Ruth's Chris Steak House - Walnut Creek Ratings and Reviews
The crab stuffed mushrooms and filet really never disappoint. But this time was not our favorite.
Service was very slow, our order was put in wrong and my second cocktail (of the same kind) did not taste like the first.
Oh well, in the grand scheme, not a horrible experience. But now fantastic either for $260.
We were at Ruth Chris for my birthday on Sunday and while the food was better than average the service was terrible. Usually when we go to RC the food and service is great and while expensive it is still worth it. This time was very disappointing and I think my family and I will now go to Forbes Mill in Danville rather than RC. Yes, the service and experience was that bad.
The food is as good as it gets. Steaks, salads, sides (potato's) . Dessert are very good but not quite up to the food. Service is handled by a team an is first rate from start to finish. Very elegant feel. It will become a special occasion eatery for us.
It has been a while since visiting Ruth Chris. First visit though to the Walnut Creek CA location. Great experience. Started off with the mouth watering sizzling Blue crab cakes. Followed by the lettuce wedge salad. Entree was the chef special celebration surf and turf, accompanied by the au gratin potatoes and Brussel sprouts. The two lobster tails and filet mignon were cooked to perfection. Well done Ruth’s Chris!
We ve been coming to the Walnut Creek location for years, and have always had a great experience. Unfortunately, 2018 started with an unpleasant experience. My soup was very cold, we ordered a bottle of Caymus. After letting the wine breath for a while we were forced to pour our own glasses. The Filet was average, service was inconsistent, and the noise level was beyond acceptable.
Maybe this was just a New Years hangover.
We go to Ruth’s Chris Steak House every year to celebrate a birthday with the fabulous steaks; and have always had a great experience. This year wasn’t as great. The service was slower than I expected, maybe because we came on New Year’s Day. My cowboy rib-eye ( what I always want ) had a tendon that I couldn’t cut with my knife. It was a good dinner; just not as special as previous years.
Just celebrating our after Christmas, Christmas family dinner. Ruth Chris was excellent, as usual. Tess, our server, was great! We never had an empty glass of water. She’s an asset to Ruth Chris! She was not only knowledgeable, but very personable. We like that!
Expensive for what you get. Count on $100 per person without drinks. Nothing creative about the menu but good comfort food. Was a monumental birthday and retirement. Did not even waive the corkage fee or even comp dessert for the birthday person. They did nothing to make the occasion feel special
Dinner was fabulous. We enjoy this restaurant, ambiance and the social scene. The restaurant can provide that very cozy and or group large party setting. I do feel that when visiting an establishment of this caliber that SERVICE should be Exceptional. Our service was Good. Yes they appeared to be busy however regardless of busy or not Servers should always remain very attentive.
Explorer - My husband and I went there for Christmas Lunch. We were early so it wasn't crowded. The waiter tried too hard to be friendly, assuming we had a lot to eat the day before. We didn't find the menu reader friendly but finally figured it out. My husband had a delicious steak. I had the stuffed chicken which was good but not the easiest to eat. They brought the wrong side dish but quickly changed it when I brought the mistake to their attention. Dessert was supposed to be included in our order but they also encouraged us to look at the dessert menu. It was an OK experience but I'm not sure we'll go back real soon.
Sea Bass was fishy in a bad way. We sent it back and did not reorder anything. The manager said he would take care of dessert and didn't. We spent $400 and walked away hungry. Also, it was Christmas Day and the night crew left both the elevator and restrooms a mess. Never had these issues in our Pasadena Ruth's Chris.
Pretentious, overpriced, no ambiance, extremely poor service by the hostess. Based on their attitudes, they probably don’t care whether you dined there or not.
Hostess was very rude and abrupt. Led us to a table in a dark corner where the overhead lighting was not working. When we requested for another table, she refused and said they were fully booked tonight. I told her that we had reservations but she responded that this was a legitimate dining room and part of the restaurant as well and abruptly left us. There were plenty of other empty tables in the dining room. When the server came, I asked for an additional candle so that we could at least read the menu and wine list, to which she replied that she’ll ask the manager to see what she could do. She returned after 10 minutes to let us know that she was informed that the overhead light had short circuited (oh really?? It wasn’t obvious since we were completely in the dark??), that she looked all over and couldn’t find another available candle in the entire restaurant but could offer me her pen with the little LED light to read my menu. We considered leaving but since it was Christmas Eve and too late to make a reservation at another restaurant, we decided not to let this ruin our holidays.
Food was overpriced and just ok with horrible presentation. Steak was over cooked (requested medium rare but came out medium well) but after our negative table experience I didn’t want to risk returning the steak for redo. Lobster bisque was way too salty.
Will definitely never return and will recommend to everyone to avoid.
Always enjoy the meal and atmosphere. The wait staff is always wonderful, the food is spot on cooked to perfection. We like to go for special occasions, and during the holidays. We just went on Christmas Eve for an anniversary after seeing a movie. There are many good restaurants available, Ruth's Chris is consistently reliable leaving us wanting to return as soon as possible. A nice selection of wine and spirits as well as a desert for everyone- it's okay go ahead and share! I have posted a few pictures but forgot and went straight to the fillet and shrimp without taking the picture, guess we will have to return to get that shot.
Our party of four enjoyed a lovely meal at Ruth Chris in Walnut Creek. Although Ruth Chris is known for its steak and meats, our vegetarian was able to choose from plenty of tasty options including mushrooms, salads, spinach, Brussels sprouts, asparagus, and mashed potatoes. The lobster bisque and the crab and avocado tower were scrumptious starters. The Cowboy steak was huge, the lamb chops were perfectly cooked, and the salmon excellent. Service by Oscar was very knowledgeable and agreeable. Since it was a special anniversary celebration, rose petals were sprinkled on the table and we were treated to dessert. We appreciated the extra effort and well wishes.Parking garage is behind the restaurant or valet park. Everything is a la carte. We enjoyed a terrific meal and experience.
Great service, really top notch. One of the sides, the mushrooms, I would not recommend, very chewy. Our table for two was near a door and therefore very noisy, when we asked to move they said all other tables were booked, but when we left several tables near us were still unoccupied.
Anniversary dinner with my wife. The staff had red rose pedals for the table, nice touch. My filet was overcooked but they made up for it offering to cook another steak and a complimentary dessert. I thought the service was excellent and the staff were attentive. I will visit again.
RC is slipping. Not the fine dining we’ve had in years past. Dining room was way too loud due to a table full of drunks. We asked to be reseated and were told we’d have to wait 45 minutes if we didn’t want to sit by the drunks (we did have a reservation). We ordered a bottle of wine to have with dinner with the plan to have a cocktail first but our newbie waiter rushed to pour the wine before I had time to say anything. I live for their bread pudding and was dismayed to discover they had changed it to some abomination with white chocolate. It’s no longer a favorite of ours. Sad.
As soon as we arrived, they seated us and asked if we were celebrating a special occasion. We were celebrating my best friend’s anniversary engagement from 3 years ago. The waiter then dropped rose petals all over the table. So sweet! This restaurant, as well as the engagement that happened, has sentimental values. I love them both and wanted them to enjoy their evening. We also got a round of free drinks which came out of no where but so thankful for such a generous way of making us feel special. The dinner was amazing and then they brought over a delicious dessert. They never fail to please. This place is amazing! ☺️☺️☺️
