About Rye Grill and Bar
The Rye Grill and Bar reopened to large crowds in January 2009 after a major renovation that boasts four separate dining rooms, fireplaces and a front porch. Long-time patrons will be relieved to know that it's still the casual neighborhood spot they've always loved. The Grill offers the same friendly service and menu favorites that made it a crowd pleaser for fifteen years, from it's fried calamari, Cajun chicken quesadillas and 4-layer dip to its salads, pizzas, sandwiches, sliders and burgers. Popular entrees include the Rye Grill's signature farfalle with hot Italian sausage, pan roasted filet mignon, pot chicken and fish selections. Guests may have drinks and appetizers in its lively mahogany bar room on the first floor or enjoy a bit more quiet at the nautical themed bar upstairs. Dining room options accommodate all for, dinner and private parties. Valet parking is available at lunch during the week.

We have a private lot where we offer valet parking during lunch Monday thru Friday. Customers are welcome to park in the lot on there own at night and on weekends. The restaurant is in the Rye train station parking lot. So on weekends and after 7pm weeknights there are plenty of spots.
Metro North New Haven Line has a stop in Rye. The train will let you out across the parking lot to the restaurant.

Rye Grill and Bar Ratings and Reviews
The hostess sat us at our table and said the waitress Heidi will be with you shortly. Heidi came over promptly and took our drink order and proceeded to tell us the dinner specials. My friends and myself started with salads, then we ordered dinner. I had the Tuna with mango salsa that came with bok Choy and jasmine rice, my friends had the mahi mahi that came with sweet potatoe hash and the other friend had the steak sandwich which came with French fries. We all had 3 glasses of wine and we had apple crisps for dessert. We felt like we were a bit rushed, I guess because they were busy, but Heidi came and apologized for that. But overall it was very good.
We went here in a snow storm and there was still a good sized crowd; a great sign. Our party of four was seated in front of a fireplace, which was so cozy.
Cauliflower soup was delicious and we really enjoyed the Petit filet mignon sandwich with fries and frizzled onions.
Caesar salad could have used more flavor but overall, a great experience.
A restaurant that alters a menu item to meet the diners request is wonderful and that is what makes Rye Grill great. The service was exceptional and food served of quality and freshness.
Sitting upstairs is by far the quieter options and the environment makes for an adult experience. The restaurant is child friendly but they tend to sit downstairs. This was a very positive experience.
Great experience tonite. Though the restaurant was quite busy, the noise level seemed better than usual (always a busy active place, so generally not the right fit for a quiet meal), maybe this was a reflection of the location of our booth, which was close to the front, but opposite side from the bar. In any case, we don’t generally mind the active noise level, but this just seemed better. Anyway, our server was super pleasant and attentive and the food was great! I had the halibut special which was delicious (!) and my husband enjoyed the blackened swordfish. All prepared perfectly. I have to say, I’ve never been disappointed with a meal here. Really like this place!
Unfortunately, not our best experience at RG&B. Restaurant looked dirty and services was off (three different servers, bread came after appetizers, upstair’s bathroom needed cleaning, elevator was covered in finger prints and the rug was littered with food, bread stations looked messy). As I understand, the restaurant turns into a full-on bar the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. I think it was showing the wear and tear from a hard night of drinking. We’ve had many good experiences - this just wasn’t one of them.
The bar area was busy and noisy but we sat in nice quiet dining room. Had a waiter in training serving us and he was great. Food fresh and delicious. Had the shrimp dumplings and coconut shrimp app. Yum. Had a seafood salad..fresh and delicious. Dessert of pumpkin cheesecake really good too. Loved it all.
The dining room was so loud that the waiter apologized to us when we were seated. As soon as our food was served we asked for the check so we could leave as quickly as possible. We have been here before but the noise level was never this high. We will not be returning there for a Friday evening meal.
Rye Bar & Grill is a lovely restaurant located in Rye, New York. It is a few steps away from the Rye train station and very close to the town. We enjoyed a wonderful birthday dinner with friends. Our woman server was so nice and courteous. I enjoyed the Butternut Squash soup and salad with goat cheese and walnuts. Everyone else loved their steaks and burger etc. Fabulous eatery in Rye!
Been here many of times, we were a party of four and we were treated with respect the moment we arrived to being seated to being waited on, the appetizer round of popcorn shrimp along with potato skins, to the entree of grilled swordfish with asparagus with mash potatoes, farfaalle pasta with sausage, along with pepper crusted ahi tuna, the meal was delicious.
The waited was very attentive and knowledgeable, if in the area it’s a must try.
We have come here for years, way before the renovations. I am finding that it is pricier and not really better. I had a organic mixed greens salad with warm goat cheese, walnuts and I added grilled chicken. The price was $20. Seriously? No tomato or other fruit or veggie! I overheard our server describing a salad special to another table that was not told to us. My order was ready to come out so it was too late to change the order. I know there are many other choices in the area so I will seek another place to dine.
Love the swordfish sandwich, but high noise level and so so service.
I come here for the swordfish sandwich. It's delicious. If not overcooked. So I ask for the fish to be slightly undercooked, which the waiter struggled over, not knowing whether that was "medium rare" or not. It's pretty common for a restaurant to describe its own version of medium, rare, etc. with regard to meat. But fish seems to be a problem. I also asked for the french fries to be extra crispy. So the fish came overcooked and the fries came underdone. I don't know if it was the waiter not bothering to pass along my requests - he did seem like he was on automatic pilot - or the kitchen disregarding them. Either way, not good.
And like so many restaurants it's as if they try to make it noisier, with wood floors, high ceilings, etc. Do people really want to yell their conversation over dinner?
The noise level won't get fixed. But I'm hoping for a better outcome next time on how I'd like my food. I know this place gets busy. But if the waiter and/or the kitchen ignore customer requests, there's no point in going here anymore.
We had fried clam strips and popcorn shrimp for first course. Both were very good and not at all greasy. Second courses were good but not great; they were mussels and clams and the steak sandwich.
Wait staff was very nice and apologetic for a snafu. As a result manager comped drinks which was very welcome
We ate outside on porch which was lovely despite facing parking lot and trains. We chose outside because inside seemed very noisy when we arrived (on a busy Saturday night).
The good news? Food was on point! We had calamari, chopped salad and swordfish with a $50 bottle of Bennett's Reserve Cab. Delish! Service: less than impressive. Unfortunately. Pretty much did the minimum requirement of a server and nothing more. Tried killing with kindness, but still uninterested in smiling. ☹️ But the food was great 🙂
