Restaurant Wjelbik (meaning "pantry") is located in a 600-year old building in Bautzen. It's owned by the Mahling family, with their daughter Monika in charge of the restaurant and her husband Thomas Lukas operating as head chef. On the Wjelbik menu you'll find traditional Saxon and Lusatian dishes, such as Sorbian Wedding Soup, Lausitzer trout fillet and Caramelized rhubarb compote. Try a locally brewed beer or a fine wine to make your meal even sweeter. If you're staying in town for the night, you can rest in the Hotel Dom-Eck, a Sorbian hotel near the Wjelbik.

The food was very tasty, looked very nicely and professionally served. We have also tried complete deserts menu and shared the experience together. Everybody of us could find the desert which was the best choice for him self. The atmosphere in restaurant was pleasant. The decoration and seating arrangement were nice.

Restaurant Spizz entrées include stuffed breast of guinea fowl, schnitzel and grilled beef with pear, green beans with bacon, BBQ potatoes and green pepper. This is an outstanding restaurant. Understated ambience with ckassical and inventive cuisine . Good choices for vegetarians and pescatarians and large wine list with many excellent options especially in german wines. What’s not to like? Well, perhaps one fish dish was fractionally overcooked but otherwise faultless. We would return time and time again if only we were in Leipzig more often!
