This was our third time at the restaurant and with the new owner/chef at the helm. We Absolutely loved the whole experience. the staff made sure my dietary needs were not only covered but absolutely delicious. The service was attentive and brilliant. It was so relaxing we didn’t even realise we spent over 3 hours enjoying fine food and wine, ambience and conversation. LOVED it. A Neighbourhood gem.

About the restaurant
Experience True Italian Soul Food at Geppetto Trattoria
Tucked just outside Melbourne’s CBD, right near the MCG, AAMI Park, and Rod Laver Arena, Geppetto Trattoria has been serving up hearty, home-style Italian since 1981. Run by father-son duo Nino and Adriano Cea, we keep things classic – think rich Osso Buco, silky Spaghetti Pescatora, and daily market-fresh seafood.

Whether you’re after a cosy dinner, a quick lunch, or a long catch-up over vino, our handmade pastas, risottos, and seasonal dishes hit the spot. Vegan? Gluten-free? We’ve got you covered – including a dedicated vegan menu.

We’re all about good food and good company. Book a table for two or bring the whole famiglia – and if you're planning a bigger event, ask us about our private dining and function options.

About the restaurant
Caffé e Cucina opened on August 16th 1988, with the aim of recreating the great restaurants in the most famous cities all over Italy. Since then, it has consistently achieved high acclaim in its contribution to the definition of "cafe culture" in Australia, originally introducing the concept of Italian hospitality in Melbourne.
Small tables, dim lights and high-end service are only some of our secret. "Produzione Artigianale” means strong attention to detail and passion for our culture.
A wide selection of wines, freshly baked bread on arrival and top quality extra virgin olive oil will never be missing.
The warm welcoming atmosphere, the thick accents and the genuine flavours are perfectly blended, casting a spell that transports you straight to Italy.

We have always been driven by the clear and ambitious intention to provide great traditional food, attentive yet friendly service and all around consistency.

If you want a great vibe from beginning to end - go to Neighbourhood Pizza. The energy is electric and the staff are young and vibrant. We had 2 pizzas and a rocket salad to share (3) and a glass of wine each - we were not disappointed. Arrived at 6.30 and knew had to leave table at 8 but was perfect for 3 work colleagues catching up. Would go again … and again.

Our first visit to Trattoria Emilia was to celebrate our anniversary and we loved everything about our experience. The ambience, service, food and drink were all wonderful so we anticipate many more visits in the future. Emilia transported us back to our most treasured holiday in Italy just after we were married 20 years ago.
