The Press Gang, located in the heart of downtown Halifax, occupies one of the city’s oldest historic stone structures which dates back to 1759. Boasting a formal dining experience like no other in the city, The Press Gang features an extensive menu with a rich array of exquisite seafood, meat and poultry dishes to satisfy every palate.
Visit our famous Oyster Bar for a selection of Maritime oysters, succulent appetizers and an extensive list of wines and martinis. Enjoy one of Nova Scotia's largest scotch selections, featuring over 100 single malts and listen to our live music on Friday and Saturday night starting from 8pm until 11:30pm. The Press Gang bar is open until 2 am on Fridays and Saturdays.

The Henry Room
Our 18th century private dining room comfortably accommodates 12 guests. In addition, we offer one semi-private space, suitable for up to 24 guests.

We were taking friends out to dinner last night as a Thank You and wanted something more than just food... we wanted a lovely evening filled with great conversation, wonderful food, lots of laughs and some live entertainment. Well, SJG hit it out of the park last night!! We were able to get the best seats in the house, had some yummy drinks to start, followed by 4 scrumptious meals. And then the fun started!! Chris Colepaugh was outstanding!! He was so personable and welcoming and we truly appreciated his inclusion, which made for a memorable night for all of us. Chris's ability to play such a wide genre of music kept us all on our toes for suggestions. He encouraged us to sing along and we felt like friends by the end of the night. His talent, while it's definitely his amazing voice and extraordinary guitar playing ability, it's also his ability to make you feel like he's playing just for you, and that's he's having as much fun as you are!! Thank you SJG and Chris Colepaugh for an absolutely fantastic night!! We will be back, soon!! Cathy and Gaston with Peggy and Rick

We get our name from John Gahan, a prominent merchant and importer of wines, teas, and groceries on Prince Edward Island in the 19th century. His former place of residence is now the location of the original Gahan House in Charlottetown, P.E. Entertainment and food was great! Andrew always makes my margarita and it’s always excellent. He made my first two last night and as always they were great! The new girl Anna made one after last night and it wasn’t right! She didn’t shake it just pour everything in the glass and gave it to me and it didn’t taste right!

This new restaurant is beautiful. We are so blessed to have one in Dartmouth. The staff were friendly and helpful and the food was out of this world! I got the garlic roasted Caesar salad and then the ravioli and my husband got chicken wings and then the green curry. At the end, we shared a loaded cookie! We will definitely be returning here as we are very impressed with everything!

We had an amazing dinner here! It was by far our favorite of the trip. Make sure to get the Beef Short Rib because it truly is spectacular. It’s their signature dish for a reason. The Atlantic Halibut is amazing! 10/10 all around. Make your reservation now! Catherine was our server and she truly is a gem!

The service was phenomenal, it was a normal amount of time to wait for a meal and appetizers. The music was awesome, there was something It was so upbeat that we caught ourselves dancing at the table. It was really good honestly. Pricewise it’s a little expensive but I don’t mind paying for something that’s worth paying for. Keep up the customer service because that is a big one for us and we will continue to come!
