Ruth's Chris Steak House - Walnut Creek Ratings and Reviews
It seemed as if staff members were a little more tired that night. We were brought the wrong item twice. One of the items was a side that my child ordered, the server said the plate was not hot and it was not but the wrong order. When they brought the correct order for my child the plate was steaming hot. Empty appetizer plates were left at our table while the staff member was there twice. The same with empty bread plate and butter. Our food took a little longer to come out than on other days.
Was very pleased with our meal and the hostess was able to accommodate my request of a booth. The tables make you feel like you are at an elementary school trying to eat a meal. (This all being if you are over 6'3 or just a large man) Your knees are barely under the table and if you get a cramp and suddenly move the table is coming up.
Food was good & Aaron was a great server. He gave us solid recommendations. The hostess was so cold and fake that it left a sour taste in our mouths that we couldn’t shake and couldn’t provide a higher rating due to that. We won’t be back...unfortunate first impression. At this price point it’s about the full experience - everyone and everything needs to be on point.
This was a great dinner for our anniversary. Because I put that it was our anniversary in the reservation, they had rose petals on the table and the staff all wished us a happy anniversary. They also brought out a tasty complimentary dessert with a candle and Happy Anniversary written on the plate in chocolate. The service was wonderful, friendly and responsive. The food was delicious as well. They have the best steak!
It’s been a few months since my last visit to a Ruth’s Chris’ restaurant, and my first time to the Walnut Creek branch. Their food never disappoint, steak and sides are cooked to perfection. Service equally good!
It’s a smaller restaurant compared to the one in San Francisco, and the entrance was not as dramatic. Small and plain reception area, a little dark, but two days later, I can still imagine and taste the food I had. It was that good!
My only complaint was the table where we were seated had a musty odor, like an old attic. Also, while dining, there were fruit flies around our table and it was quite disturbing.
Will always still go back though when schedule and budget permit. But maybe just in the San Francisco location.
I had made this reservation weeks ago. I specifically asked for a booth as we were celebrating two birthdays. The first table we were shown to was right outside the kitchen. They did move us to another table that was ok. I noticed Birthday decorations on other tables but not on the first or second table we were shown too. We have dined here many times. Disappointed and expensive.
Even with a early reservation and with the restaurant not even close to full, the table given was subpar. The service to other customers were a bit faster than ours. I would hate to think it's because there is ageism, as we are younger and visibly not from the area - but that is the vibe I got. Probably assumed we didn't have much money. We got the seafood tower and porterhouse for two and some sides. Sides were as expected. The crab wasn't presented in a way that was easy to shell. The steak was underseasoned. I've been to 3 other Ruth's Chris and this was the worse in terms of quality of food and service.
I am a fan of Ruth’s Chris. What is of vast importance to me is service and consistency. Ruth’s Chris delivers both. It is pricey and I would love to confirm that is local sustainable conscious and that their includes some organic items. In addition, I was very appreciative of the effective communication betwween OpenTable and the restaurant staff. I included the special occasion that we celebrated that evening and almost every member of the staff gave a birthday greeting. I hadn’t received that response before without reminding and/or prompting the staff even in upscale dining establishments. As stated, I always enjoy my experience.
This certainly is not the first time I dined at Ruth Chris’. This was the first time, I brought my grandchildren. I booked an early dinner reservation. They put us in a lovely room in the back with few diners which was excellent. Our server was slooooow. We had to ask several times for items forgotten or for specific requests. We called her over to the table multiple times when she was done with other customers. I would have believed she ignored us but I am hoping that I am wrong. The steaks delivered were not done correctly. We all ordered medium rare to medium. One ribeye was rare on half and medium rare on the other end. My filet was medium. We would have sent them back except it would have taken much too long. I really enjoy Ruth Chris but not this time.
Grossly overpriced food. $51 for a filet that was not as good as one from Lundardi's BBQd at home by an amateur. $10.50 for a handful of under-cooked asparagus (they were supposed to be roasted - they were raw and starchy). While the Lobster Macaroni and Cheese had a lot of lobster for the price, Walnut Creek Yacht Club does a far better job at the mac and cheese (they make a gratin - much richer and less goopy - a little pricier). The place really has no ambience and I feel (especially by the look of some of the folks in there) that a lot of people that go there are expecting to see a celebrity while I would rather go somewhere vibrant and with more personality and more farm-to-table food. Seriously, we have been there twice and only went there the second time because we had a $100 gift card. Would not go back.
My family and I have dined at the Walnut Creek location for over a decade. The steaks have always been wonderful and our visit on September 24 was no different. The dining atmosphere is classy and sophisticated. Service has always been friendly and efficient. Anton, our server on September 24, was particularly personable and attentive.
