Ruth's Chris Steak House - Toronto Ratings and Reviews
The food and service was excellent - however it is far too overpriced for what you get. The sides are $12 and $14 - for just two of these I can have an entire meal virtually anywhere else. Add two overpriced drinks and my bill was $166. Would be hard pressed to get me to go there again - too many other great alternatives for less than half this price.
firstly, the steak was served in a very small dish which prevented me from adding the sides to my main plate & because my wife & i were sharing sides, we found it very inconvenient to eat from the same side dish. Secondly, i ordered the sweet potato pie as a side.....that s/b listed under the desert menu......it was just waaaay too sweet.....customers s/b cautioned what to expect when ordering that side. My wife had the lump crab cakes entree.....it came without any sauces or dips & it was very dry on its own. The complimentary desert [anniversary celebration] was a very nice surprise & that was delicious. My wife's comment after the meal was that she would have preferred to eat at the Keg........less expensive & much better food & selection. We certainly expected more for more. It was a disappointing evening!
Booked a table for 2 a week in advance and was seated next to a bachelor party of 14 who were very loud and obnoxious. Usually not the quietest restaurant but they could have done a much better job in seating. Didn't really show any concern for customer service.
I have always enjoyed Ruth's Chris - the service, the food, the atmosphere.
However Saturday, December 2nd was a bit of an anomaly. The table we sat at was noticeably tilted. I was quite surprised as I have never seen this before.
I know it can be corrected - it was the table in the back of the room against the wall.
Other than that - all was excellent.
It was absolutely fantastic! Cocktails were great. Overall service and ambiance was superb! We had filet, shrimp cocktail, grilled shrimp, Caesar salad , cheesecake all of which were excellent! Have eaten there before and will definitely return. They even sent us a piece of cake for our anniversary!
My son and I had a great dinner at Ruth's Chris while in town for a Leaf game. We had a nice booth so we could talk and our waiter Michael was top notch. It was our first time so he walked us through the menu and let us know about the hot plates when your steak comes. He wasn't kidding!
The Ahi tuna starter was fantastic, I would highly recommend it. The steaks were huge and perfectly cooked. We added in garlic mash, creamed spinach and mushrooms. The pace of the meal was perfect, time for a cocktail, ordering and being served. Never felt rushed or waiting, perfect timing. Can't comment on desert, way too full from a great meal to even try.
While we normally go to the Keg when in town, we thought we would branch out and we will definitely be back at Ruth's next time we are in Toronto.
A great meal at a great steakhouse.
Tapash was our server and he was EXCELLENT!!! We eat out a lot so I am aware of the quality of service out there and honestly - HE TOPS MY LIST!!!!!
TAPASH YOU WERE EXCELLENT. IT IS TRULY HARD TO FIND THE QUALITY OF SERVICE U OFFERED OUR FAMILY TO MAKE A GREAT BIRTHDAY OUTING FOR MY SON.
EXCELLENT SERVICE. EXCELLENT FOOD!
We have been there many times but this is the first time we brought my daughters boyfriend, along with his parents. This was the first time they were in Toronto. Besides the chicken coming without stuffing, the waiter dropping the ketchup stained knife on our guests shirt, no manager was ever over to apologize. The waiter did but our coffee though?
Had a lovely evening at Ruth's Chris, steak was cooked perfectly and the sides were plentiful.
We got a complimentary dessert to share as we were celebrating our anniversary. The restaurant is expensive but worth the price for a special occasion. The only slight surprise was the cost of the house wine at $22 a glass!
I went to Ruth’s Chris this past Saturday when we were staying in Toronto at the Sheraton for a dance competition. We had planned to go to the Keg, but it was booked. We thought this restaurant would be similar but we were wrong. First of all, it was ridiculously over-priced. We all ended up getting the fixed price menu, which was the most affordable (but the dessert was mediocre). Second of all, the waitress was extremely rude and condescending, and she mixed up our steaks, which was reflected in the 15% tip we left. Finally, the meal was not nearly as good as the Keg. The steak seemed over-seasoned & the vegetables were overdone. All in all, we were there for maybe 2 hrs, had sub-par service and mediocre food but spent over $350 (with 2 drinks each). We all agreed we would not be returning to Ruth’s Chris in the future.
The food is always outstanding, but the portions for the sides seems to have decreased over the years. We were here celebrating a birthday and have been to this particular restaurant at least nine or ten times. The server did not seem particularly friendly or attentive this time, which is unusual because we've always had excellent service in the past. Overall I would still recommend this restaurant for special occasions with your special someone.
My wife and I decided to try Ruth Chris. Overall it was a great experience. Is it expensive, yes, but you should know that going in. We had a couple of issues with the cocktails and appetizers which were corrected without question and right away. The waiter was very attentive to the tables which made the experience enjoyable.
Is it romantic , no I would take my wife to George or Scaramouche for that. However we enjoyed the experience as a date night and would have no hesitation to return.
We had a wonderful 10th anniversary dinner. From the moment we arrived until the time we left the experience was fabulous. The hostess was extremely kind and friendly and our server was experienced, knowledgeable and very friendly as well. Atmosphere was perfect for a romantic dinner. Can’t wait to go back.
We shared a 40oz Porterhouse. Steak was delicious. the presentation and hot plate with butter made it extra rich. Cooked to perfection and with care.
Sides of shoestring fries and roasted brussels sprouts. Fries were tasty and crispy. Brussels sprouts arrived at the table still quite crunchy/firm, and very saturated in butter. I prefer mine with a little black on them and some real roast flavour. my dining companion enjoyed them but the steak was too filling so we didn't finish them.
Not much ambiance to speak of, but the quiet restaurant and well spaced tables make it a good place for lots of dinner conversation.
All in all I had a decent meal, though if i am going to shell out the money for top tier steak, i'd head elsewhere in the city.
Our waitress was WONDERFUL. She went out of her way ... cut my brothers (handicapped) steak, very helpful explaining entrees (specials) and ordering of vegetables to share. We celebrated 3 birthdays and our waitress had HAPPY BIRTHDAY written on all 3 plates and then kindly took pictures of the 3 birthday boys. The steak (6oz filet) was melt in your mouth TENDER and flavourful. Its the number 1 restaurant that I would recommend to others. It was my 3rd time at Ruths Chris Steak House and I look forward to returning again REAL SOON.
Ruth's Chris has without a doubt been the best experience we've had in a long time. First of all the food was absolutely delicious. The steak was melt in your mouth perfect and the shrimp was to die for. The service was impeccable! I have never had such friendlyand helpful servers. The whole restaurant is one big family and it may sound silly, but you can taste it in the food. Thanks for an amazing evening!
Ordered a MEDIUM rib eye.
Cut it open and it was blue in the middle.
Sent it back. Ten minutes later it came back - was medium rare and burnt on the outer sides.
Didn't bother sending it back - didn't want to wait any longer.
Very disappointed given the price of the steak.
Will not go back.
