Ruth's Chris Steak House - Seattle Ratings and Reviews
Our waiter (Justin? younger, dark-complected, slight build) spilled an entire glass of red wine on my son and daughter -- a full-on mess requiring entirely new table cloths, multiple mea culpas, etc. The elderly, balding water-filler clumsily filled water, almost tipping over glasses in the process, seemingly oblivious to us. Not sure what the policy/protocol is when a major spill occurs, but was floored when nothing was "offered" for the disruption in the ambience or the red wine stains on our clothes. Didn't even comp the drinks. We've come up from Tacoma for the past three years for our Seattle weekend but won't ever again. I would have thought a $600 dinner might make us a valued customer, but we certainly didn't feel the love.
Komoto tomatoes with mozzarella and dark balsamic was extraordinarily good. I could have made a meal of that alone. The 11 ounce filet was probably the best I've had in years. I couldn't afford to purchase this type of meal on a daily basis but for good occasions, you really get your money's worth.
The food was fabulous and the restaurant was very quiet on a Saturday at noon. The server(s) was attentive without being intrusive. This restaurant was a great choice for us to dine with our cousins before heading to a concert. We would defiantly return.
If dining here and then heading to Key Arena I suggest leaving your car near the restaurant and taking a cab to Key Arena.
We had a wonderful evening! I've had a lot of expensive steak dinners in my lifetime, and this one takes the cake! My $60 steak was well worth every penny, and the other diners at our table had the same reaction to their dinners. They also went above and beyond to make sure the person at our table with a dairy/beef allergy was fed delicious food as well.
Ruth's Chris is billed as a high end steakhouse, which charges premium prices and has a reputation for great food. However, during our visit the waiter assigned to our table was not as well trained as he should have been. Unable to properly serve wine and was very nervous. If charging premium prices, service should always be at a premium and it was not. Also, the steaks, for which the restaurant is noted, were prepared correctly on only one plate. Ordered medium rare and got medium well. The food was taken back, remade and was returned undercooked, came out too rare. Did not send back again. Did speak with the on duty manager before we left to discuss these same issues. Underwhelming response on his part. Overall, would not recommend this restaurant.
I am a regular at Ruth Chris, this location specifically. I usually don't come for lunch but I have family in town so why not. Until today, I've only ever had one issue with my dining experience here. I don't know if my waitress was new or what but I hate when I have to track people down for things. She'd constantly dissappear from the floor for long periods of time. I waited for about 10 minutes to see if she'd pop back up so I could get my check but someone else handled it for me. Then she finally came over and I asked for her to box up my sister's food. She let someone else detain her so after waiting for a few minutes to come, my sister went and got the boxes herself. No one bothered to help me at the front desk to get my valet ticket stamped so I just did it myself too. It's definitely not the usual service we recieve from this establishment. I was pretty unhappy with it.
They were out of live lobster on a Sunday night at 5PM. The restaurant isn't far from Pike Place Market. When I said I'll be back tomorrow with my expense account I was told they wouldn't have lobster until Tuesday?!! Why don't you want my business? Go out and buy a $20 lobster at the market and charge triple for it...unreal!
This was my first visit to Ruth's Chris in Seattle and unfortunately, I was disappointed. I have been to other Ruth's Chris locations and my meal was exceptional. I started with a basic salad and the dressing was piled on which overpowered the salad. Both my husband and I ordered the Filet Mignon and my husband seemed happy with his but mine was bland and didn't have much flavor. When I have had steak at Ruth's Chris in the past, the saute in the butter left a delicious crust and this steak almost seemed like it had avoided the entire pan seared process altogether. The mashed potatoes were a little dry and the roasted asparagus was slightly overcooked and the tough ends weren't even taken off.
I will commend the service of the staff. My husband and I were celebrating a belated anniversary and we were brought a champagne toast and our server and any other staff that brought out food wished us a happy anniversary. Our empty plates and glasses were removed quickly once empty and the staff was very attentive.
As for ambiance, the restaurant wasn't too loud which allowed us to talk but wasn't so quiet that we felt we needed to whisper. The decor felt a little outdated and beat up but overall it was comfortable.
In general, Ruth's Chris won't be my first choice when looking for a steakhouse in town. There are many options to compete with and for the money that we are spending, the meal should be outstanding.
Been here before for happy hour but this was the first time for full service dinner. Went for my birthday and there was birthday confetti on the table and every worker made a point to wish me a happy birthday. Our server was knowledgeable, warm and helpful. Food was delicious. Definitely recommended.
We had a party of 6 (3 couples) sitting at a very awkward table with 3 to a side that made it very difficult to converse. The seats weren't individual chairs but instead booth-style seats that couldn't be moved. We were also right next to the kitchen, so that along with the noise in the dining room, we were really struggling with holding a conversation. It would have been better if we were at a regular circular table with normal dining chairs. Other than that, the food was spectacular. Three of us had the special salmon that wasn't even on the menu or the listed specials -- it was cooked to perfection.
We went to Ruth's Chris for a late lunch before boarding a flight. It was consistently good. They have this sort of tasting / fix price menu called Chris' Classics and it's a good deal considering all that you're getting. We both ordered the filets and they were done perfectly. Also the selection of Seattle wines is very good (I recommend the Cow Catcher Red Blend ). Service as always was great.
I"m a regular customer, or more correctly a diner, at the Ruth's in Seattle WA, Austin TX, Fort Worth TX, and Boise ID. Why? Because I think the beef is unrivaled by any other of the other steakhouses. In addition, the ambiance is always just right for a relaxed evening of quiet dining with friends, family, or business associates.
I've been to Ruth Chris in Boston, Scottsdale, Chapel Hill and the bone in Ribeye's have always been excellent. Everyone at our table stated their steaks were overdone, dry, and not the quality that we are used to at Ruth Chris. Hopefully, this is a "one off'.
