Chef Josiane Diaga and team select the best seasonal ingredients and treat them with respect. Honest, classical dishes are complemented by a carefully curated wine cellar which, for example, features wines from every Burgundy village. Service is impeccable and the dining room one of the prettiest on the Thames.

Originally an old butcher's shop, we created one of the first wine bars outside London in 1975 - The Eton Wine Bar. After 25 years of success, we changed the name in 2000 to Gilbey's, having recognised that our food had outgrown the original wine bar concept. A beautiful dinner which was probably one of the best meals we’ve ever had. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted incredible. We asked for some amaretto sours and these were the best cocktails we’ve ever tasted too! A very cosy and special evening made possible by the staff at this wonderful place. We just felt so relaxed as soon as we walked in. Thank you, we’ll definitely be back!
