Ruth's Chris Steak House - Tyson's Corner Ratings and Reviews
I did not care for the banquette type seating they have. There is no privacy and you can hear conversations of diners on either side of you. I also was seated on the bench side of the table where two cushion meet. It was very uncomfortable. I felt as if I were sitting in the middle of a teeter-totter. I had to move to one side which was askew from the table and a bit too close to the other patron sitting on the bench at the next table. They should reconsider their table placement. The steaks were good but not great. The sides were a little under-cooked and under-seasoned. The entire restaurant could use an update. The decor makes you feel like you are trapped in the 90's. The one positive is the wait staff were very good.
I was extremely disappointed in the food at Ruth Chris. A normally excellent venue, my 14 oz?steak was so fatty and red ( I ordered is med well) that I couldn't eat it. There was also a bug that flew in my mashed potatoes. I have Celiac Disease and looked forward to ordering the flourless chocolate cake. I was told it is no longer on the menu. I won't be going back anytime soon.
This chain is always ecxellent! The steaks cannot be beat and the sides are delicious, too. The crab stuffed mushrooms are outstanding, and I should know, being from South Louisiana. I can rely on having a great meal here and that is important! Tyson location is very nice, tge decor and architecture is very nice.
This is a "date nights" favorite for the Mrs. and I during warm weather.
We typically, choose to dine outside and enjoy the view of Tyson Corner as the train passes every few minutes.
You can always expect service to be "top shelf" and the food on point.
I would certainly recommend Ruth's Chris to friends
I think that Ruth's Chris in Tyson's is the very best steak dinner in the Washington area. I have tried their other locations, as well as many of the so-called great steak restaurants in our area, and this is by far the very best one. This is the second memorable meal I've had at this location in the past two months, so it is not just a "flash in the pan".
The food was okay, but the service was absolutely horrible. My sense was management gave out waiter too many table to handle at once. As a result, we had to wait a long time for everything. Our food took 20 minutes. After serving our food, the waiter never checked on us to see if we needed anything else (which we did). We even had to flag down another waiter to get the check.
To make things worse, when we brought the poor service issue to the on-duty manager, his response was "he [our waiter] has been with us for seven years." As if that had anything to do with how bad the service was during our $100+ meal.
Overall, if you are considering the Tyson's Corner Ruth's Chris, go for the food. Not for the service. Hopefully management will see this review and will make an effort to take waiter table assignments and customer wait times more seriously. :-(
We were seated right away as the restaurant was very quiet. I requested a black napkin from host which he never came back with. When our food was served I asked the server which he provided a tatered black napkin.
Our server came over about five minutes after we were seated. She asked if we'd like water I said yes my husband said Iced tea please. 20 mins later she came back with ice tea, she then asked for our order. We both requested a cocktail and due to the tea issue we agreed to order.
Our first course came before our drinks, the food was good but everything was swimming in butter. I ordered the corn and edamame and it was swimming in butter. My steak was under cooked but the plate it was served on was hot enough to correct it.
When we received our bill I had ordered a martini it was $2 more then a martini on drink menu ($14) mine ($16) which it was very watery tasting. When I pointed out the price difference it was fixed but I was told it's a different pour. My glass was not overly large nor was it a very good martini
If you're in Tysons Corner looking for a great steak place go to Capital Grill. I went a few weeks ago and it was five stars all the way. I wanted to give this place a chance but will never go back
Did lunch during Restaurant Week as this is a favorite of ours at any time. Food was excellent, as always. Service was very good but waiter seemed to be too busy or just wasn't as personable as others we have had. Not a problem since we enjoyed our meal but did have to ask for bread after completing our salads and neither of us remembered having to ask before. Drinks were refilled or topped off without asking which is always a plus. Meals were delivered as requested. We are already planning another outing next month so will definitely be back and maybe it won't be as busy.
The waiter my family and I had that evening was not good. He wasn't treating us fairly, nor professionally, and made us wait an hour to order our food. The food looked old and the steak wasn't prepared how we asked. Overall, we were not happy.
Our experience was not what you would expect from the venerable Ruth's Chris. They ran out of Caesar salad - but that's ok, I understand that happens. What I didn't understand was the 45 minute wait to order. Then our steaks were brought out - not once but twice - before our salad course even came.
I asked the manager to make sure we didnt get the same exact steaks that had been sitting out- but we are confident that in the end that is exactly what we got. The outside of the steaks were charred as if under a heat lamp.
I'm going to chalk this up to a bad night for them. I hope your experience is better.
This visit was sorely disappointing. We had visited once before and had a wonderful time and the food was excellent. This time it was not the case. Both of our steaks were SEVERELY overdone. I asked for Medium, my dining partner mid -rare. Mine was completely brown all the way through and his was almost brown all the way through. The chicken was very dry and bland as well. The mashed potatoes were very good. The staff member we had was rude. Honestly he seemed like a rougher guy who would have waited on us at a local sports bar or hang out. He struggled to fit into the elegance of the upscale restaurant. He also wouldn't stop to talk to us when taking an order or refilling things, he would walk by and ask us a question from behind while talking, it honestly startled me several times because we were discussing work. I got the feeling they were very unhappy to be part of Restaurant Week and just didn't care about the quality for the "discount" clients. They did remake my partners steak and it was TONS better, but mine I just left because I didn't want to wait longer. I remember my first visit I felt so special and it was so very nice and elegant, this time it was the complete opposite. It felt like an imposition to ask for more water, to ask for bread, and to try to get information. It was very clean and very nice looking but the quality of the food was lacking. I've gotten a much better steak at Texas Roadhouse, and it only cost me 9.99 there.
Ruth's Chris is an excellent traditional steakhouse and we think the service is better here than at the Ruth's Chris in Crystal City. While we had previously been here on date nights, this time, my husband and I took my parents here for dinner. The restaurant very kindly complied with my request to seat us in a booth as my parents are a little hard of hearing, and they put us in a booth that was a little away from the main dining area which also helped with the noise control. The food was excellent, the service was excellent, and we had a lovely evening.
The restaurant staff were very welcoming and made an effort to make us feel comfortable. The steak was fantastic and I recommend the house salad. My wife enjoyed the lamb chops and fresh bread, which she took home for a late night snack and that after dinner coffee was excellent.
As usual, the food was very good. My only complaint in the price increase. They have upped the Ruth's classic menu ($56.00 for a piece of salmon is high), plus the side dishes that usually came with your meal now cost $5.00 more. Not sure I will go back any time soon.
Treated like deadbeats. Had to ask two different people for wine list - grudgingly provided, finally. No plates provided to share our appetizer - had to get them from next table. Way overpriced for adequate quality food. Bummer.
