Ruth's Chris Steak House - Wailea Ratings and Reviews
Jared, our server, was friendly and attentive and he immediately made us feel right at home. Our food was prepared exactly as we had requested and was served promptly. The occasion was my wife’s birthday and Jared and his team saw to our every need and did not disappoint.
I'm not sure if this is just a location based problem with Ruth's Chris or not, but it did not meet my expectations of what I've been told about this place. We go to the Chop House at home in Grand Rapids often and have never had anything but perfection there. The service was fairly slow, we waited on drinks several times and decided against dessert after waiting over 5 minutes to get our server to come after we finished eating. The food was good, but nothing exceptional. Prices seemed to be all over the place too, but that could just be Hawaii. I plan on visiting the Ruth's Chris in Grand Rapids soon to check it out and see if it was just this location or if I'm just not a big fan of it.
Our dining experience was first class. We were seated promptly and our waiter was very attentive. The steaks we ordered were perfectly seasoned and cooked exactly right. These steaks were the best we've had in years. We look forward to dining here again. Thanks.
We went here for the a Thanksgiving Dinner. So this review might not reflect the normal quality of this place.
We got their 3-course Thanksgiving menu. The starter was a good chowder. It was a bit slow until we got the starter, and we even waited quite a while for our first drinks (2 average cocktails).
The main turkey course, was a massive portion of turkey and sides, but the turkey was cold/lukewarm and pretty boring. Only one great thing was a sausage stuffing that tasted rich and flavorful.
Service was friendly and helpful. There was a bit cold-draft from the air-conditioning.
All in all I expected more of this place, and I hope their stakes leave a better impression than this thanksgiving dinner.
This was Thanksgiving dinner for us on vacation. I have been to many Ruth’s Chris Steakhouses across the US. I have to say this may be one of the best when it comes to food preparation. Steak temps were perfect and the sides superb. Even though it was a busy night the waiters were on top of everything.
Just a note that prices are higher at this location due to being in Hawaii.
After eating fish for 8 straight days, we wanted a good steak and decided to try Ruth Chris for Wailea restaurant week. It was also our 25th anniversary week so wanted to celebrate there and they were very welcoming with a free glass of champagne and a free dessert ( flaming chocolate strawberries). But it went downhill from there. First off, they seated us in the back room with families with kids and no view instead of the front vibrant room which was offputting. The steak was not that tender for $50+ and the mashed potatoes were runny. Our server Jared was fabulous and the service was amazing. Would probably try another restaurant for beef as opposed to this chain .
Went for dinner during Restaurant Week in Wailea so it was 3 courses, price fixed. The appetizer course was not special- green salad or Caesar salad - and dessert choices of sorbet or ice cream or bread pudding - just not special. But the entrees made up for it. My husband had the petite filet and, as always, Ruth’s Chris meats are superb. I had the mahi-mahi which was the best I’ve ever had. Service was top notch. So, overall, it was a terrific evening.
I’m not sure if I can recommend Ruth Chris Steak house... 2nd time there & was not near as good experience as first time. Food was over cooked & not as flavorful.... our waiter was not near as friendly & didn’t take care of us well.
Was it because second visit was “Resturant Week” not sure
I very seldom eat meat, (and not to sound like the guy in the beer ad, but) when I do, I love to eat the best that money can buy — because the steaks here are quality beyond reproach and always cooked perfectly. The service is second to none and – – even if you’re a vegetarian, believe it or not – – the vegetables here are fresh, tasty and make a great substitution if you’re not in “carnivore” mode.
After a disappointing experience at another upscale steakhouse in Honolulu, we opted for a reliable standard at Ruth’s in Wailea. Some may not be a fan of the big chain steakhouses, but Ruth’s is consistently good and service always on point. The menu is pretty much the same as other locations but that was fine with us. I had the Ruth’s chopped salad which was really good. We ordered a bottle of wine since we were walking back to our hotel. Our first two choices were sold out. This is one of my pet peeves when it’s not pointed out ahead of time that something is sold out. That being said, how a restaurant handles this makes alll the difference. The waiter came back to let us know and offered to let us try different choices. He made several comparable suggestions and when the one we chose was more expensive than the first choice, the manager discounted it to the same level. Our steaks (my ribeye and wife’s filet) were perfectly cooked and really good. We split shoe string French fries which were good too. The waiter offered a dessert of our choice for my wife’s birthday and we split the creme brûlée which was really good as always. Our menus choices weren’t adventurous, but it was a fantastic meal with excellent service.
It was our anniversary dinner which they did a nice job acknowledging but my husband did not enjoy his experience. His French onion soup was less than standard as the cheese was burnt. He ordered his filet medium and received medium rare which he did send back. Overall it was not worth the money.
I love the set price menu offered during October, which Iincludes a salad, main dish, side and desert for a fixed price. Everything was delicious; we had filets and mashed potatoes, and I had a garden salad (very good) and took bread pudding to go (which turned out to be good, even though I couldn't heat it up.) I'm definitely eating here again, and would highly recommend it.
I had never been to one of these steak houses before. I ordered the 8 oz filet, went all out with the blue cheese crust. Since they had an October special, I had the Caesar salad, we split an order of the loaded baked potato with lots of cheese, butter, sourcream and bacon. I only ate half the steak and a quarter potato and all of the salad. I had acid reflux for 24 hours. How miserable! I don't usually get acid reflux. Way too much fat. I challenge a chef to make a decent tasty meal with less fat and salt. I ordered the steak med rare. They throw a stick of butter on top and put it in a special 1800 degree oven. It did come out med rare, but the outside was grey and overdone. The blue cheese crust was amazing, but still full of fat. My husband can make a more flavorful steak on the backyard grill with a good smoke flavor. Who needs to spend this much money on a sub par steak? Get prime meat at Costco and make your own. Buy a Traeger grill with pellets. So much better.
Everything was very good. I had stuffed chicken my husband had a steak. We were both very pleased with our meals. My husband requested his steak on a non hot sizzling plate he didn’t want his steak to continue cooking. The sizzling plates are definitely gimmicky. We will definitely return for dinner.
