Rye and Thyme Ratings and Reviews
Went with my daughter to celebrate her birthday. Food was OK - more pub fare than true fine dining. Waitress raved about the burger and ingredients which was part of a city-wide burger competition. The burger was OK - I'd give it a "B". French Fries were edible but nothing to rave about. Not a place I'd repeat for dinner but would come in for a beer to meet friends, etc.
Sisters Night Out. My sister and I went for dinner following a retirement party at the Library. It was a beautiful weather night so we opted to sit outside. The food and drinks were amazing as always. I recommend anyone that likes french fries to try the Parmesan Truffle Fries; they are my weakness!
Continue to just love this place! Especially in the summer, the patio is great (and who would expect that in downtown Leominster? It's wonderful!) Food and drinks are always top-notch, and the prices are mid-range, but reasonable for the quality and quantity served. Service is always good, and often great. R&T is my go-to for a fun night out guaranteed.
Reservations - ready and waiting for us.
Dress of clientele ranged from dirty sports teams to ties/dresses. Loud. Full bar, and maybe all this is normal for Daturday night - not sure.
Requested slight change to drink special - easily adapted and delivered promptly. Very good.
Ordered appetizer and waited. It came and server was not around much. Only came to take dinner order when clearing app dish. Slow on the water refills.
Salad then came (Caesar was very good). Each ordered an entree and added one side dish (to split). Food was not fast, but was good. Filet was not great (not a great cut, and overcooked). Tuna was excellent. They never brought out the side dish, but never allowed us to tell them. By the time someone came over the meals were basically done. Check was delivered promptly, but for that much money - it should have been better. For all that went on we could have spent half (or 2/3) as much at a half dozen places and had the same experience.
I was here for a group event and thought the food was very gpod. Maybe just was an off night. Caesar salad with very little dressing. My pasta dish with clams lacked flavor. My husbabd enjoyed his sirloin. Vent was blowing on us at first. I was cold with a sweater on. Waitress was very helpful and pleasant.
Been here now a few times for dinner as well as now for lunch and it just seems to really deliver! Great oyster selection (Highly recommend the ones from Virginia) smart wine list, and terrific sandwiches. Nice service as well. All around, it's worth the trip.
I was very disappointed with the "skillet breakfast" entree I ordered on Mothers' Day. I was surprised to discover a soaky piece of sourdough bread at the bottom of the small skillet. Resting on top of the soaky bread was a slab of mostly fatty bacon with blacked edges, luke warm corned beef hash to one side, and two over-easy eggs on top (I had ordered scrambled eggs). With basic ingredients as these I am perplexed that the breakfast didn't match my expectations.
If you've never been to Rye & Thyme you are certainly missing out on a gem! Their food is always fresh and prepared to perfection. The beer selection is probably the best in central Massachusetts with many different local & and regional selections. We reserved a table for Mothers Day brunch with the girls and they did not disappoint... we ate Great food and enjoyed great company, just wish I could afford to do it every weekend
6:30 pm Saturday night, busy, noisy as we expected. Reservations made 3 days prior.
5-10 minute wait for table. Seated in main dining room despite specific request for 'bar side, private table or booth'. We were quickly accommodated when we mentioned it. Waiter was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. Ordered one dozen oysters. They were generally too small and several of them shouldn't have been served. Ale battered fish and chips were ok. Chowder, lamb lollipops and salmon bar menu item were all very good. The main dining room was 'raucus'. The bar was not as loud but still too loud for us and we don't mind a little noise in a busy restaurant at a busy hour. I'm glad the restaurant is there. Better than average and not much competition in it's class locally.
Loved their fish and chips. Was a bit apprehensive as this was ale battered. But not too thick...light coating...quite tasty. Service was a little slow. We sat out in back room and our server was also waiting on large party behind us. Once food was brought we had to flag her down after several minutes of waiting for condiments to accompany the meal. That really shouldn't happen. Felt bad for her because she was running around.
Went out with my wife and a few friends and although the prices were a bit high the food was fantastic! We brought our kids and didnt feel out of place at all. Nm only gripe is it doesnt seem the wait staff communicates to each other. One person brought us our waters and a few minutes later our main waiter brought us our waters not realizing. This happened again with our main drinks.
Besides this, it is a great restaurant for any occassion!
We made our reservation but our table wasn't ready for 15 minutes. Our server was likely the best (bearded) one in the restaurant. Our food came out super fast. My sweet potato and corn chowder came out first with my daughter's chicken fingers ( great value). Soup tasted like cream of wheat, which was right up my alley I also had the Beef & Ale (cooked beer and mushroom flavors), friend had the Jambalaya again (not as spicy as last time), and my mom had the Wedge Salad (peppercorn dressing!) and Crap Cakes. Everyone was so pleased, ans everything was super flavorful, hot, and the portions were perfect. Draft beer system was down, but I found a bottle of beer I'd tried previously and they brought cute little glasses. Everything was so delicious that I couldn't get a second beer. This is my new favorite place to dine, for sure.
The raw bar was great and the drinks too. When the main courses came out the salmon oscar had the salmon on top of the rissoto with the hollandaise on top. I know some people like it this way but my wife does not, my steak was over cooked and they cut into it 3 times. All the entrays looked very blah. No color, bad presentation. Liked the oysters though and would go back for the dollar ones from 4 to 630.
Visited on a Saturday evening, made a reservation 30 minutes before arriving. We were seated immediately. The server was average, knew some about the menu but was unable to answer specific questions about certain food and beverage items, we waited quite a while for our beverages, food and bill but the restaurant was busy and the server also had a very large group whom we were sitting next to. They were quite loud but understandable for the number of people in the party. The food was delicious as usual. The hubby had the steak and fries with the aioli , I had the seared salmon with risotto. Both meals were delicious. The only disappointment was the app. We ordered the usually delicious pretzel with cheese sauce and stone ground mustard but one of the pretzels was way over cooked, almost crispy and the stone ground mustard was replaced by Frenches yellow mustard!!! Big disappointment there. Otherwise, ambiance and food was good, as well as, the beverages!! We will definitely be back for more, hopefully a different server next time.
Went there for my birthday and sat in the restaurant upstairs. We tried the jambalya and the seafood arrabbiata. Both had some heat and lots of flavor. Tried oysters for the first time. The presentation was quaint (in a good way.) Had the brownie for dessert. Great night out. Server was very helpful with beer recommendations. Draft, bottles, cans, and larger pints. Fun and creative appetizers and salads. We'll be back to try them out!
Sorry, I was really looking forward to going here, but the salmon I got was cold on the inside. It would have been good if it was hot. I didn't bother complaining, as I know the time it takes to send back a meal. The martinis were small, 3/4 full. Decided to order the wine for the second drink, and that was only filled half way. Also, when I ordered the wine, the bartender totally forgot to bring it, so I ended up ordering from a server standing at the end of the bar. It wasn't like it was busy. Most of the bar was empty. I was disappointed, as we had seen good reviews for the place. I recently moved to Sterling a year and a half ago, and would have loved to have had a good experience as my boyfriend and I go out to dinner frequently. He's a very generous guy, and if he's happy usually leaves a 25% tip but he only left $5. He got the steak and it was flavorless...he didn't even finish it. Unfortunately disappointed and won't be back.
I took my wife here as a part of a weekend excursion for dinner, and I could not have been more impressed. The service was spectacular, the oyster bar menu is fantastic, the wine list was outstanding, and the dinner menu is varietal and relevant to the upscale American tavern fare style of this restaurant. The beer and cocktails offered here are also reason alone to stop in if you aren't interested in a full dinner and would just like a couple drinks and some fresh oysters or an appetizer. I savored the dry-aged 16oz bone in ribeye with sautéed button mushrooms and some truffle Parmesan fries after receiving a dynamite angry Cesar salad to start. My wife enjoyed an 8oz filet mignon with a harvest vegetable hash and baked mac and cheese. Both dishes were spectacular and perfectly prepared. We paired a very nice bottle of red wine from the extensive list, and it complimented everything very nicely! For desert, we split the fluffernutter bread pudding, on which our waiter had the chef put candles after overhearing me wish my wife a happy birthday earlier, which was nothing short of remarkable in every way. Our experience was so great, that we came back for brunch the following morning. And of course there isn't a surprise here, it was absolutely fantastic! I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone wishing to have a spectacular night out!
Overall nice place. Quiet considering crowd inside. Service staff friendly and attentive. Unfortunately our swordfish was cooked to death but the rest was satisfactory. I don't recommend sitting at the bar where the salad bar is located. Not a good look. Sit there and you will get the idea. Still though worth a visit. Maybe two.
This was our first visit to the restaurant, and we will definitively go back! the food was excellent, as was the service and atmosphere. We enjoyed a few small plates to share, a couple of cocktails, and then steaks. Everything was exceptional! At the end of the meal, as our server was removing our dinner plates, my mostly untouched steak slid off the plate and onto me and the seat beside me. The server was so mortified, I felt bad for her. She apologized all over the place, and said that they would make another one for me to take home. I really didn't need that, but they insisted. The manger also came over to apologize, again, not necessary, I knew it was an accident and was not terribly concerned. A new complete meal arrived shortly afterwards, packed to go, and it was taken off our bill to boot. Before any of that happened, we were already planning a return visit, that level of service and attention, sealed the deal! Don't miss this unassuming gem!
