We were so excited for our weekend in Louisville and this restaurant did not represent great southern hospitality. The food was mediocre, our server seemed like he had no experience. He could not open wine or answer questions about the menu. At almost $100 per person we would expect better. Also the air conditioning was blasting the entire time, and although we asked nicely to turn it down, we were told it could not be turned off. We had an awesome dinner at 610 Magnolia the following night. In retrospect we should have tried Decca or Proof on Main.

Food was very good but menu is very limited and a lot of items were quite pricey. The rolls were probably the most delicious things we ate!
We had a great meal here. We were running late due to unforeseen traffic but texted the restaurant and they saved a spot for us. Our cocktails and cheese board were great. We shared a steak that was too rare for our taste and that was very cold in comparison to the fries it came with. We also ordered rolls to come with our meal, but they came before our entree and they were cold by the time our entree arrived. Our server was very knowledgeable but somewhat slow. Overall we liked how quiet it was and would definitely eat here again on another occasion.
Great food and service! It was a little loud when we arrived but they were very busy for a Tuesday evening.
Really enjoyed the dining experience at Rye! It's our new favorite restaurant in town.
The food was only surpassed by the service! Our waiter was attentive and had great suggestions. The bar program is incredible and the food very innovative.
The wait for food took a while and the quality compared to price point seemed uneven. The best part of the night was the cocktails which were fabulous!

Cheese and charcuterie boards were good, but how hard is it to place prepared meat, cheese and picked items on a board. Beet salad was terribly short of blue cheese, bacon and endive, with beets chopped in big chunks versus thin sliced tasty bits.
Mains were generally disappointing with a minimum 36ounce ribeye steak (ridiculous) available which was so fatty and too chewy to be anything but an average choice grade. Scallops were resting on terribly paired black lentils, a poor Thai sauce and masses of cilantro. (Why?) Triple fried fries were okay as was the fettuccine.
Service from the waiter was fine but a 45 minute wait between finishing our starters and the entrees is simply asinine when the restaurant wasn’t busy and we had an early 6PM reservation.
Far too pretentious a place that acts and thinks it is much better than it is considering such a limited menu, which means they should be great with every menu item.
The topper was the already added in 20% tip, never mentioned by the wait person and only found once I turned on my phone flashlight to look at the bill. ((I normally tip more than 20% but when it’s added in for a party of 6 without a mention, well you get it.
I won’t return but if you go, this is just a drinks and starters place at best my friends.
For starters, come for a whiskey bourbon cocktail to start the night off right. They will not disappoint whether you like old fashions, manhattans, or something neat. Then stay for bite. Charcuterie plate was delicious followed by a nice steak with blue cheese.
There were not a lot of options on the menu, but I splurged and got the strip which was expensive and overpriced. It was definitely not worth it, and I was angry at myself for ordering it. I could have gotten a better steak anywhere else in Louisville for half the price. My date’s meal was a very soggy vegetarian dish that she could not finish. There are much better restaurants and options on the same street as Rye.
Great meal for all types of eaters fish, meat and vegetarians
The menu was so limited! Under ten food items to choose from and no specials. Really small portions. The bill for the four of us including one person having one cocktail was $185 dollars including tip. The presentation was really nice. Food was just barely fair. We all left hungry! Very disappointing!!!
We went for a birthday dinner and ordered the duck. Very tender and tasty. We weren't disappointed!
I only left 5 stars because there isn't an option to leave 6. The mushroom toast is a contender for the single best dish I've ever had. Jonathan gave us service that was top notch! Cannot wait to return!
The food was excellent. And the staff was courteous and efficient. The noise level was low except when a large group was seated beside our table. Then it went up a bit but was still not bad. Overall it was an excellent experience.
I had booked our reservation on Open Table. When I got there they did not have the reservation....but they found a table for us. It was MY fault I had entered the wrong Saturday date. But the host and the manager was so nice to us and got us a great table. We appreciated the kindness. The food was awesome and the restaurant is really nice. It was a great dining experience! Thank you again!
Very loud and service was not great. We were seated at a corner table and I think our server totally forgot about us after we ordered cocktails. It was a memorable experience. So memorable we probably won't be back.
The reviews for Rye are not at all representative of our experience. The drinks and food were just so-so. The portions were skimpy and the service was less than attentive even though they were not that busy. There are so many better options inLouisville that I can’t imagine ever going back to Rye.
In town for a race, wanted to try Rye because of the menu I had seen. Not disappointed. My wife had two small plates, I had the duck which was a very low-carb entree, served with grilled cabbage.
The food was excellent. I had vegetarian cauliflower dish as entree; it was filling and delicious. My husband had duck entree and pronounced it very good. Only negative is he went for steak and read the steak was excellent but the only steak option is one to share of 30 ounces or more

If you want to experience top-tier service with an outstanding bar menu and simply amazing food, then you NEED to go to Rye. We have been there a few times and we have always had amazing meals and service. If we are close to Appleton, we will always make time to stop in.
We made reservations well in advance for dinner for 5 at 7:45. We were celebrating a special occasion and planned to stay in the area for entertainment after dinner. After ordering our drinks we were notified they were out of 5 main courses out of about 8. We finished our cocktails and cheese plate and left.

I would have given even higher ratings given the evening we had, but there were lots of sad bumps along the way. We dined at Rye on a Wednesday evening from out of town, and apparently it was a busier than normal Wednesday for them. Our reservation was for 7:30 pm and we immediately wanted all of their 3 options of oysters. Our excellent waitress (who had to give us and others several disappointing announcements over the course of the evening) let us know that they were already out of 2 options, so we doubled up on the 1 option.
I did notice that lots of wait staff were returning to tables not long after taking the main order, which clued me in that they were running out of entrees. My husband and I had made the reservation because their scallop entree sounded amazing. We got the liver appetizer (which was delicious) and what was left of the oysters and ordered our entrees as soon as possible. We were told that the trout and beef were gone, but that the trout was replaced by mahi mahi and they still had scallops and the wild onion risotto left. (I LOVE risotto but onions not so much and they can be an allergen. Would have been nice to have a different vegetable in that option.) So we quickly put in for the scallops and sure enough just a few minutes later we found out that was out too. It wasn't fun sitting there watching tables around us get what we had wanted in the first place.
We both ended up getting the mahi mahi (which was cooked wonderfully and was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside) but of course wasn't our first selection. I would definitely love to visit Rye again (unlikely since we live so far away) but I sincerely hope that some changes are made as far as back up items in case an extra busy evening happens again, especially for local individuals and visiting business people.
Birthday dinner with my wife. Best dinner experience, best steak dish, best appetizer (pommes soufflées), and most personable low key waiter, I have had in years. Also really good pasta a fish. Good tasting size dishes for sharing and getting a lot of tastes.
The lamb shank ravioli and ruby red trout with champagne vinaigrette were outstanding! We also love the cocktails menu at Rye.
The place is really nice, relaxed environment. The food was good, but there aren’t many options. I had the fish and it was very good, but my husband had the ravioli and they were just ok. The fries are outstanding! Overall, good food in a relaxed, cool environment, but maybe too expensive for what you get.
Fabulous time! Stephanie was a fantastic waitress, attentive and very nice! even told us where we could go out to celebrate the rest of the evening as we were there celebrating my sisters birthday. The food menu has such unique items on there with exquisite flavor combinations that work together and you would not expect it! Definitely go and make reservations ahead of time.
Selected Rye for my wife’s birthday dinner location after a visit for an after dinner drink a month or so before. Great location, very homey feel, intimate atmosphere. It was LOUD to say the least but whatever, we were in public so who cares. We had an appetizer(cheese board) it was great! As we ordered our entree the waitress came back and told my wife that they had run out of her choice, I had taken the last of my choice and of the remaining 3 choices one was a 50 oz steak, so my wife basically had 2 choices for her entree. Our reservations were at 7:45 on Sat night...in my opinion this was not right. If it was 10pm I get it but the party of 8 that sat down as we were leaving better like the 3 choice menu. Maybe I’m expecting too much but my advice have a solid back up plan and call before you head to Rye just to check entree inventory levels.
The service, ambience and food were exceptional. The setting is chic and beautiful; the manager, waitstaff and chefs professional and friendly, the food is brilliant and delicious and I am from Boulder which is very food-oriented. Execution, menu creativity, presentation were artistic and delicious. The octopus, beets, drinks, cheese board, everything delectable and fresh.
Have been to Rye three times in the last 6 months. The food is outstanding, the service has been great, and until this last visit the ambience was fine. However, it was so noisy due to a birthday party at a near table that the four of us could not talk to each other. We skipped desert and decided to have it at home.

Had dinner before a show at the Ky Center. Limited food menu, but everything we ordered was fantastic. Waitress was excellent and very knowledgeable regarding bourbons.
