My wife and I decided to have a spontaneous date night and had an appetite for a steak. We have been to Ruth's Chris steak house before and decided to have date night there. Since it was a Wednesday evening it was fairly quiet but cozy. The staff was great and the food was even better. We even went so far as to try the desserts even though they do not serve carrot cake which is my weak spot. The service was great, the atmosphere was relaxing and the food was exceptional. We got what we paid for.
Our waitress Tiffany was super friendly and accommodating! She always checked in and made sure we were satisfied. Not sure if it’s because it was a weekday and it wasn’t a busy night, or if it’s because it was our anniversary (or a combination of both), but the kitchen always gave us a bit more than what we ordered, which was very nice of them! The place was clean and very fitting for our occasion. We enjoyed dining here and having this experience as our first one.
Wonderful Birthday celebration. Food was delicious
And staff treated us like royalty.
Excellent food, perfectly cooked and seasoned. Great service as well. Can't ask for anything else.
The food was good! The steaks were
Slightly undercooked but better than overcooked! There were customers vaping pot in the bar 😳
Stacey was our server. She was great!!I I would definitely ask to have her again. The food was absolutely delicious, melt in your mouth!!! This is our go to place for celebrations. Absolutely LOVE it!!!!
I took my mother to Ruth's Chris in Barrington to celebrate her 85th Birthday and had an absolutely fantastic experience! Outstanding service from the hostess and all servers! It was my mother's first time there and Gina, our main server, made her feel so special! My mother could not have been any happier with the exceptional food and the superb service! Highly recommend going here not just for the exceptional food but for the great service from the entire staff!
Ordered a petite filet medium when it was served it was not medium and the server id not come for quite a while to ask about the doneness. it was also butterflied and a med done steak should not be butterflied. by the time the server came to check on us I had tried to eat some of it and I showed him the steak and all he wanted to do was have anther one cooked to take home. We payed the bill and left a good tip but I did ask to speak to the manager and he did refund the piece of the steak. Not sure why the server couldn't have done something sooner.
We hadn’t been to Ruth’s Chris for a while but decided to go on the 31st, with another couple, to celebrate New Years Eve. We were not disappointed. Appetizers, drinks, main entrees and desserts were all perfect. Our waitress was also pretty attentive. We fully enjoyed the evening.
Considering it was New Years Eve, and the restaurant was slammed, we had a great time and a good meal.
My husband loves Ruth’s Chris. Loves it. I’m sorry to say that this experience was less than we expect of RC. We were seated in a back corner of a banquet room filled for the evening with tables (honestly, just cut off reservations, don’t sacrifice atmosphere for those willing to drop this kind of money on dinner). Was it my Columbia coat not bearing the requisite goose, we speculated while observing our fellow diners of two general groups: the elderly and the underdressed.
Service was good but was not the top-notch experience we expect; water glasses were empty at times, and drink service was slow but the dessert menu and check showed up in a flash once we were finished. The $110 porterhouse for two was good but overcooked at one side, further proof that the venue was stretched too thin.
In conclusion, I’d rather have gone somewhere else than pay premium prices for less than a premium experience. Poor showing, Ruth’s Chris.

At first I was concerned that only bar seating was available when I booked our table but I must say I definitely preferred it. It was louder but we didn’t have to whisper at the table like I’ve felt we’ve had to do in the main dining room.
We will be back and ask for bar seating from now on
We should have known better than to go to a nice restaurant on NYE. It was packed, service was very slow and worse of all, the food was not up to par. I had the sea bass, not an inexpensive dish and it was dry and over done. I have ordered it at least three times before and it was wonderful. I didn't say anything because I didn't want to sit there another hour until it was replaced. My husband's steak suffered the same neglect. On top of all of it, it was my birthday which the server forgot until she brought the check and I asked if she would sing HB for me. Then she said I'm getting you a dessert, I thought you would like the check first.
Ruths Chris never fails to impress. My wife, daughter and I had a wonderful dinner. It is not a “cheap date”, but it is definitely worth it!
The restaurant far exceed my expectations and did everything to make it a nice evening for my husband’s birthday.
All good just have cooled it on going out and just amazed at how much a great dining experience cost these days but loved it all nine the less
Thought service was slow and food too expensive. The steak I had was $55 and nothing special about it. Sides were very good.

This was an amazing dinner! Our server, Andrew took excellent care of us, answered questions about the dishes, cocktails and desserts. All our steaks were cooked perfectly. One of our side dishes came out not so warm, but Andrew took care of it right away.
We’ve been going to Ruth’s Chris for 20+ years so I know how a steak is supposed to be cooked. We visit Ruth’s many times a year. Tonight was a total disappointment.
Our server, Sam, was subpar. We ordered a medium rare steak with extra butter and a medium well steak. Both steaks came to our table not as ordered. The medium well was still bleeding and Sam agreed that it was incorrect. But when I showed him my steak which should have been medium rare, it looked like an overcooked medium. He proceeds to tell me that’s how a medium rare steak looks. I told him no, I’ve been ordering for years and a medium rare doesn’t look like this. He continues to argue with me and says he can take out a flashlight and show me that indeed it’s medium rare. I told him the ends of the medium rare shouldn’t be dark brown and cooked. He said yes, it’s supposed to look like that. At this point I told him to just forget it and eat it. My friend told me to send it back, it’s not what I ordered. $65 for an overcooked steak is not acceptable. At this point Sam’s entire demeanor changed. Not friendly anymore, short, curt, and agitated.
Then we ordered dessert. My friend upgraded her dessert. I kept the dessert that came with the Ruth’s Classic plus a decaf coffee. Guess what, dessert came, coffee didn’t. I waited and waited. Nothing. Sam no where to be found. I ate the ice cream before it melted and bread pudding before it got cold, still no coffee. Sam finally walks by and I tell him to cancel the coffee since it was never brought to the table. No apologies, no nothing. Just an, “ok.” This is the first actual bad server experience we’ve ever had at Ruth’s Chris. Very disappointed way how Sam handled this situation. The service tonight was extremely disappointing.

My friends' flight at O'Hare had an eta of 4:30, but I made a 6:00 reservation because many flights are late. Theirs actually got in early, and we were to the restaurant by 5:15. Thought they'd just push us into the bar to wait until 6:00 when the other three members of the party were scheduled to arrive, so I just said that's what we'd do. What a surprise - they offered to seat us at the table instead. That was great, and totally unexpected. Food was good, as usual. Service prompt, but not pushy or intrusive. Had an enjoyable time.
As always an awesome meal!
Food was fabulous, I was actually surprised! Very good will be back again!
Annual Christmas dinner out with my wife
Christmas dinner with my spouse
Our service was amazing. Amanda was very attentive and made our overall experience wonderful. The entrees we selected were delicious. We’ll be back very soon.
Our family Christmas outing
Yes,, I would recommend it if they could afford it. Very pricey. Everything is ala carte, and the prices for the sides are also very pricey. Didn't particularly care for the seating because we couldn't see anything other than the tables right close to us. We were in a booth.
Service was excellent! Enjoyed an amazing surf and turf for Christmas dinner!
Great meal. Bone in rib eye was fantastic as was the crusted Ahi Tuna. Excellent Christmas lunch.
Both steaks were not prepared as requested, the one needed to be recooked and came out well after everyone was done eating. Texture on other steak that needed to be cooked additional time was poor. Understand busy with holiday but Ruth’s Chris should get steaks done right. Disappointing.
It was Christmas Eve, our waiter was knowledgeable, respectful and attentive. I believe his name was Brian and he knew the menu from cover to cover. Brian made our evening special.
After making a convenient reservation on Open Table, they called and asked me to call me to call back and confirm. Then I pushed the # for reservations and was told, I needed to call back and push a different # - took all of the convenience away of reserving online. We got there about 5 minutes before our reservation, checked in, and then watched as four hosts stood behind the desk and basically ignored us until my husband went up and asked why the delay after 15 minutes, "ooh we were just going to seat you." Then asked for a manager/Dan who proceeded to come over, not even acknowledge our concern but proceeded to tell us how his kitchen can't handle any more customers so they only seat people every 15 minutes, how he had $8,000 in take out order that needed to go out 15 minutes before our reservation, and actually said to my husband at one point, "I don't think you are hearing me". Followed by undercooked steak and Au Grautin potatoes. Luckily our server Tiffany did a really good job, OUTSTANDING bus guy Joey (he should train the manager on customer service) and wonderful Valet guys partially saved the experience; however, there won't be a next time.
Great meal, ambience and service (major thanks to Luis Cubillos and Tiffany)! I started out with the Veal Osso Bucco Ravioli and Spicy Shrimp (both were awesome)! For entree I ordered my favorite — the Cowboy Ribeye—along with sides of Brussels sprouts, roasted corn, and garlic mashed potatoes! Everything was mind-blowingly awesome too! For dessert, I had the key lime pie, which was probably the best key lime I’ve ever had!! Thank you, Luis and Tiffany for treating me like a rock star!
We enjoyed being served by Brianna. She was friendly and very sweet!!
Ruth's Chris is our Christmas tradition with my niece. It never disappoints. Our steaks were excellent quality and cooked to perfection. We had an awesome time.
First class service as always. Steaks and all food was great. Ahi tuna appetizer is amazing. We had a larger group and the servers were on top of everything.
Our dinner was awesome & the service excellent!!
The only issue I have is why did the hostess make us stand in the lobby for 15-20 min before seating us? Especially since there were many empty tables. We had 5:30 reservations & arrived 15 minutes early.
Two ladies walked in behind us and were seated right away. I overheard one lady say they had 5:30 reservations also.
This is the second time I had a problem with the hostess.
On a prior visit, the hostess insisted that I made reservations for 2 people when I did not, I said 3 people when I called. She made a very big issue about it & insisted the mixup was definitely my fault.
These kind of situations make me think twice before returning. There are many great restaurants to choose from in my area.
The service was outstanding. The food was superb.
Had a great time, food was great, atmosphere was great.
I have been to other Ruth's Chris and their food was subpar. Service was exceptional as usual, not sure I would visit this one again.
