Rutledge Cab Co. Ratings and Reviews
We celebrated family birthdays. The PuPu platter was awesome for an appetizer. However, our main meals showed up within minutes making it hard to enjoy the appetizer. 2 burgers and salmon were under cooked. We used to enjoy this location quite a bit are starting to rethink our choice after the last couple of visits.
The server was obviously in a rush to get off work. We had a 9:45 reservation as we got into town late. We arrived a few minutes before our reservation and the place was pretty empty. The server obviously was in a rush to get us in and out due to us being his only table. When our dinner arrived, we let him know we never received our appetizer. He said oops I will get it. My husband's veggies came out after asking for them. I never received my potato salad after asking for it again. We took our leftovers home. My appetizer of mac and cheese was placed in a plastic container, ON TOP of my leftover salad. Really? How do I know that container hadn't been on the floor or a dirty counter. While the server took off the mac and cheese, that's nice but servers need to realize, it isn't about getting an item for free, it is about getting my appetizer as an appetizer. By the time it came out, I no longer wanted it.
The restaurant was nice. Good selection of food. Liked that they had skewers of beef chicken or shrimp. Don’t order it. Six small shrimp, a few grilled veggies and a huge plate full of undercooked wild and white rice. Shame since local shrimp in Charleston are usually really good. The fish tacos were flavorful along with the side of fries. The side salad with Smokey blue cheese was delicious as was the Mac and cheese. Service was spotty but seemed to be a shared duty. The atmosphere was loud and noisy and could be a fun spot in the summer when the outdoor dining is open air.
We always enjoy stopping in and having lunch when visiting Our grand-daughter at The Citadel for Parents Day. The food is great and the serving sizes are filling. The wait staff is friendly and attentive to our needs. I would recommend making reservations, though the wait is not too excessive.
Great local restaurant with exciting food and drinks. Service is good and responsive if there are issues. Fried chicken is terrific and french onion soup is one of the best around. Try the chicken and dumplings for something truly unique and tasty. It gets pretty loud so don't try to have an intimate conversation but go for the food, service and people watching and you will enjoy.
We came here for a business meeting. They had happy hour specials and one of the special appetizers was the tuna poke. When I ordered this they told me they were out. It was kind of disappointing since I was excited to try this. I ended up ordering the flatbread which was good but not worth $11.
Overall ambience was great. The service started off good but quickly declined. After the waiter took our drink order he did not bring our drinks back for about 15 minutes and that was after we reminded him. About 10 minutes after he took our dinner order he came back and asked what my side item was supposed to be even after I told him during ordering. He then did not come back to our table or check on our drinks for over 35 minutes. We could see him frequenting the tables next to us often. He even ignored us when we tried to get his attention. Our food came and no condiments were offered and the person walked away quickly as soon as the food was put down. We tried to get the attention of the waiter again to no avail. He finally came over 10 minutes later and my husband asked for the manager. The manager came over and we expressed our concerns and frustrations. She was apologetic and took care of our remaining needs but it did not appear to us that she even spoke to her waiter long enough to address his bad service. We will not be returning back to this restaurant. We had our children with us and the waiter did not even check to see if they needed any additional drink or water on this extremely hot day.
