Ruvo West Ratings and Reviews
Ruvo’s is one of our favorite lunchtime restaurants. They have great $12 lunch specials. I typically get the short rib wrap which is excellent. My only complaint about the restaurant is that it typically gets crowded and can get somewhat noisy. With this said I would still highly recommend this restaurant.
We hadn’t been to Ruvo in over ten years because we weren’t pleased the last time we had gone and we’re giving Ruvo another chance. I’m glad we gave Ruvo another chance! Two of us had the prix fixe menu and had the 5 hour short ribs and they were amazing! The flat bread with the shrimp was very good too!
We went out to celebrate an anniversary. We were seated right away. All of our servers were very nice and attentive and every course was served promptly. The reason I gave it four stars for quality of food was that I absolutely loved my dish (as did my husband when I let him have some), but my husband was not happy with his dish and honestly his was kind of generic when I tried it. Although the atmosphere was very nice, I felt kind of crowded. I did get bumped into or jostled a couple of times by people walking past which was not fun. But overall it was a very nice place, I enjoyed myself, and I will definitely be back
I have enjoyed eating at Ruvo's West many times. Friends get together and want to go to Ruvo's. Family enjoys dining there as well. The food is great and the service is superior. We love the $12 menu for lunch, so may great choices. We love the eggplant rollatini and the sole. Dinners are terrific, as well. Crab cakes, Diver scallops, rocket salad, Branzino, 5 hour short ribs, yummy. We will be back!!!
Ruvo West consistently delivers quality food both for lunch and dinner. It is a popular place, thus making for a noisy (at times) environment. The wait staff is efficient and mostly friendly; what this means is that there are several employees who clearly don't have a friendly, welcoming attitude.
The $12 prix fixe lunches are generous in portion. But don't bother with the flatbreads. The pedestrian crust came off a supermarket shelf and had the consistency of shoe leather. The topping of spinach and artichoke redeemed this dish from being a total disaster.
Filet of sole and Tuscan melt were delicious. The sole was prepared oreganata style and served with fregola (the Italian version of toasted couscous) and veggies. The panini was a winner with the vegetarian set.
Reservations are a must both for lunch and dinner.
This my second time in 4 weeks coming up short in a place that I consistently liked. I still like the ambiance and the people in the dining room. But, what is going on in the kitchen I wonder to make things go down hill? Both times I've had Cesar salad the lettuce has been old. I throw out lettuce like that - no crispness. But I like the anchovies and cheese. My wife's shrimp and mussels were overcooked and dry, The seared tuna wasn't seared. It was more like cooked slowly. I hope this place finds the shortcoming in the kitchen and fixes it.
As a customer from the early days, we're disappointed that Rose is no longer serving on Fri nights. I received tea in a cappuccino cup! When I asked for Rose to be reinstated, the new manager argued with me. Guess the customers who helped build the business don't count...
Well, there are lots of other businesses that would be delighted to have our business...so, we'll go there except on Monday nights when Rose is serving.
This is our "go to" restaurant in the Greenlawn-Centerport area. The food is consistently good, and the service is top notch. Today our server was Andi, who is always excellent. Loved my lobster ravioli which was on the specials menu, and my partner said his stuffed chicken breast entrée was wonderful. Tim the manager provides for a welcoming atmosphere and smooth running of the dining room. Definitely check it out!
I've been to Ruvo West many times and the food has never disappointed me. This time the service was a little shaky. First time that ever happened. Probably a new employee. I'm giving them a pass this time as I enjoy the place so much. Hopefully it was a one time occurrence
We arrived on a Wednesday night around 6pm and the restaurant was not crowded. It was our first time going as a friend recommended and we leave nearby. We ordered a bottle of wine, appetizers and our main course. 30 minutes went buy and our waitress finally came back to our table asking us what happened because our appetizers were not brought out?? We were ready to get up and leave the table. She went to check and blamed the kitchen was overwhelmed but it was not busy at all. We believe our order was not submitted to kitchen. When the food finally came out it was good but the fact the staff was not attentive and the food was not delivered in a timely fashion left a bad taste in our mouth. We will not return.
Thoroughly enjoyed Ruvo West. I live in Kings Park so it was a short drive to quaint Greenlawn. We chose a very intimate outdoor table that was kindly offered to us. The drinks we very good and quite a varied selection as well. The food was very well prepared and executed. Very attentive service as well. A true find!!!
I had been to the Ruvo in PJ for the lunch special with a group of friends & though our choices differed, we all enjoyed our meals. So it was with confidence that I suggested Ruvo West as a place to meet my Elwood friend for lunch. Again, it was a great dining experience!
