S Prime Ratings and Reviews
I took my girlfriend here for Valentine's Day. Our waiter was very friendly, and had great knowledge of the menu. I ordered the Hanger Steak w/sauteed spinach which was amazing. My girlfriend ordered the crab cakes for a starter, and salmon as an entree w/shrimp mac & cheese. We both loved our meal. I asked our waited to pass on our compliments to chef for an amazing job, and within 3 mins, he came out to our table to greet us and shake our hands to say thank you for enjoying the meal that he prepared for us. I will be returning for another dinner service. They also offer complimentary valet service for parking right at the front door, the service was very great and friendly as well.
Service was impeccable. Food.... Urrrrr. Well we had the Cajun rib eye and although the seasoning was great it had to be the fattiest and worst cut we've ever had for a bone in rib eye. 50% of it was fat. That was disappointing. Other then that, everything else was ok.
Love this restaurant. The chef is very friendly and will come out to the bar to talk to the customers. Steaks are great, salads are fresh and the appetizers are creative. We love to eat at the bar. The bartender is VERY knowledgeable and uses only fresh herbs and fruits and comes us with fresh and innovative drinks. He will also accommodate a special request. Their wine list is extensive and we always find a favorite.
We been here several times before and we enjoyed the food and atmosphere. This time we decided to go for a New Year's Eve dinner. They had a pre-fixed menu which was small and very limited. It consisted of a salad, a small portion of steak with a side and a small dessert for $80 a person plus drinks. I had a small salad to start and then the filet which was about 6 ounces on a spoon full of mashed potatoes and a slice of cheesecake, my date had a small salad as well sirloin steak with French fries and a slice of coconut cake.
Overall I felt the pre-selected meal wasn't worth anywhere near that amount of money compared to the portions I have received from their regular menu the previous times I have dined here. They also tacked on the gratuity into the check even though we were only a party of two. I left here hungry ,disappointed, and above all I felt ripped off. This will likely be my last time coming here since I can find a much better value even in Manhattan.
First time and an amazing restaurant. The food is superb and the service the finest I have ever experienced! The noise level was a little on the high side but that was the result of diners truly enjoying and being enthusiastic about the experience! If you are in Astoria and or visit the area, make a reservation! Two blocks from the Kaufman Astoria UA Theater.
I ate at S Prime last night for my mom's birthday. It it very chic and big inside (you would never guess it from walking by). There was a leak from the ceiling that was hitting the booth we were in and management was very quick and apologetic about moving us to another table. We started with the house made mozzarella and market salad. I wasn't too crazy about the salad dressing but the mozzarella was amazing. 4 of us shared the 42oz porterhouse with creamed spinach, onion rings, mac and cheese and garlic mashed potatoes. It blew away all of our expectations. For dessert we had the chocolate bourbon pecan pie and sorbet. Both delicious. The service was wonderful and I will definitely be back.
Great food. Great service. Great atmosphere. Not one food item was disappointing. The also gave a complimentary taste of cauliflower soup and pretzel bread. (Not sure if that was special for the night or not). They even had valet parking in an area that needs it and doesn't typically have it. I would give 110% if I could.
I've been to many restaurants this year and steak is my favorite pleasure. S Prime is one of the best restaurants I've been to. I took my girlfriend for a romantic night out and couldn't have found a better spot. Parking is tough in that area but the valet took our car and was polite and attentive. All our servers were informative and pleasant. We were given two shot glasses full of butternut squash soup as a "free sample" appetizer and it was DELICIOUS. Then they gave us salted pretzel rolls with mustard and garlic butter and those were also amazing! Crab cakes were full of real crab meat and minimal bread crumbs and the tuna tartare was spot on! I ordered the filet which was cooked perfectly to my medium preference. My girlfriend got the veal entree which she also loved. We finished with ice cream and apple pie which was a perfect way to end. There is nothing I could've changed about the experience to have made it any better. I will be going back for my next special occasion and have already told several friends and family members about it. Keep up the great work!
This is still one of my favorite local restaurants and I am there weekly. My only comment is that that when they ask for special requests and they can not honor them they should at least acknowledge the request. I have asked for a booth table in my request almost every time I eat there and never did I get it or was it acknowledged. Its the little things....
As my headline states we enjoy the porterhouse steak served here and rate it the best in NYC!The overall ambiance along with the great service make this a steady winner for us,we visit about once per month. The happy hours! is the best around and goes on for 3 hours along with very good food choices.
Not only was the service attentive, the staff was unfailing gracious. I made a mistake on my order and they move to swiftly rectify the situation to my satisfaction without assigning blame. My water glass was never below half and I never noticed anyone filling it. My steak was succulent and my mashed potatoes creamy and flavorful. Everything we had was fantastic.
Reserved for a dining party for 13 that evening. Upon arrival we were seated immediately and greeted by our server and the manager respectfully. Drinks orders promptly taken and delivered icey cold. I ordered appetizers for the table and some sides. I can tell you the onion rings with S Prime's own homemade ketchup are to die for. The sampling of entrees of all my party included the aged beef cheeseburger and Center cut filet. RAVES all around the table for both selections. I would suggest ordering sides family style as they are quite large. We highly recommend and cannot wait for your next trip to New York to visit this establishment.
Courteous greeting by General Manager, Ike Gizas, with prompt seating via our Open Table Reservation.
Excellent and friendly wait service by Anya, attentive, pleasant, pretty and well dressed.
Great before dinner drinks and excellent wine: Stags Leap "Hand Over Hand" Cab & Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc.
Superb dinner: Lobster cocktail, Foie Gras (Yum!), Rib Eye perfectly cooked with delicious cold water lobster tail for sharing along with sauteed mushrooms, creamed spinach, garlic mash and lobster mac.
A sumptuous feast at a very reasonable price, especially given the New York City location.
(And they accept credit cards in contrast to their competition, the highly unaccommodating "cash only" PL Steakhouses of New York)
Porterhouse for two cooked to perfection. New York Strip no two bites were the same and for $50 what you think. Sides were good but small by comparison to other high end steak houses.
My biggest beef was with the manager who did not check in on us once knowing it was our first visit. I would understand if the place was busy but on the Friday of Memorial weekend he could have sat down and our table for three which had room for six .
For this reason I would not return.
Arrived at restaurant promptly at scheduled reservation time 7pm. My son & I were seated right away.
Our waitress was very attentive and courteous. The meal was excellent. We had a 42 porterhouse steak and 2 1/2 pound lobster. The steak was cooked perfectly and lobster was nice and moist. Service was excellent. Food was superb. I would definitely recommend S Prime Steakhouse. Also as we went to our car the hostess came running out to give me my phone which was left on the table.
We had a "coupon" to S Prime and were not disappointed. Food was very good and nicely presented. Waitress was excellent. Place is nice very standard steakhouse appearance. Nice bar good mixed drinks. We arrived early (6 p.m.) and were able to find street parking but they do have valet. Treated us well and we responded in kind. Will go back.
brought my family here for a celebration but if you have kids, it's not kid friendly. they don't have a foods that they can prepare for the kids. I've been to the most expensive steakhouses in the city and they can always make a platter a chicken tenders or something for kids. overall it was a good experience still but the service was SO slow.
my family and I dine several times a month at SPrime. While the majority of the staff are wonderful the Manager who works the restaurant picks and chooses who he sayes hello and greets. I think he should be more consistent with his hospitality especially to the LGBT community. Unlike the bartenders who welcme my family each time we walk in. The food hear is amazing so I will keep returning.
