Our experience at Ruth’s Chris St. Louis was absolutely fabulous. I was with my wife and her two friends. We all got the Fall Special and it was such a great deal. 3 of 4 steaks were cooked correctly, and the 4th was sent back without any kind of issue. The service was on point. Kyle was our server and he was great. He provided great service with good conversation and a wonderful sense of humor.
So glad we went and next time we go back we will ask for the same server!
I should have gone to the one in Clayton instead of the downtown location. This location is not really suitable for the prices commanded for entrees at Ruth Chris. When you average $100 a person, you certainly do not want to feel like you are sitting in a sports bar which is what we felt like, the whole time we were there. I should have realized the downtown location is probably more towards the business crowd (sitting by yourself at a bar which there were a few of them on that Saturday night we were visiting). My husband had a fillet which was good, although not as good as other times we visited Ruth Chris at other locations. I had a ribeye and it was quite disappointing. The meat had a strange taste to it (almost like a freezer burn smell), was very salty, and was swimming in melted fat/butter. I probably ate 1/3 of my ribeye and took the rest home for my dog. Ruth Chris has been one of our most favorite steakhouse chains but this last time got us to think if we should have gone to Flaming’s.
On the other hand, service was very good. Drink was good. Caesars salad I had was also excellent.
Overall though, we left disappointed and felt as the meal was certainly not worth what we paid which was close to $200 after tips, for 2.
I don’t mind spending $150 for two (we don’t drink), but I expect a great meal and service. I ordered my filet medium rare +. They served it almost raw. Literally. My husband ate while I sat and waited for them to “bump it up”. It came back well done. Awful. My husband was almost done eating. They didn’t offer a discount or dessert. We had to ask twice for a knife. Had to ask for water. I’ll never go to a Ruth’s Chris again. Ever.
Worst service I've ever had at a nice steakhouse. He was not only pushy he was terrible. Empty water glass multiple times, had to ask more than once for a cocktail I'd ordered already. Very very slow to bring food then steaks come before salads were done. Food was good but I will not be visiting this location again.
Good steaks and salad but overpriced. Background music was old Motown a bit loud and intrusive. Had tv's all over like some cheesey sports bar. Everything is a la carte and priced ridiculously. Two people, 2 drinks, steaks, salads and baked potato and the check was 220 bucks without tip. You can do better in this area.
I was there for my birthday with 3 other guest, upon arrival 9:30pm our reservation was at 9:45pm the manger was already very rude and unprofessional. Another guest was there without a reservation and I advised them Open Table and the manager rudely advised them that they would have to wait anyway, I assumed that she was upset because they where closing in 30 minutes. She rudely asked me she could help me and I stated someone had already assisted us. We all ordered Stuffed Chicken Breast crispy and one to go. It took the food longer than normal to come out so the sever continued to bring us this special lemonade saying this is on me. Finally the food cam out with three people including the manager all burnt, even the to go order. We advised her it was burnt and she walked away and asked the server to assist us. He avoided us for about 10 minutes we had to scream excuse us. We gave him all the food told him again the food is burnt he said he was going to get her but she never came. He came back with the check expecting us to pay for food that was burnt and we never touched. He then stated the kitchen is closed I would remake it for you but we are closed. So we asked why are you giving us the check. We walked up front to the very rude manager and she wouldn't give us her name she said she would remove 3 chickens and we said why when all of them where burnt. We had Lobster Voodo, 2 sweet potatoe casserole, loaded bake potatoe, lobster mac n cheese and cold greasy fries. She snatched the check from my fried hands and said I'll comp the entire meal and advised me that she talked to the district manager and he said that I'm no longer welcome in the restaurant but my friend is. She already was upset because I advised the couple about Open Table. We have been customers of this restaurant for years preferably the Clayton location and I've never had a problem at that location ever. She wouldn't give her name, customer service and professionalism she has none.
Great service and the classic delicious steakhouse meal you expect at any Ruth's Chris. I had a steakhouse martini, the gumbo to start, 8 oz sirloin medium rare, creamed spinach and mashed potatoes to share. The wife and I broke from our traditional dessert choices of Creme Brûlée and Chocolate Mousse and went for the Carrot Cake instead, it was a pleasant ending to a great meal.
Took advantage of the St. Louis Downtown Restaurant week and the $35 menu. The food was delicious, and the service outstanding. Took some friends who had never been at this restaurant and they were really impressed. I would highly recommend this place for your next special meal.
First of all, they take great pride in their steaks and they should. The sirloin was a very good cut of meat and cooked to perfection. We also recommend the gumbo which had great flavor and an abundance of meat in it. Chocolate mousse was a terrific dessert selection; it had perfect texture and flavor, and cleverly served in a chocolate (edible) vase.
We were there for restaurant week and despite having a reservation we had to wait 45 minutes for a table. It then took almost an hour to get our salads. We eventually got out of there almost 4 hours later. Food was great but service was terrible. Again, it was restaurant week so I'm sure that had something to do with it.
This is definitely the best steak restaurant in St. Louis and it is worth paying more to get steak cooked exactly as you ordered it. The only downside to this restaurant is that it is a bit dated and gloomy inside. Our server this time was Sarah and she was excellent.
Great martinis and my ribeye was grilled to perfection. Always a great meal here and the numerous sides are plenty big to share The French fries alone would serve 4 people. Vegetables were fresh, crisp. Dinner salads plentiful, I suggest sharing. I will be back
