Ruth Chris is hit or miss we started out with our Martinis not being filled up and then the server got an attitude. The appetizer was good but the New York strip was not very good. Overall this restaurant is hit or miss and for the price you pay there is no way you should have a sub par meal. Get you Sh@t together your customers deserve better.
I was disappointed with this Westchester County (NY) location of Ruth Chris. First let me say the food was fine. No problems with flavor or quality. It was served hot and timely. And, the waiter was attentive. Upon arrival no one asked to check our coats. I had on a long length very bulky down coat. There was no obvious place to self hang it. Other diners had their coats handing on back of chairs. The restaurant lacked heat. On the way out I noticed a portable electric heater next to another table. After adjusting to the chilly room temp I folded my coat in thirds and sat on it, which was not comfortable. We were directed to a bench to wait until our table was available. The built in bench for two sags and needs replacement. There were several empty tables yet they made us wait until our reserved time even after stating they would, if they could, seat us early. The poor acoustics results in a loud noisy room. My disappointment is, if the restaurant projects itself to be a classic upscale steakhouse it shouldn’t be only with the prices it charges. Reinvest in the overall ambiance of what should be an elegant dining experience. After all, Westchester has several other good steakhouses to choose from.
Our waiters (Don and Stephan) were excellent and went above and beyond with their personal attention and service. They were very accommodating. The food was delicious, however, my date's steak wasn't cooked properly and they forgot to add the "Oscar style" part of my meal. Although, Don and Stephan went out of their way to amend these oversights. The one thing I did not like about my experience there, was that it was ridiculously loud. I couldn't hear my date who was sitting right next to me. It was almost uncomfortably loud.
The restaurant is undergoing renovations and seems to have had a problem with the heat. Had to eat with coats on. Bathrooms being remodeled so needed to use hotel bathrooms.
Even though great prices during restaurant week, would have passed on dinner rather than being that cold. Manager did buy us a drink but didn’t make us feel great about experience.
When they called to confirm our reservation they should have indicated they were having issues.
Experience at Ruth’s Chris is generally good to excellent.
Chaotic arrival/seating routine (Restaurant week is always a cattle call). They try to jam in too many tables. Bar overflows into adjoining dining area. Service was adequate but hardly professional to the degree one would expect to accompany the full price menu. Meat quality was not as good as experienced during prior visits. One of our side dishes was barely warm. Only one option for dessert, which was ridiculously small. Non-existent ambiance. This place is downright noisy.
Visited Ruth Chris during Restaurant Week. Very crowded due to promotion.
Our 7pm reservations did not allow us to sit until 7:30. Manager righted the situation by offering our table 2 appetizers at no charge. Our waiter, Tom, was an excellent server. Took great care of us. Never felt rushed. Offered us to take home extra dessert . We were celebrating our son's new job. Requested table to have Congratulations Confetti. Was handled as requested. Ruth's Chris made the celebration a very special night
Went for restaurant week and the menu was very limited, more so than other steakhouses who participate. App choices were only basic salad with vinagraitte or carrot soup. The soup was delicious but was a very small cup serving. The filet mignon entree seemed smaller than a usual portion as it wasn't very thick. Mashed potatoes that came out were cold. Dessert was only 1 option, apple crumb cheesecake which was also very small and not great. Waiter was clear at start of ordering there were no substitutions. Had they posted the special menu online I would not have booked here as the choices were not great. The food was OK but expected a little better. Waiter also wasn't very friendly. Not rude but just maybe not happy to be there during restaurant week.
The food was great except for dessert The filet mignon was cooked to perfected so were the vegetables. We ordered from the Restaurant Week Menu. The deserts were Terrible. They are not up to par with the rest of the meal. If you can't serve something good, then don't serve it. They have a new kind of bread that they serve. It was very good as opposed to the old bread they served. Except for the desserts everything was five star.
We went down to Ruths Chris and it turned out to be Restaurant Week in Westchester County, NY. The food and service were of the usual high quality, but the total bill having ordered from the Restaurant Week menu was less than half of what it would normally have been. It is worth eating here at full price, but this is a tremendous bargain and I was impressed that this establishment agreed to participate in the event.
Very bad! Steak overcooked...they tried 3 times and they just could not make a medium steak ( Isn't Ruth Chris a Steakhouse????!!!)..very dissapointing. Shrimps quality was poor too, were pealed, frozen and with no flavour at all. The manager had a bad attitude and was arrogant.
We try to get to Ruth's Chris every time for Hudson Valley Rest. Week. Unfortunately this time was a disappointment. It was pretty noisy & hard to have a conversation with our friends. The portions seemed smaller than usual & the filet mignon came slightly charred. But the biggest problem was the wine. I had asked the waiter to bring it with the main course. We were practically finished with that when it finally arrived. The waiter claimed there was a back-up at the bar & he told me I shouldn't have asked for it with the main course! I usually don't want the wine sitting around to have with the appetizer. This is the first time this has ever been a problem, anywhere. I am surprised it was, particularly in a high end restaurant like Ruth's. Their computer system was down as well for bill payment, but we really can't fault the restaurant for that. Whether we go again remains to be seen.
