The food was good but pricey. It was New Years Eve but it seemed like every other evening. I was hoping for some sort of music or more festive decor or champagne toast ...but there was none.
Ruth’s Chris at the Hilton in Wilmington is always fantastic. Great bar, great dining experience, always consistent.
New Year's Eve, so there was a greater demand for tables. We got stuck downstairs in the ground level room which is just an empty conference room. It was very different from the usual dining experience in the main dining room, which would have been ok, I guess, except we had no notice of this until we arrived. Nobody likes dashed expectations. Also the bartender downstairs was incapable of making a real "old fashion". It tasted like a bourbon and water with an orange peel on the bottom. When I spoke up, they took it back and removed it from the bill though, so at least they heard me. The steaks were outstanding, and ordinarily this is a perfect place for a great steak dinner.
This was the finest restaurant we have experienced in Wilmington. The steaks are outstanding and there is a classy ambience without being too pretentious. That said, I think the menu items are over-priced so expect bills of at least $100 per person.
The potatoes tasted like box potatoes. The steak was ok, but not great. The service was very good but the price versus quality is way out of whack. This meal was truthfully not any better than at a chain restaurant like Longhorn but it cost $140.00. At least they validate the valet.
We expected to be in the main dinning room but were placed in the basement banquet room. Very disappointed because it was a Christmas dinner. Room was loud and cold. Food was good but ambiance was lousy.
Not bad but overpriced like most steak houses. Good beef, cooked as I requested (rare). But $10 for a side of creamed spinach?
Ruth's Chris Steak House is a know commodity. You know what you're going to get. Good food, an excellent wine selection, attentive service and extremely high prices. We weren't disappointed on any account except the petite filet was much closer to medium than to rare.
Would we return? Sure, but only for a special occasion. There are lots of other places in Wilmington with excellent chefs who produce great food and maybe don't have the atmosphere or maybe they have the atmosphere but not the attentive service. Ruth's has it all.
It was excellent.
It was awesome!
