Ruth's Chris Steak House - Scottsdale Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I, together with our grandson who was celebrating his 21st birthday, dined a couple of days ago (a busy Saturday evening) at Ruth Chris’s Scottsdale, Arizona restaurant. We have eaten there before, but it had been several years since our last visit (which was a good one). This time, ordering from the Classics Menu list (which seemed to be priced well with starter, entrée, side, and dessert included), we were disappointed with our overall dining experience. There were several reasons for this:
•The table we were taken to was in a highly undesirable location—crowded and in a high traffic area (perhaps we should’ve complained, but didn’t)
•The 12-oz ribeye (which was the choice of both my wife and me) tasted greasy (perhaps cooked in too much butter?)
•Our entrees were all served in small plates; what happened to serving steaks in full-sized plates?
•Our side offering (rice w/ crab) tasted soggy and greasy
•After finishing our entrees and sides, dessert service was very slow
•We also had a couple of glasses of red wine with which we had no familiarity; my wife, who is an expert wine connoisseur, evaluated as “low end” and not worth the price
On the plus side, our server was reasonably attentive (other than the dessert situation) and assisted our grandson with arranging an alternative starter menu offering.
We expected a superior dining experience similar to those we’ve enjoyed recently at other comparable Phoenix steakhouses (e.g., Arrowhead Grill, Fleming)—but did not receive such. Consequently in the future we will vote with our feet and not be returning to Ruth Chris. Our opinion is that their quality has slipped from what it used to be.
I stop here everytime I'm in the Scottsdale area. For the amount of time I have eaten here I have never been let down. The beauty of Ruth Chris is ,no matter which location you eat at , you can depend on getting the same quality/service/menu at each location
( with the exception of Biloxi )
This used to be our "go to place" for special occasion dinners. Maybe tonight was an off night, but the service was lacking and the food was just OK. I only had water to drink and waited a long time between refills. While we both had steak for dinner, only one of us was offered a steak knife. We've searched other local steakhouses to be our next go to place, and have had better experiences elsewhere.
After having some less then wonderful experiences at their now closed Camelback location. I was impressed as all was perfect at the Scottsdale Rd location
I don’t like going to restaurant where the staff seems to think they are more important then the guests and for that reason I don’t eat at Morton’s any longer
This was my second time at a Ruth's Chris Steak House (first was in Los Angeles, where we're from) - it was my wife's first. This experience out-did the last one for me. We will definitely make this spot our regular place to dine in and enjoy ourselves at. Elaine, our server, was outstanding - as were her supporting team members, who took care of us like royalty. We had a fantastic time from the moment we arrived till it was time for dessert. The food was to live for, not to mention. Five stars all around! Thank you.
I have never had an unsatisfactory item served at Ruth's Chris even when attending special coursed dinners where I have no choices. I love this consistency coupled with the exemplary service and atmosphere here. Emiliano was a solicitous server who was there when needed and not hovering when not. He made suggestions for cocktails and desert that were on the mark and we had a wonderful girl's night - could only have been improved if Emiliano had accompanied us afterward to dance!
We had not visited Ruth's Chris for some time because the previous time the ribeye had been surprising very disappointing. We decided it's been some time, so we'll try again . We are so glad we did. We had the singularly best lamb chops I can recall anywhere. It was a wonderful and memorable dinner. We shall return!
This was our second time at this location. The second time was the exact same experience as the previous. The food was amazing. I have been going to Ruth's Chris every year for my birthday and have always enjoyed the food.
The service is a big problem at this location. Salt Lake City and Park City locations are amazing. They provide excellent service and make you feel special. The Scottsdale location both times just did the very least that is expected.
We walked up to the hostess desk and there were 3 employees talking to each other and they never looked up at us. Finally after a few minutes I interrupted them to tell them we had a reservation.
Our server was ok but when a meal costs over $200 you expect gold standard service.
Regrettably this will be the last time we go to the Scottsdale location. We'll find another steak house that appreciates their customers.
Ruth's Chris consistently puts out great food with great service, holding that traditional steakhouse vib. Our service was exactly what we wanted for an anniversary celebration - lots of time between courses, wait staff available but not hovering and, as they always do for such events, they sprinkled our table with hearts and roses confetti and finished our meal with a delicious, complimentary dessert.
This was our second time at this location and it was fantastic! The first time a couple of months ago was terrible. And perhaps because it was a Wednesday night that time,
And this time was a Friday... I'm not sure. We've been to Ruth's Chris in Chicago many times and always a wonderful experience no matter the day of the week.
Our first time at the Scottsdale location a few months ago was for a birthday. It was not busy but our waiter was terrible and gone for very long periods of time. All our steaks were ordered medium and all came out rare to medium rare. I had to go to the hostess station to get
Someone to come to our table after waiting forever for someone to come ask how our steaks were (no wait staff at all in the dining room). We had to ask twice for our water glasses to be refilled and our waiter forgot that dessert came with our menu choice. We almost didn't come back a second time! But I'm glad we gave this location a second chance. It was awesome the second time around--exactly what I expect from Ruth's Chris and exactly what I expect at this price point.
We requested a quiet table and were very well accommodated. Our server, Sulejman, was fantastic. He listened and delivered our steaks cooked exactly how we requested - a lost art for those of us seeking truly rare filets. This location is close to 1 hr drive from our Gold Canyon home, but it is definitely worth the drive.
We sat on the patio and most tables were full, Jennifer our server was very busy but continued to be very pleasant, upbeat and accomodating. She had to work hard to accomplish all of this but made the experience great. We will ask for Jennifer on our next visit.
My wife and Celebrated our anniversary and the experience was top notch. My wife had a glass of Riesling and I had a chocolate martini. Both excellent. We started with the crab cakes. Very good, hot, tender. We both enjoyed them. We ordered the 11oz filet and shared it. It was cooked as requested and was also quite good. We ordered the lobster mac and cheese and roasted corn as sides. The lobster mac was heavenly. Enough for 4 people. Large amount of lobster. Just a little bit of spice. Perfects. The roasted corn is on the sweet side. Made with green chiles. Very different but excellent. For dessert, complimentary, we had the whites chocolate bread pudding. It was delicious, light and sweet.
Our meal was served quickly and the service was excellent.
We tried Ruth's Chris for restaurant week and were disappointed. The seafood entree was overcooked and tasteless, and the service was friendly but absolutely horrible. We were pretty much ignored the whole night. The server assistant did a pretty good job though. We will not be returning.
