Ruth's Chris Steak House - Toronto Ratings and Reviews
Had a lovely evening at Ruth's Chris, steak was cooked perfectly and the sides were plentiful.
We got a complimentary dessert to share as we were celebrating our anniversary. The restaurant is expensive but worth the price for a special occasion. The only slight surprise was the cost of the house wine at $22 a glass!
I went to Ruth’s Chris this past Saturday when we were staying in Toronto at the Sheraton for a dance competition. We had planned to go to the Keg, but it was booked. We thought this restaurant would be similar but we were wrong. First of all, it was ridiculously over-priced. We all ended up getting the fixed price menu, which was the most affordable (but the dessert was mediocre). Second of all, the waitress was extremely rude and condescending, and she mixed up our steaks, which was reflected in the 15% tip we left. Finally, the meal was not nearly as good as the Keg. The steak seemed over-seasoned & the vegetables were overdone. All in all, we were there for maybe 2 hrs, had sub-par service and mediocre food but spent over $350 (with 2 drinks each). We all agreed we would not be returning to Ruth’s Chris in the future.
The food is always outstanding, but the portions for the sides seems to have decreased over the years. We were here celebrating a birthday and have been to this particular restaurant at least nine or ten times. The server did not seem particularly friendly or attentive this time, which is unusual because we've always had excellent service in the past. Overall I would still recommend this restaurant for special occasions with your special someone.
My wife and I decided to try Ruth Chris. Overall it was a great experience. Is it expensive, yes, but you should know that going in. We had a couple of issues with the cocktails and appetizers which were corrected without question and right away. The waiter was very attentive to the tables which made the experience enjoyable.
Is it romantic , no I would take my wife to George or Scaramouche for that. However we enjoyed the experience as a date night and would have no hesitation to return.
We had a wonderful 10th anniversary dinner. From the moment we arrived until the time we left the experience was fabulous. The hostess was extremely kind and friendly and our server was experienced, knowledgeable and very friendly as well. Atmosphere was perfect for a romantic dinner. Can’t wait to go back.
We shared a 40oz Porterhouse. Steak was delicious. the presentation and hot plate with butter made it extra rich. Cooked to perfection and with care.
Sides of shoestring fries and roasted brussels sprouts. Fries were tasty and crispy. Brussels sprouts arrived at the table still quite crunchy/firm, and very saturated in butter. I prefer mine with a little black on them and some real roast flavour. my dining companion enjoyed them but the steak was too filling so we didn't finish them.
Not much ambiance to speak of, but the quiet restaurant and well spaced tables make it a good place for lots of dinner conversation.
All in all I had a decent meal, though if i am going to shell out the money for top tier steak, i'd head elsewhere in the city.
Our waitress was WONDERFUL. She went out of her way ... cut my brothers (handicapped) steak, very helpful explaining entrees (specials) and ordering of vegetables to share. We celebrated 3 birthdays and our waitress had HAPPY BIRTHDAY written on all 3 plates and then kindly took pictures of the 3 birthday boys. The steak (6oz filet) was melt in your mouth TENDER and flavourful. Its the number 1 restaurant that I would recommend to others. It was my 3rd time at Ruths Chris Steak House and I look forward to returning again REAL SOON.
Ruth's Chris has without a doubt been the best experience we've had in a long time. First of all the food was absolutely delicious. The steak was melt in your mouth perfect and the shrimp was to die for. The service was impeccable! I have never had such friendlyand helpful servers. The whole restaurant is one big family and it may sound silly, but you can taste it in the food. Thanks for an amazing evening!
Ordered a MEDIUM rib eye.
Cut it open and it was blue in the middle.
Sent it back. Ten minutes later it came back - was medium rare and burnt on the outer sides.
Didn't bother sending it back - didn't want to wait any longer.
Very disappointed given the price of the steak.
Will not go back.
Since this was in our hotel we wanted to eat here, some of the latest reviews weren't very good but we were exceptionally pleased with everything- we went to the bar 1st for an app and drinks during happy hour- our bartender was very attentive and drinks and food came fast. Voodoo shrimp is really good. lidia was our server and she is excellent, harvest salad was so scrumptious! Then we split a baked potato and the porterhouse for two with a bottle of common good cab- amazing!! Even though we were full we split a cream brûlée also, my husband had a port he thoroughly enjoyed. This Ruth's Chris was very very good and I'd highly recommend it!
The service was absolutely amazing. However our salmon dinners were dry and flavourless. The mash potatoes were hard and the voodoo shrimp was underwhelming .
A few people ordered steak ranging from medium well to well done and they loved the steak. It was very tender and juicy.
The restaurant was glad to accommodate the cake we brought in. They added candles and did all the cutting and sharing.
Very good quality beef, my filet was amazing. The sides we're very disappointing though. The creamy spinach was cold and had no flavor and we were still charged although we left the whole thing... The sweet corn was not bad wouldn't order it again, the sweet potato casserole was fantastic... Our waitor was also ok...just made us kind of feel out of place when he explained the cut off the beef they used when I said I don't think I've ever had it he made it seem as though I'd never had it because we couldn't afford it..... Anyways....it was alright
We used to dine here regularly, until 3 years ago. We decided to take our 8 years old boy with us this time to introduce him to sizzling stake. Service was great as usual but food was embarrassingly bad and disappointing. Stakes where mediocre , Caesar salad was awful calamari was very disappointing as if we are sitting at the fast food restaurant eating fried calamari. All of these and no drinks cost us $361 CAD. Our kid had kid's menu and a parking for $30 CAD. Nearly $400, which we wouldn't mind it at all if the quality was as before. We would never go back after being ng loyal 27 years customer.
Very disappointed in this restaurant. I've eaten here twice before the first time 18 years ago and was excellent. The second time was approx 2 years ago and wasn't great, but this time the food and presentation was definitely not worth the money!! We only came here because we had a gift card but made it clear that no one should ever give us a gift to this restaurant again as I am sure I will never be coming back to Ruth's again! Absolutely a👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻For me.
